"You would surely not be able to think properly at the meeting if you have to listen to anything else about her". Amber teased.
"I think it's time we hit the road". Jai said looking at the wristwatch he was wearing. He gathered together some files and they both left the office.
The ride was smooth and quiet all through, not until Jai put an end to the silence.
"I recall you speaking about some other meeting, how did you tackle that?". He asked.
"Oh that's not for you to worry, I have already handled that". Amber said.
"Wow, you really know how to make your moves". Jai said, a smile on his lips.
"I decided to quit as you suggested". Amber said, her head bent down.
"You did what?". Jai asked in disbelief.
*Is he going to say he was only joking and did not meant what he had said*. Amber thought, her heart pondering fast.
"I looked into what you said the other day and I felt it was right to choose between the two, I can't do two things at the same time I might only end up losing both". She said, clicking her tongue.
"You surely made the right choice". Jai said, he groaned softly.
"I had to do it otherwise". Amber giggled.
The meeting took over an hour but it was finally over, people were seen coming out of the hall as voices could be heard all over the place.
Amber waited patiently for Jai to show up, she walked up to him immediately she saw him coming out of the hall.
"I would be leaving now". She said immediately.
"That's fine, I will call you when the results are out already". Jai said.
"You really did a great job back there". He said, his hand stretched forth for a handshake which Amber returned.
"Don't forget to resume properly once you are done". Jai said Amber's mind flashed back immediately, she was yet to submit her resignation letter and also forgot to ask for an absence permission.
Amber walked up to the CEO office, her mind not troubled of what the outcome might be, she was fully prepared for whatever was going to occur.
"Good morning Sir". She greeted on stepping in.
Mr Liam only lifted up his head without saying any word, his face covered with fury.
He groaned loudly,
"What are you doing in my office?". He shouted out angrily after a few seconds.
"I came in…". Amber went quiet at his next thunderous scream.
"Were you planning on quitting and intentionally decided to make it easy for you to do!!!!!". He shouted angrily.
"No sir, it's not the way it seems to be". Amber said calmly, still on her feet.
"Then what was it meant to be? You are supposed to attend the meeting we are having today and you did not show up". He said, bringing down his voice a little.
"I want to quit". Amber said, avoiding her eyes from having any contact with his.
"You want to do what?". Liam shouted, his eyes widened in shock.
"I want to end my stay in the company". She said,
"Who is going to take over the unfinished project? Have you gone crazy?". Liam shouted out more angry.
Amber did not give him an answer, she brought out the letter of resignation she had written earlier out into a brown envelope.
"I just have to do it". She said, placing it on the office desk.
"You are not leaving!". Liam thundered, picking up the envelope and tearing it apart.
"I would not grant this wish of yours". He said, rustling the paper and throwing it into the bin basket beside him.
"I don't think you can stop me now". Amber said, leaving the office without any more words.
The sitting room was dead quiet, no one was speaking or saying anything, everyone engrossed in their activities but it seemed like someone had to finally break the long endless silence.
"Are you not going to put up a celebration for Jasmine's birthday?". Amber asked.
"That would not be necessary, I have other things to take care of with my earnings". Amelia said,
"That's not true, you are only doing so because you are still regretting having her". Amber said, her face having a mocking look.
"Don't start with that". Amelia warned her, getting up from the couch.
"Hey, how did your day go? That's what's important now". Mrs Charles said.
"Oh! It was kinda stressful but I hope it yields a positive result". Amber said.
"The results will be out soon. It's really so hard to tell as only five companies are chosen of all and finally only to or probably one gets the contract". Amelia said.
"Then you need to pray a lot for you to be lucky". Mrs Charles said, a wide smile on her face.
"That's it's not a doubt that I would definitely come out successful, I have never losed and I won't stand a chance of still proving that". Amber boasted.
"I think that must be my phone ringing". Amber said, at the loud buzz of a phone. She rushed towards her bedroom to check who was calling.
It was Jai, she let out a huge breath before picking up the call.
"Meeting tomorrow, very important". He said, hanging up the call immediately.
"What could be so important that he did not even let me speak before he hung up". Amber said.
Amber searched through her wardrobe, looking for something perfect and fitting. She had no clue what the meeting was all about, her mind flashing different thoughts as she wondered what the meeting was all about.
Getting to the company, she saw Jai just stepping out of his car, she could have rather walked up to him and asked him all about the call but she could just rather still hold on till he got to his office. She stayed out of sight until she was sure that he had gone in, she stood waiting for a few minutes before heading in.
