Chapter 11 - In Shadows, New Earth

In fact, if Peter was unlucky enough, her family, too, would want to get their hands on him. No, he was sure, they would want a piece of him, a big one.

"You're right on that;" she said as if she could read his mind, "I am but just a princess in my family, so I don't command enough force; my family has, but I am undoubtedly the best first step than anyone in the family if an individual wishes for my family's backing!"

An aura of pride was slicing the air around her; she prided herself as the number one contender in her family, and not wanting to look childish, she continued...

"You have me and I can do just so much so you have to do much more than just that, I can give you a backing of just less than a quarter of my family, but the rest is up to you." he looked at her in puzzlement without saying anything, understanding the underlying meaning of his look she continued:

"My family is a bit funny, you see; as pure-blooded dragons, we consider strength more than anything; everything comes next after strength. I am still helping you this far because I see potential in you, the potential to grow into one of the most powerful; your other qualities only add to that. What I'm trying to say is that, if you grow in strength or show high and unrivaled potential, my family might recruit you, or even with my backing, you might have their partnership rather than outright eliminating you for their use..." A double-edged sword.

He would rather stay in the dark than shine a light on his face for everyone to see.

"I'm now a child of shadows... I guess we're brothers than being it's child!" He will remain unseen for as long as he could.

She continued explaining his more than that, there were many advantages to being a partner than a worker or son-in-law—who they won't approve—as Sylvie had explained more to make things make more sense—she knew he had little understanding of the current world.

Hundreds of years ago, something approached the Earth's atmosphere; it was like a comet bigger than half of the Earth, and following behind it were others like it, only a bit smaller.

After the satellites picked it up—only seconds after the satellites alerted the Earthlings—the comet clashed with them.

Knowing full well that the comets had no plan to stop the New World organization at that time, came to one conclusion.

No matter how much they fired, all the missiles, nuclear or not to minimize the force and power of these comets—they were destroyed before they could reach a kilometer from the comets, a powerful energy curtain surrounded them as if to make sure the giant abominable succeeded in their desired but unfortunate role—for earthlings.

With no other solution to the pending doom, they crashed into the earth!

Millions, not billions, of people lost their lives and property, of course. After all, half of the Earth was smashed by these big comets, and one continent where the biggest comets crashed was ultimately destroyed, disappearing from the Earth's face!

Before the world had stopped moaning for the dear lost lives of their loved ones, the governments as you know how they are—decided to go and explore where the comets crashed.

No one knew if to blame the government or if it was supposed to happen because, the moment they neared the crashed site of the biggest comet, a strange golden energy came from the core of the crater and spread throughout the whole world. This happened at the same time as the whole world. Same minute same second!

It did nothing to people apart from some things akin to towers merged from the ground where the comets had crashed. The black metal-made towers pierced the skies of Earth, with some even piercing through the clouds.

The towers had a powerful forcefield that didn't permit entry for anyone, but they weren't sure if the forcefield didn't allow whatever was inside to come out.

Anyway, since no one could do anything to get inside these towers, they let them be as the remaining governments and their populace came together to form one government, but that did not become possible. At least the greedy world officials managed to make Empires.

Pete listened patiently to every word she said.

The teen from the slums knew little of the history of how the current world status came to be, having gained power that forced him to directly participate and be part of this ruined era, Peter paid so much attention to everything.

Working to best the other—to gain more power in the postal apocalypse—the empires started advancing once more, equipped with the help and support of the general population, who at that time become so mixed as many refugees ran to the less affected countries who had become the core of the newly formed empires now

So, in not more than five years, the world was back to its two feet with newly built and developed vigor to accommodate and take care of the population that was left of the past billions of people. Just a few 3.6 billion had left of the eight-point something of the past population.

All this time the strange towers were dormant!

"The gods were still protecting the world under their mighty shadows; this became more apparent when they invented more technology; technology advanced in a few years; I think that was 2025, yeah, this increased the speed of their growth, and the empires became stronger.

"With everything technological almost done, ten years later, the leaders, came together once more, after the meeting, the greedy rulers tempered with the towers aga,in and the unthinkable happened."

With their new weapons, they started attacking the towers after they failed in their attempt to go near them.

"As expected the attacks were destroyed before touching the towers but the results of their actions were disastrous..." This was the very core of everything, he wiped his ears.

Like before another wave of golden energy from the heaven-piercing tower paid a visit to the sinful world, once again, this time it was full of anger...

It caused tremors that went through the earth's surface shaking everything in its wake, the skies turned colorful obscuring the sun, only their colorful growth could provide light to the world.

A day after, some people suddenly fell and started to spasm, shaking violently as though they were being electrolyzed by lightning or electricity only to start rising once more. Yet nothing had changed on them, not even damage had been made to anyone.

But nothing like this was happening to the Ancient races! They stood back and watched intently as human tempered with the towers.

"On the third day, the doors of the towers opened, what could have been a moment of celebrating their success, the Leaders could only stare in shock. They had bit more than they could chew!

"Large monsters exited the gates of the towers, some were so big and large that a two-story house could only bow in shame... They later wished that if it was only the monsters that appeared... Hell was about to befall them.
