Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Overcoming Dangerous Threats

Right as I began doubting his loyalty, his voice rang in my ear. "Enough! How many times do I have to tell you to get the f*ck away from me!? But you don't listen!" He yelled, anger rising with each word.

Christian screamed so loudly that Giselle jerked back, her eyes widening in shock.

"Why would you do this to me- to us? Don't you understand the bond we used to share?" Giselle mumbled into his ear, and started stroking his arm.

Then for a split second she looked at me. Her sharp brown eyes peering into mine.

The longer we observed each other, a shiver ran down my spine. Something is off with that woman.

I felt the hair on the back of my neck. I don't know what Giselle is trying to do. Before I could say something, my wolf opened my mind.

"Anabelle, claim our mate! She should not be touching him! Go now!" My wolf spat, jealousy filling her every word.

"I know, but..." I tried speaking, but she started pushing through.

"Gloria, don't do this. Physical confrontation is not the way to go." I pleaded silently, hoping she would listen to me.

Gloria used excess force that I wasn't used to using. The bones in my face started crunching really loudly. Before I knew it, I had long blonde hair that cascade down my back.

"Get the f*ck away from my mate! You are a b*tch who has no right to claim someone's mate!" Gloria demanded with a loud growl.

Before I could deny her from taking over, my hands pushed Giselle with full force to the other side of the hallway.

Boom... Her back banged into the wall, leaving a huge crack in it.

"I wouldn't have done that if I were you!" Giselle strained as pain started coursing her body.

Slowly, she stood up off the floor.

"Why did you just push her?" I asked, finally realizing what happened.

Personally, I was never someone who would inflict harm on another person.

I forced Gloria to the back of my mind.

Then she cracked her neck from one side to the other. Before she allowed her body to twist and turn.

She grew larger, and gray hair began to fill her whole body, until there was no visible skin left.

Her fangs began to portude out of her mouth.

Once her transformation was complete, slowly, she started advancing toward me.

Each step reverberated off the hardwood floor, causing me to shake in fear.

What is she? I never saw a wolf like that before! Could she be possessed? Or is this her normal wolf body? I wondered as she started speaking.

"You see the size of my wolf? I'm bigger and stronger than you!" Giselle spat in my direction.

My hands started shaking, and my heart beat rapidly inside my chest.

But, just as I was about to respond, Christian gently moved me to the side.

"Sweetheart, I got this. All I want you to do is stand behind me." He spoke sweetly, then placed a kiss on my cheek.

Reveling in the lasting warmth of his smooch, I smiled. It's amazing how much love he has shown me since we decided to accept our mate bond. But will it be enough to conquer the obstacles that will come our way?

I nodded slightly, knowing that I had to take a breather. "Okay, please, I don't want you to be injured." I replied quietly, and stepped back.

"He will do whatever it takes to protect us. Don't get in their way." Gloria spoke up, her voice full of worry and awe.

I watched him take calculated and determined steps toward Giselle. His eyes fixated on her every movement.

Once he found an opening, he ran towards her with immense speed that it caught her off guard.

Then his huge hand gripped her neck tightly, as his fangs grew out of his mouth.

His voice broke through the silence of the hallway. "I told you never to react in a way that will hurt my mate!" He said and started to lift her higher up off the ground.

Watching the altercation, my mind started racing at everything that was happening in front of my eyes.

I want to step in and help him. But am I going to get hurt if I do? I don't want to be a burden though.

"Alpha you're hurting me! Let go!" Giselle muttered as her throat started clogging up.

Then continued, "From this day forward, you are banned from entering this pack! Now take your stuff and get out!"

Then he dropped her to the ground with a loud thud. "If I ever see you back on my land, trust me, you'll wish you were dead." Christian declared with a resounding roar.

The sound of cracking bones once again reverberated through the air as she transformed back to her human body.

This time instead of a body with no marks, she had blood and bruises all over her.

I observed her, a look of curiosity and dismay. I didn't want her to be injured on my command. But there was nothing I could do about it.

With what little strength she had left, Giselle lifted her body just enough to speak. "You haven't seen the last of me." She revealed, and then ambled her out of the packhouse, leaving a trail of blood in our way.

As I watched her retreating back, I couldn't help but smile. I'm glad that threat is gone for now. Is she ever going to return?

My eyes found Christian's, and slowly they started to close. Exhausted and tired, I let the darkness take over me. But not before mind-linking him, "Please take me to bed. I'm ready to sleep."

Upon closing my eyes for the night, he wrapped his warm hands around me, and lifted me. This is the best love I have ever received. Maybe I will have him for a long time.

Is she truly gone from our lives? Or do I have to worry about her?
