Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Fear of a Fractured Bond

Is she truly gone from our lives? Or do I have to worry about her? I wondered as I allowed sleep to overtake me.

As I allowed the darkness to take me, her last words rang in my mind. "You haven't seen the last of me."

It was like a melody that kept playing non-stop. Which I desperately wished for it to cease.

It's a stark reminder of what would take place if I decided to continue acknowledging my mate bond.

What did she mean by that? Was she going to return? Will Giselle have something that will cause chains to wrap around us?

"Anabelle wake up! Christian is in grave danger!" I heard someone calling me, their voice laced with concern.

"I'm alone here. There is nobody here." I mumbled under my breath.

Their voice jolted me awake, and I snapped my eyes open.

"Where am I? I've never been here before." I whispered under my breath, shaken at where I ended up. With every word I spoke, my hands shook.

Wanting to calm myself down, I grabbed the covers of the blanket, squeezing it tightly.

"Anabelle! Get up and run!" The person yelled, this time much louder.

Whoever it was, had my heart thumping rapidly in my chest. I don't even know who it could be. Gloria, what should we do? I questioned quietly, hoping she would answer me. Yet there was nothing but silence.

Ready to take action, I sat up quickly, and the covers pooled around my feet.

"Who's there?" I screamed nervously, then pushed them off my lap.

They replied, their voice hushed. I leaned closer, trying to hear what they were saying.

"I'm here to take you to Alpha Christian. He needs your help." The person in my room spoke, his voice void of any emotions.

His words struck a chord in my heart, causing me to do the unthinkable.

"My mate is in danger, and I must find a way to save him." I replied robotically.

Then, without a second thought I strained my mind, urging my wolf forward.

Gloria, please! He needs us. Can't you answer me? I pleaded, my heart hammering in my chest. If I didn't do something now, I am afraid I would lose him.

The more I tried connecting with her, it was a lost cause. Ugh, I guess I have to do this myself.

Without a second thought, I ran as fast as I could. With each step I took, determination ran through my veins, urging me to continue.

I must save him. If I don't, I doubt anyone else would. I whispered to myself.

Fifteen minutes later, out of breath, I reached the door of the packhouse. "It's only this huge door blocking my way to the outside world. I can do this." I muttered to myself, then someone from the pack spoke.

"Why is Anabelle running? Did something happen to our Alpha? I know he's okay though. " I overheard Jazzy muttering before her eyes looked at me.

They shown disdain, something I didn't understand.

Not thinking about it anymore, I pushed the doors open. The crisp air filling my lungs.

Think Anabelle, he needs you! I chanted silently. With each word, I laid in my heart a strength was needed on this journey.

But would it be enough to save him from the clutches of evil people?

Before I could exit, something hit me hard on the back of my head.

"Ouch!" I blurted as stars appeared in my eyes, causing me to black out.

The darkness that took me was like an endless black whole. One that was difficult to get out of. Then a light started appearing in my eyes.

"Ana, you have to wake up. If you don't then we'll be dead."

The voice was low, but urgent. "Ana this is it! You will either wake up, or Christian will lose us for good!" She declared, and walked closer to my eyes.

"Gloria, is that you?" I asked, not believing what was in front of me.

It was a wolf- my wolf. She had silky brown fur and blue eyes.

I can't believe what is happening. Am I dreaming or is this real? I wondered whilst I continued staring at her.

"It is, but we don't have much time to talk. All I need to tell you is that Giselle is behind this." Gloria revealed, the hair on her body stuck up with each word.

"What... What do you mean?" I stuttered, hoping she was wrong.

If she was right, then Giselle could be wary of my feelings for Christian. So she decided to take matters into her own hand and abduct me from his packhouse.

In reality, I wasn't ready for the next words she would tell me. Is it going to be something worse than her being the cause of the situation?

Alpha Christian's POV

Hearing her scream, the hairs on my body stood up on end.

"My mate! Where's my mate!" I yelled into the hallway.

"Alpha what's wrong? You look distressed!" My beta, Alex whispered in my ear, concerned about the change in my emotions.

Shaking my head, I wasn't ready to acknowledge how I was feeling. But he has always been here for me.

I respectfully responded, "She's gone.

I can't understand how she was taken right from under my eyes" I needed to find out why that happened.

My heart and soul was gone from me, and I feel my heart breaking with every second I spend away from her.

If someone hurt or Moon Goddess forbid she is dead, I don't know what I would do.

Each moment she's not next to me, my resolve starts to sink.

As the seconds passed, I walked up and down the hallway.

Fear of losing her, gripped my heart tightly. It was not willing to let go.

I checked every room. But she wasn't there. Ana wasn't anywhere.

"F*ck! Where could she have gone? I placed her in my bedroom just last night. And now she's not there!" I declared, anger and agony filling my body.
