Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Tangled Web of Secrets

Alpha Christian's POV

"F*ck! Where could she have gone? I placed her in my bedroom just last night. And now she's not there!" I declared, anger and agony filling my body.

It took everything in me not to break down the walls of my pack house.

My wolf was going crazy in my mind. "Mate! Mate!" He screamed incessantly.

The more he screeched, my heart started beating rapidly in my chest.

Without her, I feel as though my life is falling into pieces.

"I hope she's not in danger. Yet I have this nagging feeling, that something isn't right." I wondered as my hands started clenching and unclenching.

Everytime I'm not with her, my heart starts to breakdown. The more time passes, my resolve grows exponentially.

And there is nothing I can do about it unless I find my Ana.

"Chris, I know how you're feeling. But please, let's keep calm. Okay?" My wolf, Jeremy uttered, causing me to break out of my thoughts.

Slowly, I took deep breaths and responded, "Isn't there anything we can do? Or is this a lost cause?" I asked, hoping he can lead me the right way to solve the problem.

I wasn't certain how to go about it since my soul is not here. Was there anyway I would get her back?

While I was talking with Jeremy, Alex placed his calloused hand on my shoulder.

"Who's that?" I declared loudly, and turned around.

My eyes widened at the person who was standing in front of me.

"Oh, it's only you." I said quietly.

Not willing to be persuaded, I shook his hand off. Then, squinted my eyes whilst crossing my arms of my chest.

The anger began rising in my chest again.

"Remove your hands at once!" I growled, my canines bared at him.

I don't need anyone trying to calm me down. They should know if they try, something bad will happen. I pondered as Alex's words made its way to my ear.

"We'll find her. I promise! If we don't..." He spoke, his voice low enough for the both of us.

Anabelle's Pov

In reality, I wasn't ready for the next words she would tell me. Is it going to be something worse than her being the cause of the situation? I wondered as the sound of footsteps inched closer to where I was taken.

My heart began pounding inside my chest. I don't like this at all. Whoever is coming here now, their aura is intimidating. I whispered quietly, trying to calm myself down.

"I've got you now." Someone spoke maliciously.

Their words were like a sharp knife twisting in my gut.

A gasp escaped my lips. They had thick black smoke coming out from their mouth.

Who is this person? What are there intentions toward me? I don't think it's good ones though. I thought as my feet started walking in their own.

Instinctively I backed up with my hands raised in front of my face.

I'm afraid of how they are going to act. Will they harm me? I wondered, then spoke.

"What... What do you want from me?" I asked nervously.

Whoever this person was, there was no way I can know their strengths, or weaknesses. Not unless they show me.

As the stranger walked closer, curiousity and fear got the best of me.

Do I know this person? Are they related to my mate? Or are they an enemy that we have to watch out for? I wondered while shifting from one foot to the other.

Unable to keep my nerves at bay, my eyes glazed over.

I wish I was back at home with Christian. But is he looking for me? I wondered as the unknown person walked closer.

"Ha... Ha ... Ha..." The stranger laughed, their smile widening with each word. And then continued, "You are going to stay away from my daughter's fiancé!" It declared as their hands started moving around in circles.

Once they began doing that, a sense like fog appeared out of nowhere.

What is that? Is it some sort of device? I thought to myself, unable to take my eyes off of it.

Thick black smoke started swirling around faster than I believed was possible. Then it began making its way toward me.

As it crept closer, the smell of tar filled the air, causing my lungs to clog up.

I raised my arm and began coughing into the sleeve. "Ahem." While trying to dispel the smoke from my throat, Gloria's voice broke through my mind.

"Anabelle, whatever you do, don't succumb to it. You need to stay alive." Gloria spoke to me as my mind raced at the strangers words.

Christian has a fiancé? Who could it be? Yet, he's my mate, so why would he be engaged to someone else? I thought as it began wrapping around my neck.

"Why are you doing this?" I strained, eager to understand what was going on.

Right as I asked, the mysterious figure moved it's cape, and disappeared in a flash.

Where did the stranger go? They were here a minute ago. I pondered while searching the dimly lit dungeon for any signs that they were still here.

The only thing they left was a glistening piece of fabric.

Did they leave it for me? Or did it rip off by being caught in something? I wondered as I put my hand out of the bars to grab it.

Before closing my hand around it, I looked from one side to the other. I had to ensure no one was coming down the hallway now.

Then slowly I started pulling it towards me. Not expecting what would happen once it was enclosed in my hand.

"Is this some sort of ploy to gain influence over Christian and his pack?" I asked in the silence of the dungeon, trying to gain a better understanding. Yet it was no use. There was nothing but the echo of my own voice.

"You have got to be kidding me. I don't want to be used as a decoy in whatever plan they have." I declared loudly, wanting to be heard.

Right as the words left my mouth, the sound of clinking heels made it down the hall.

Who's coming?
