Chereads / The Secret Marriage Pact / Chapter 52 - Victoria Allies

Chapter 52 - Victoria Allies

Victoria paced her luxurious office, her sharp heels clicking against the polished marble floor. She glanced at the large screen on the wall, displaying detailed profiles of various powerful individuals. Each face held strategic value in her ongoing war against Lucas and Amelia. Her mind raced with possibilities as she weighed her options.

"These people owe me," Victoria said to her assistant, Elena, who stood silently with a tablet in hand. "It's time to collect on their debts."

Elena hesitated before speaking. "Are you sure they'll side with us? Lucas has influence too."

Victoria smirked. "Lucas has influence, but I have leverage. It's not about loyalty; it's about control. People will always choose their survival over friendships."

Victoria made her first call to Gregory Steele, a notorious businessman known for his ruthless tactics. He answered on the second ring.

"Victoria," Gregory drawled, his voice smooth but cautious. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I need your expertise, Gregory," Victoria replied, her tone dripping with charm. "And your network."

Gregory chuckled. "You're in trouble, aren't you?"

"Not trouble—opportunity," Victoria corrected. "Lucas and Amelia are becoming a problem. Help me take them down, and you'll have access to markets Lucas has kept you out of for years."

There was a pause before Gregory responded, "I'll think about it."

"You don't have time to think," Victoria snapped. "The game is moving quickly, and you don't want to be left behind."

Gregory finally agreed, and Victoria ended the call with a satisfied smile. One down.

Next, Victoria reached out to Rachel Nguyen, a tech genius with a reputation for corporate espionage. Rachel was hesitant at first but couldn't resist the promise of power and wealth.

"If I do this," Rachel warned, "I need full immunity if things go south."

"Consider it done," Victoria assured her, already thinking of ways to cut Rachel loose if necessary.

As the day went on, Victoria secured more allies—business tycoons, corrupt officials, and even a few of Lucas's former associates who had grown disillusioned with his leadership.

By evening, Victoria met with her most dangerous ally yet—a shadowy figure known only as "The Broker." This mysterious individual had connections in the criminal underworld and could provide resources no one else could.

"I want results," Victoria demanded as they met in a secluded warehouse.

The Broker tilted his head, his face obscured by shadows. "Results come at a price. Are you prepared to pay it?"

Victoria didn't flinch. "Name your price."

The Broker leaned closer. "When this is over, I'll want a share of your empire."

Victoria's eyes narrowed, but she nodded. "Deal."

With her new allies in place, Victoria began orchestrating a multi-pronged attack. Gregory would target Lucas's business deals, Rachel would hack into Amelia's operations, and The Broker would deploy his network to create chaos.

"Lucas and Amelia won't know what hit them," Victoria said, sipping her wine as she reviewed the plans.

Elena hesitated before speaking. "Are you sure this will work? They're resourceful."

Victoria's smile faded. "Resourceful doesn't mean invincible. Everyone has a breaking point, and I'll find theirs."

Victoria stood near her desk, the dim light of her office casting long shadows across the room. The weight of her ambition bore down on her, but she thrived in the pressure. Every move she made was calculated, and every alliance she formed brought her closer to her goal of dismantling Lucas and Amelia's world.

"Resourceful doesn't mean invincible," she repeated to herself, her voice calm yet determined. "Everyone has a breaking point, and I'll find theirs."

Her assistant, Elena, stood by, typing furiously on her tablet. "Shall I schedule another meeting with Mr. Steele for tomorrow? He seemed eager to discuss terms further."

Victoria shook her head. "No. Gregory's already on board. Any further discussion will make him question the deal. We need to keep him focused on the task, not on the risks."

Elena nodded, making a note. "What about The Broker? His network is powerful, but they're unpredictable. Are you sure we can control them?"

Victoria smirked. "The Broker doesn't need control. He needs motivation. As long as he thinks he's gaining more than he's risking, he'll stay loyal. For now."

Victoria moved methodically, spending the next few hours reaching out to other potential allies. Each conversation was a test of her charm and ruthlessness.

One call stood out. It was to a former ally of Lucas—a powerful attorney named Martin Hayes.

"Martin," Victoria said smoothly, "it's been too long."

"I don't have time for games, Victoria," Martin replied. "What do you want?"

"Straight to the point, as always. I need your expertise. Lucas is vulnerable, and I have the resources to bring him down. Join me, and you'll have access to cases that will make your career unstoppable."

Martin paused, clearly intrigued. "What's the catch?"

"No catch," Victoria lied. "Just results."

After a long silence, Martin agreed. Another piece on the board.

Victoria's team of allies now spanned across multiple industries and networks. Gregory Steele would cripple Lucas's business, Rachel Nguyen would compromise Amelia's operations, and The Broker would bring chaos.

But Victoria wasn't done. She wanted something bigger—a move that would not only harm Lucas and Amelia but completely dismantle their confidence.

"Elena," she called out, her tone sharp. "Get me the files on Amelia's past. I want every detail, every mistake, every connection."

Elena hesitated. "That could take time. Amelia's background is well-protected."

"Then work faster," Victoria snapped. "I want results by morning."

Elena nodded and left the room.

Hours later, as Victoria reviewed her plans, a knock on the door startled her. It was rare for anyone to disturb her at this hour.

"Come in," she said, her voice icy.

Elena stepped inside, her face pale. "We have a problem."

Victoria leaned back in her chair, her expression calm but her eyes sharp. "Explain."

"It's about The Broker," Elena began. "He's asking for more than we agreed. He wants full access to your network, or he's threatening to pull out."

Victoria's jaw tightened. "He wouldn't dare."

Elena hesitated. "He's unpredictable, Victoria. If he leaves, he could expose everything."

Victoria stood, her presence commanding. "Schedule a meeting with him immediately. I'll remind him why it's unwise to cross me."

Late that night, Victoria arrived at a dimly lit warehouse to meet The Broker. The air was thick with tension, and shadows seemed to move in the corners of the room.

The Broker, a tall figure cloaked in darkness, greeted her with a sly smile. "Victoria. Always a pleasure."

"Let's skip the pleasantries," she said, her tone sharp. "What's this about you renegotiating terms?"

The Broker chuckled. "Business evolves, Victoria. I need assurance that our partnership benefits me as much as it does you."

"You already have more than you deserve," Victoria snapped. "Don't overplay your hand."

The Broker leaned closer, his voice low. "And you shouldn't underestimate your enemies. Lucas and Amelia are gaining ground. If you want my help, you'll need to give me unrestricted access to your resources."

Victoria's mind raced. Giving The Broker more control could be disastrous, but losing him now would unravel everything.

"Fine," she said through gritted teeth. "But if you betray me, you'll regret it."

The Broker smiled. "I never betray... unless it's necessary."

As Victoria left the warehouse, her phone buzzed. She glanced at the screen, her heart skipping a beat. It was a message with no sender:

"You've made a dangerous deal. The Broker isn't who you think he is."

Victoria's breath caught in her throat. Was this another of Lucas's tricks, or was someone else pulling strings behind the scenes?

Her grip on the phone tightened as she stared into the darkness, the weight of uncertainty pressing down on her.
