Chapter 1 - Broken Dreams

Ava checked the time as she quickly walked into the Octagon Nightclub. She had just a few minutes to spare before reporting to the bar manager who kept acting as if he was the owner of the nightclub.

She couldn't remember how many times she had been told that this luxurious entertainment club had no room for errors, but best of services which included being at work on time, not a minute late.

She was a young student during the day, and at night, she had no choice but to work part-time as a waitress in this nightclub to make a living and finance herself. So, she couldn't afford to do anything that could get her sacked from this job.

After changing into her waitress uniform, she walked towards the direction of the bar manager who handed her a note containing the wine list ordered by one customer.

"Ava, this is the Burgundy wine ordered by the customer in room 555. This customer is of distinguished status, so you should put on your best outward appearance and services."

"Yes, boss, I'm on it." She took the wine list and nodded in response.

Ava followed the instructions and went to the top floor of the nightclub, to the door of Presidential Suite 555. Politely, she knocked on the door twice, but there was no response. She knocked twice again. "Room service!"

There was still no answer or movement from the inside. There was something about this order that made her feel uneasy, but she couldn't place her hand on it.

Well, it might just be a fleeting thought. She dismissed the feeling, and brought out her key-card. Anyway, she had a wine to deliver.

Ava opened the door halfway, and looked inside the room. It was pitch black inside, and she couldn't see anything clearly.

So, she held the opened door with her leg while she searched for the light switch with her free hand.

Unbeknownst to her, there was pair of shadowy eyes, staring at her while she was frolicking for the light switch by the door.

The man, the owner of the cold eyes, moved in a precise and practiced manner, sneaking behind her before slamming the door shut.

The frightened Ava, who wasn't fond of the dark, dropped the wine bucket in her hand out of instinctive reflex.

Just as she reacted, the man pressed her body down, and covered her mouth with his strong hand, blocking any sounds from escaping her mouth. "Hey beauty, you know the procedures. You were supposed to be here twenty minutes ago. When I pay for the best, I demand the best."

When he pay for the best, like a call-girl? When Ava heard the strangely twisted words, she shook her head desperately, screaming without words: No, you have the wrong person. I'm a waitress.

"You should know I don't like when people keep me waiting." The man said, still covering her mouth.

She was late, but it didn't matter in the end. She would compensate nicely for the wasted time. She was even playing as a waitress. This was perfect in every sense of it. She was perfect. Just the way he liked them.

"But I'll let it go since you are here. Let's just get to it."

Let's just get to what? Oh, no. It was the first time that Ava felt she was treated so rudely in her short existence. She felt helpless and frightened.

But no matter how hard she struggled and tried to talk, it was to no avail. She was like a lamb on a butcher's table. He was too strong and terrifyingly strong. She was no match for his strength.

"Hey, take it easy, okay?" The man said, a little displeased. He liked role-playing, but hers was a bit too strong.

As the man watched her shed tears helplessly, he couldn't help but wonder. What's wrong with her? Did she get paid too much or she didn't get paid that much in advance? What's with all these too much dramatic actions?

Well, since she was here, he just had to go along with her. Too much time wasted already. Let the fun begins.

Ava accepted her fate, and closed her eyes.
