Chapter 7 - Two Months Later

Two months later, the Midwood College was approaching the end of the semester. Ava went to class early and returned late every day, and studied diligently at night.

Martin was considerate and took care of all the housework so that Ava had no worries.

On the morning of this day, Ava was walking alone on the way to the campus as usual. She was wearing a light blue jeans and a white top without any makeup, but still attracted many passers-by's attentions.

At this time, inside his red Ferrari which was speeding at a reasonable pace on the asphalt road, he saw the familiar beautiful figure walking alone on the sidewalk, and he couldn't help but smile slightly.

Hearing the sound of wheels rubbing against the ground, Ava turned around out of habit. What came into her view was Tristan's elegant face. Besides being surprised, she was also nervous. "Morning, Tristan."

"Good morning, Ava." Tristan replied gently, easy smile on his face.

Since they were studying the same course, every time he went to school he always hoped to see her. Even if he was just to follow her quietly, it was a kind of heart-delight to him. Today, he had a plan for the two of them to enter the school's premises together, at the same time.

"How about a lift, beautiful?"

"Hm?" Ava was surprised by his flattering words and the invitation, but she declined. "Oh, thanks, but I'm good. It's just a short distance."

How could she, a powerless and poor girl, sit together with such a person like him in his car? The son of one of the most powerful and richest man in the country?

Although she had always liked him, she preferred staying away from him, especially now. If the students in the school saw her alone with him, rumors would spread, which would only cause them unnecessary trouble.

Tristan had never thought that Ava would reject him, so he felt a little disappointed. However, his handsome face maintained its smiling expression, and he replied, "Hey, come on. Today is the semester's final day of exams, after this, we're free until the next semester. Don't you want to get to school earlier and make revisions for the exam. You and I have been course mates for over three years now, right? So why should you be worried of me giving you a lift?"

Ava thought what he said made sense, so she couldn't refuse again. "Okay, then."

Every time she was bullied by the creeps that called themselves good students, he would always stand up to defend her; when things went wrong, he would write creeds to lighten her mood; so when did habitual dependence turn into liking?

Since the incident at the nightclub, how could she not be extremely cautious around men, even someone like Tristan?

Seeing Ava's troubled look, Tristan teased. "What's the problem, Ava. Are you afraid of me?"

"No, Tristan, I'm not. I'm just worried about the exam." When she heard Tristan's sarcasm, she could no longer remain calm and explained casually.

Sitting with the person she loved, her heart was pounding so hard that it seemed like it was going to jump out of her chest.

Tristan, who was driving with concentration, saw Ava's rosy face from the corner of his eye, and smiled slightly to express his secret joy.

The two of them were silent all the way until they were a hundred meters away from the school gate. Ava broke the silence first. "Tristan, you can stop here."

"You know what, we don't need to care about those rumors if we don't do anything wrong." Tristan stopped talking and said. There was no doubt in his mind that he liked her and didn't care what others said, but he cared that she could get hurt.

Even though she knew he was comforting her, Ava still felt very happy because he always thought of her like this.

"My heart is looking forward to seeing you later, Ava." After saying that, he drove away without waiting for Ava to answer.

In fact, when he said this, his handsome face had already turned red unconsciously. Fearing the awkward situation for both of them, leaving immediately was the best option.

Ava, who was bewildered when she heard this, finally understood the meaning of that sentence and a smile appeared on her pretty face.

In the lecture room, all students were preparing for the exam and reviewing their textbooks and notes carefully.

When Ava walked into the room, the usual noises of quarreling and gossiping were gone. It was as calm as the surface of a frozen lake. When she looked towards Tristan's position, she only saw him nodding and smiling at her.

Marilyn, who was sitting at the next table, saw the lecturer coming in, so she moved to Ava and asked, "Today, you seem to be here earlier than usual."

You know, Ava's home was 5 kilometers away from the college, which took around an hour's journey to complete. But today was different. Not only did she arrive half an hour earlier, but she was also smiling.

Could she have taken a taxi to school? But that was unlikely and not worth getting thoughtful about. Besides, she usually saved money on taking the bus, so why would she be willing to spend money on taking a taxi?

Marilyn was guessing without thinking, but immediately rejected the thoughts. However, she was full of curiosity about this question.

"I just wanted to be early for the exams." Ava avoided her gaze and did not dare to answer her directly.

Marilyn looked at Ava with suspicion, obviously disagreeing with this answer. As long as a person feels guilty about something, that person's limbs would unconsciously react instinctively.

"Anyway..." Feeling uneasy at being stared at, Ava changed the subject and asked, "...what do you think will be the possible questions for today?"

"Oh, I think the possible ones are all in my notes, here. I'll give them to you for reference." As soon as she turned around, she realized that she had been fooled, and a big frown appeared on her face. Something was going on here.

Every time Ava wanted to avoid her question, she would change the subject in an attempt to fool her. What could it be? Marilyn wondered helplessly.
