Hannah accompanied Ava to the HR department before returning to the Administration Department. Before leaving, she also told her to relax, not to be too nervous, and to respond to questions appropriately.
Due to new governmental reforms, the Larsons Group of Companies had made an exception and accepted part-time job seekers. So there were many people applying for the job today.
Big companies like this were very demanding in terms of talent recruitment. If the applicant didn't have excellent academic qualifications, experience, and adaptability, he or she could find it impossible to get a job at all.
This was just the scene of evaluating part-time employees. If it was an evaluation for full-time applicants, Ava wondered how many more levels of job requirements they would have to pass.
Fortunately for her, she went to Midwood College, otherwise, she would not even be qualified to step into the threshold of this mighty company.
"Number 26!"
Deep in thoughts, she forgot to respond when the lady called her number again.
"Number 26?"
After the second call, she realized that it was her number that was being called. She quickly picked up her bag, stood up and walked towards the interview room. "I'm number 26!"
If she hadn't answered, the caller would definitely have skipped the number and she would have lost her eligibility to apply. Then, she would have to return home disappointed.
"Are you No. 26, Ava Harley?" The lady questioned her identity and looked back and forth at the resume in her hand.
The girl in front of her had black hair tied into a flower bud on top of her head. Although she had a fair and delicate face, without any makeup, she was wearing a floral dress of ordinary texture, showing it was of cheap quality.
She was used to seeing people, especially ladies, wearing bright clothes and decent makeup, but when she saw Ava, her eyes were full of disdain. She also revealed her impatience. "All the interviewers from the HR department are waiting for you inside, you can go in."
After saying that, she turned around and went in.
Ava saw the sarcasm in the lady's eyes and knew that she had failed to put on a good look for best appearance's impression. She also knew that she should have dressed more formally for the interview, but because she didn't have any better formal clothes, she could only wear the best one in her wardrobe.
Why did people judged a person's goodness or badness based on their appearance? They should have known better that the inner beauty or ugliness was the true definition and measure of a person.
But as a human, she understood. People's eyes were basically superficial, so it was normal for her to be looked down upon by others.
In any aspect of life, the first impression a person made was very important. So right now, she felt she had no hope of being employed.
Sitting in front of the five interviewers, Ava would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous. The emotions that had just calmed down began to surface again. The previous lady asked her to introduce herself, and her words were firm.
"Good morning everyone, my name is Ava Harley...." Ava introduced herself and went to answer the questions posed to her.
When she came out, there were still a long queue of applicants. Fortunately, Hannah helped her get a number in advance, otherwise, she didn't know how long she would have to wait.
She breathed a sigh of relief after she walked out of the revolving doors of the company's building. She took out her phone from her bag and called Hannah back to report on her interview.
At noon, she went to the vegetable market to buy vegetables, hoping to make a sumptuous lunch for Martin.
On her way home, Ava saw a red Ferrari parked on the side of the road. The conspicuous luxury car attracted countless passers-by to watch.
In this remote place of the countryside, it was not easy to see a luxurious car, let alone a powerful Ferrari worth millions. So people who were not used to seeing luxury cars were discussing it as if it was a rare thing.
The handsome man leaning against the door of the Ferrari looked at her and a bright smile broke out on his face. At this moment, he looked like a prince from a cartoon, gentle and noble.
Ava thought she was dreaming. When she closed her eyelashes and opened them again, she saw him walking towards her with calculated gait.
Her heart was about to jump out of her chest like a fish jumping out of the water while her teeth were biting her bright red lips tightly. She was so nervous that she couldn't speak. Tristan came to see her, which was not only unexpected but also surprising.
Seeing Ava's eyes full of disbelief, Tristan asked with a smile. "Did my appearance scares you?"
"No, I was just surprised to see you here. So, I didn't quite believe it was you." Ava was afraid that Tristan would misunderstand her, so she immediately explained.
He was the president of their department in college. He was one of the recognized school's royals. It was quite unbelievable that he came to see a poor girl like her in person.
Her anxious look made Tristan's clear eyes even gentler. He handed over the bright yellow invitation card he had prepared to her. "Would you like to come to my birthday party tomorrow?"
Ava took the bright yellow invitation in astonishment, opened it and read it carefully, and asked in surprise. "Tomorrow is your birthday?!"
"Well, yes, that's why I'm inviting you to join in the fun." He wouldn't say that he specially held the party at home just because she could come.
In the past, he didn't care about birthdays, but this time was different. He wanted to get closer to her, so he decided to invite her to spend his birthday with her.
"Ah, other course mates will be there too?" Ava asked curiously. If she was the only one invited to come, it would definitely look and sound awkward. Just the two of them to be together for his birthday?
She certainly didn't want to be alone with him. She simply couldn't escape the thoughts and feelings that she secretly had for him.
"Don't worry." Tristan was afraid that Ava would worry about other things, so he explained: "I also invited some good friends."
She wanted to ask for clarification about the good friends, but she knew asking about other people being invited would make her look strange somehow.
Anyway, she believed it should be just a sincere invitation for her to come to his birthday celebration.
