"I want you to look after her. She shouldn't leave here until I am back." I instructed Andrew and left immediately.
I didn't expect the call, but when it came, my heart leapt. The voice on the other end, shaky but clear, told me what I needed to hear. She was awake.
All through the ride, I knew it was the beginning of a chapter I didn't want to indulge myself in. Her waking up was an event in itself, something rare and profound, like the first crack of dawn after a long, endless night.
The drive to the hospital she was in was a blur. I had been there a thousand times. But now, with the speed of my heart and the pounding of my pulse in my ears, it felt like I was entering another world entirely.
