ALAINA'S POV
"Do you understand what is about to happen?" The doctor's eyes didn't meet mine. There was no room for misunderstanding. I could only nod, my throat felt too dry to speak, like I might choke on the words if I tried.
So, I just laid there, the cold sheets sticking to my sweaty skin despite the air conditioner. The room now felt small, as if the walls would close in on me anytime.
This was my decision. It was supposed to be simple. I was not supposed to care much. It would just be an in and out procedure. But it didn't feel simple. It felt like I was not supposed to be here.
