Chapter 5 - Chapter 5. The siege begins.

2 days until the invasion reached my walls , I sat on my chair planning on what needs be done.

From what I've observed, despite their near 70k seems menacing, I don't see any preparation for crossing over walls.

It's weird, did this invader just have a talent to mass produce troops?

And then it hits me, could I use my talent on the elf people?

It'll be cheaper to just make more potions and hire more troops. Maybe next time.

Cause you know, 10k gold can get me 1k troops and another 10k for the 1k potions. If we do the math right, I'd get near 300 elven troops a day while if I just used it on those 300 , it's just 30 a day.

Totally a losing deal, and I don't even know if my talent works on the people.

It's decided, I'll prepare 2k potions and upgrade the walls for now. I'll purchase some troops when the war starts.

Now that I think about it, ain't my invader spending 7k a day just in maintenance? And since he's on the move, he's already spending more since a moving troop cost and a stationary troop maintenance is way too far different.

Filthy rich invader.

Making a mental note, I breeze through 2 days doing, absolutely nothing except maintenance and walls upgrading.

144.6k gold in my wallet, 2k elf potions at hand. That's my trump card for this war.

I don't mind going bankrupt just to win this war. Having a place to go back to is better than doing nothing in fear of losing everything.

That's when a funny news reached my ears.

"Your highness, the invaders have started attacking the walls."

"Oh what tools are they using?"

"Their swords."

I absolutely lost my cool and burst into tears. OMG! What absolutely fools!

"Lead the troops and bombard them from the walls! I'll send more reinforcement your way, stay tight. Get someone to bring Barn Jones here when you go out, Edward."

"Yes, your highness."

While costly to maintain, this elfs sure are a handful. Apparently my land value has also doubled to 200k since their appearance but as my talent has a cap of 100k, I don't see a need to renew the loans.

70k at 3% is already a sweet deal.

I took out 20k gold and hired another 2k troops on the spot and that's when Barn Jones came in holding up with his 2k elven potions.

"Here's the new batch of troops, distribute to them the potion and have them marching to the frontmost walls. Ain't no way a level 7 is breaking down today."

Troop maintenance are costly, normal troops cost 10 silver while, the elves cost 1 gold.

It's a necessity evil though. I have way too many gold at hand anyway.

With the recent spending, I still have 122.6k gold. Ain't that something , I should find something to substitute for gold to use my talent on though.

I don't like this cap, at all.

And that's when I see magic cores at the market.
