Just as Wander informed he would, before the clock striked 3 in the afternoon, he came to the Cacia family mansion in the Bellery Moon Lake. No matter how much he had visited the place, he could never get used to the grandness of the mansion.
"Rich people live a completely different life than us…" Wander muffled under his breath as he entered the house.
Maevie was already waiting for him. As soon as he saw her smile, chills ran down his spine.
'It's okay… It's okay.'
He calmed himself down. Telling himself that he had to get used to Maevie smiling at him instead of frowning at him at some point. As a reputed agent, he got into his professional state and began to introduce the scripts he brought to Maevie.
"Here are the scripts I've collected for you. See which ones you want to go for."
Wander said as he placed down a couple of files on the coffee table. Then he placed two other files separately. Maevie stopped reading the names on the file as she got curious about those two files.
"What are those?"
"Oh! This… It's for variety show. We'll get to this later. Let's work on the scripts first."
"Okay."
The young lady agreed to the agent's proposal.
Wander had brought a total of six scripts for Maevie to choose from. And amongst them, three caught the actress's eyes.
The first one, 'Page of Promises,' was a campus romance, a youthful story of young students who are finding their own path and experiencing love as they opened up the new pages of life.
The second fell under the genre of contemporary romance. 'Silent Aspiration' narrated the story of a young adult who had just step into society and had been hit by the harsh truth of realism. It portrayed the life struggle and hidden office romance of the young woman, depicting the hierarchical system of a corporation.
Maevie was okay with the two. Although the roles that Wander selected for her were of little significance to the whole drama, she was okay to restart her career with this small characters.
But it was the last one that caught her eyes the most.
It was titled 'Red Flames,' a thriller crime drama exploring the protagonist's journey for salvation after the crimes he had committed in his past while saving himself from the one in the dark who was desperate to avenge.
While Maevie was engrossed in reading the scripts, she did not notice that another companion had decided to join them. One who had been sending arrows at the occupied actress, which unfortunately for the person, made him miss the target.
"Amm… Third young master… would you like to have something." Even the housekeeper was unnerved by the silent stares the young man was giving to his sister.
Let alone Wander, who did not want to be caught up in a familial dispute of the brother and sister. Not again.
"Nah!"
Abel gave a quick dismiss before grabbing an apple and started munching on it. As the seconds ticked by, and the flipping sound of the pages appearing after short intervals, his stares became even more intense that even Maevie sensed it and looked up from the script she was reading.
Seeing that it was Abel, she gave him a short smile before going back to the script reading. Of course, this dismissive reaction from her dissatisfied the third master even more.
'What game is she trying to play this time?'
Wander, seeing that the third young master had no desire of leaving the area focused on the artist under his care.
"Have you taken fancy of any of the script?"
"Yeah! These."
Maevie separated the three scripts she had selected and placed it in front of her agent. Wander read the names of the file one after another. He had already gone through all the scripts, so, he was knowledgeable of the contents.
Page of Promises was adapted from a popular novel and had already had a lot of book fans waiting for the release of the drama. Silent Aspiration had already released the list of the main cast had become one of the most anticipated dramas which would be streaming in the falls of this year. And since the role Maevie would play was not too important, she could get it with the influence of the company.
But Maevie had unexpectedly also selected a third one. 'Red Flames.' Maevie had always been a sucker of wishful romance and had never showed interest in dark theme genre such as thriller, crime, mystery, etc. So, it was surprising for Wander when she picked out this script. He had added it amongst the six just in case. But he never expected her to actually select it.
'How can someone change so much in such a short time?' He wondered.
And the person sitting across them was also sharing the same thought as the agent.
Abel had known Maevie for her whole life. And there were many bad qualities of her that he could spit out and could make a three minutes long diss track. And amongst those qualities of hers was her irresponsibility.
Maevie could never be described as a responsible person. She was the type of person who would throw her duties to someone else while she enjoyed her leisure. She was someone who despised putting effort yet desired to enjoy the luxury of being feed by someone else.
The only reason she even put her littlest effort on her acting career was so that she could remain in the industry and have a chance with Luther. But with her nonexistent acting talent, she was failing in achieving her only goal.
So. The third master was waiting for her slip her pretense of reading the scripts thoroughly, almost looking like a professional. Waiting for her go give up and ask her agent to select anyone for her. That was how it had always been.
But seeing that she was indeed discussing the script with the agent, Abel was wondering what type of soup she was boiling this time.
'Is she really taking it serious now?'
