Chapter 27 - Farewell

A few days had gone by since Maevie had joined the crew. And she was having a more pleasant time than she had expected she would.

And because she had performed exceptional well, the director and the script writer of the drama even decided to add a few more scene for her. Previously, because of her notorious reputation, her presence in the drama was minimized to the maximum they could possibly could. Only keeping the important parts.

But after witnessing her acting, the director had a discussion with the author of the novel who was also a part of the scriptwriter team and came to a conclusion to add more detail to the character Maevie was playing, which they had previously deleted.

This of course, was a great news for Maevie. More screen time. And also more remuneration.

Today was the last day of Maevie in the set. She was on her last scene. It was the scene where the male lead, Steve confessed his love for the female lead Mimi. And Maevie's part was to act as a person who was happy for the two closes friends she had.

But the twist was that Krystal, Maevie's character, had been secretly in love with Steve since their high school. But she never had the courage to confess her feeling. And later when she came to college, she reunited with her childhood friend who also fell for Steve.

She had to smile through her pain as Steve told her that he needed her to his wingman to woo Mimi.

Krystal was happy. She really was. The golden lights reflected in the eyes of the two new lovers. She was happy for both of them. But as she saw the precious smile adoring Steve's face, her dreams of herself being the reason behind the smile was coming to an end. She had finally woken herself from the dream of five years.

She turned always from the celebration the two were having with the rest of their friends. She had blinded herself. Blocked her own feelings to bring happiness to the two. Now… She wanted to morn the death of her one-sided love of five years.

Behind the monitor, the director was observing the scene.

"Camera 4. Do a close up on Maevie's face."

As the girl turned away, the smile she that had been decorating her face slowly slipped away. Sadness written on her face. Tears slowly running down…..

"How bad was she in acting before for her? To get that reputation?" The director was in disbelief.

There were few actors he had worked with who could call upon tears. Specially one who was this inexperienced.

The assistant director who had seen Maevie's previous work after doubting.

"…"

"It was pretty bad actually."

"Really?" The director questioned.

"Yeah!"

"That she must have made a great improvement."

Maevie closed her eyes when she heard the 'CUT' from the director.

"Thank you for the hard work."

She bowed to the crew who had been working with her for alost two weeks.

"Sister Maevie. You did a great job…" Loana ran and hugged her.

"Great work Maevie." The director also came up and handed her a red envelope.

"Here. Here's your reward."

Maevie gladly accepted the reward.

"I've already booked a hall at Delight. You can't slip away from your own farewell dinner, okay?" The Director made a fake stern face.

"No way." Maevie joked. "This is my last chance to empty your pocket. This no way I'd miss it."

.

.

.

"Sister Maevie….. Can't you stay a bit more with me? Please don't leave me with that monkey…. If not…. Then… Then take me with you . Woo…."

It turned out, Loana was yet to build up her alcohol tolerance. The 'monkey who was sitting on her side was giving her the most dangerous side eye that his baby face could make. The girl was clinging onto Toryan, mistaking him for Maevie. But despite the disgust written on his face, the young man did not even try to push the girl away from him.

Maevie who was sitting directly opposite to them was amused at their actions. The two always fought even for the littlest reason and held grudges weighing tones. But from the third person's perspective, she could see that the two had hidden affection in their eyes.

Toryan blushed a little when he saw the understanding smile that was slowly blooming on the older actress's face. He faked a cough to collect himself.

"Sister Maevie. Have you seen the hot search?" He asked.

"If you're talking about the discussion of my participation on the drama… I have." Maevie said before she sipped a bit of the chilled drink that heat up her throat.

It had already been a week since the 'Page of Promises' had announced Maevie's participation in the drama. At first, there was not much reaction from the netizens other than a few haters daily curses and the novel fans being curious about the person who will be playing 'Krystal.'

But two days ago, something seemed to have ignited the haters and they kept on bringing up her poor performances in her previous works and all the scandals she had into the surface. This made the book fans doubt her credibility and started to make noise of disapproval. Some even suspected her of entering the crew by getting onto a big shots bed after being 'thrown out' by the Cacia Family.

Even big entertainment media began to sing songs about the matter, bringing up her two major scandals that had happened not too long ago. Now, Maevie was once again at the top of the hot search.

"Have you offended someone before?" Toryan asked.

It was right for him to suspect that someone could be behind the sudden disruption. After all their production team was not that big and all the artist were pretty much new in the industry. There no need for such busy bees to be attracted to the budding team unless they were being led to by someone with intentions.

"Whom have I not?"
