[WARNING]
[MALICIOUS INTENT DETECTED]
As the alarm rang, Maevie sobered up a little. She looked around for the cause of the alarm and saw the middle age man who was in grey suit. The golden framed glasses with sharp facial features. No matter who saw him, one would not associate the man as someone who with degenerated behaviors.
"Hello. Miss Oz."
"…"
Maevie did not want to put any effort of conversing with such people. So, she just pretended to be drunk and turned away from the guy. As if the person he was talking to was not her. But another Miss Oz who was clearly not there besides her.
"Are you waiting for someone?"
"…"
"Is it you assistant? Did she go to get your car?"
"…"
"I don't particularly have anything of immediate importance to do. I can wait for her with you."
It is said that shamelessness has no cure. And someone who chose to be shameless could not be avoided even if Maevie wanted to.
"No need…" She rejected.
"Please let me. I'm not comfortable with leaving a young lady alone here this late at night." The man insisted.
"And I'm uncomfortable with you being here." Snapped the already irritated Maevie.
"…"
Mr. Noa was shocked. No one had ever been this rude to him. And since he had kept his gentleman image perfectly, no one had ever been so defensive against him.
"Is there a reason why Miss Oz is uncomfortable with me being here?"
"Nothing particular." Maevie looked at him. Boredom written all over her face with a hint of annoyance in her eyes.
"Any woman would be uncomfortable when a stranger who is a man offer to wait for her car in this late at night. So… I hope you understand that and head to where ever you are supposed to be."
Noa did not expected that the girl in front of him, who was known for being young and dumb would be so defensive against him. She did not even leave and opening for him to converse with her properly.
For such people, there had to be a reason to approach. So he thought of something quick and acted on it.
"Actually. Waiting for your assistant was just an excuse. There is a reason why I want to have a conversation with Miss Oz."
"…" 'That is?' Maevie's eyes were asking the question instead of her lips.
"There is a script which had been submitted to my company. And I was thinking that Miss Oz would be a perfect cast for a character in the movie."
"You could have contacted my agent later instead of approaching me though." Maevie showed no interest in the said script.
"I could. But just couldn't help but want to talk to you first about this. If you don't mind, I_"
Noa was interrupted by the ringing of Maevie's phone. The actress opened her phone to see that Nora was calling her. She picked up the call.
[Hello. Maevie?] Came Nora's voice from the other end.
"Yeah?"
[There's a problem.]
"What problem?" Maevie questioned.
[The car wheel seemed to punctured. I don't know what had happened.]
Maevie looked at the man in front of her. There was no doubt it had something to do with this guy. But she did not show any disturbance in her facial expression.
[What should we do? Should we call a cab?]
"Is there any other option? I'll call one. Get to the entrance first."
[Okay. I'll be there soon.]
Maevie kept away her phone after the call ended. Seeing that, Noa asked.
"Is there any problem, Miss Oz?"
"…" Maevie did not even want to answer to him.
Noa Jagger clearly knew what the problem was. After all he was the one who had cause of the puncture. His plan for the day was not to act on Maevie. But to take a step closer to her and bring her guards down.
So, despite seeing that the girl did not want to continue having conversation with him, he shamelessly kept on talking to her as if he was not aware of the unhidden sign of dejection the girl was showing towards him.
"Is your assistant coming? She's taking so much time."
"She'll be here."
Maevie replied as the cab app was trying to connect her to a driver. But maybe because it was late and the location of the restaurant was a little away from the main city, there was no cab nearby and it was taking time to connect her to driver.
Maevie did not have to wait for long as Nora came running to her. The assistant saw Mr. Jagger and greeted him with a smile first.
"Hello Mr. Jagger."
"Hello Miss…" The man did not know her name.
"Smith. It Nora Smith."
"Oh yes… Miss Smith. I overheard your conversation with Miss Oz a few minutes ago. Is there a problem with your car?"
"This…"
Nora was not sure if she should answer to that. She turned to Maevie and saw the annoyance on her face. The actress had not made such face ever since she got into the accident. If she was not wrong, this Mr. Jagger must be reason behind it.
"Nothing much." The assistant replied.
"If there is any problem, I can drop you off at your hotel. Its nearby anyway." Noa suggested.
"That_" Nora was about to refuse when another voice interrupted her from a distant.
"There would be no need for that."
The three gathered at the entrance turned their back to look at he tall figure who was approaching them. And seeing the person, Maevie who was previously guarded let out a smile for the first time since Noa began talking to her.
"Third Brother."
The young lady had forgotten that there was still alcohol in her system and rushed to the man. And almost tripped herself. If not for Abel catching her at the last second, Maevie would have lost at least one of her front teeth.
"Why are you running if you're drunk? Did you drown your brain in liquor or something?"
