Chapter 30 - Someone Cute

"Why are you running if you're drunk? Did you drown your brain in liquor or something?"

The words were harsh but Abel's action of straightening her wrinkled dress made Maevie giggle like a little girl.

"I was just too excited to see you, Third Brother."

Abel who was done fixing his adopted sister's clothes caught the sweet and careless smile of the girl. How long had it been since he saw such smile on her face? The man was not even aware that he had the same smile that mirrored that of his sister.

It was only when the siblings were interrupted that Abel realized that he was smiling like fool with a drunk.

"Good evening, Third Young Master Cacia." Noa greeted.

Abel glared at the man in front of him. And looked down at the silly girl who was hanging on his arms. This man was trying to take away his sister who was drunk.

Abel had not yet forgotten the scene he had seen… The things that had happened in the night club… the terrible things that could've happened. And the same thing almost happened tonight. And this time, right in front of his eyes.

He had come to this restaurant to treat his player who had won a match this afternoon. And during his meal he heard that the 'Page of Promises' crew was also having a dinner party in the same restaurant. The boys were getting wild and he had come out to the balcony to get some fresh air when he saw the figure of his sister and a man who was a stranger to him.

He watched for a minute and saw that Maevie had no intention of talking with the guy but the guy was not getting the signal at all or that he was just ignoring that she did not want have any conversation with him.

Seeing that, Abel did not wait for another second. He rushed down and that led to where they were at the moment. He heard him say that he would drop his sister and her assistant to their hotel.

"I'm not sure if I know this mister." The third young master of the Cacia family was annoyed.

From how he was addressed, this old man clearly knew who he was, who Maevie was. And yet he dared to set his eyes on her.

Noa pulled out a card from his pocket and handed it to Abel.

"I'm just a small-time investor. My name is Noa Jagger."

"Noa Jagger." Abel had heard that name before and knew exactly who the guy.

"I would not call a man who had the ability to trap the Mc Tanlo's only daughter a small-time investor. If anything. You're a big… Huge investor who makes his plan very well that even a big family like Mc Tanlo are at your disposal."

Abel remark made a pause on Noa smile. The older man was clearly not expecting such a sharp remark from the young man. Then he saw the smirk on the face of the girl who was hanging on her brother.

'This siblings… have such rude attitudes.' Noa recognized that the Cacia family was hard to mess with.

But so as to not break his character, he continued to smile.

"It is my greatest fortune that my wife loves me and her family had been my biggest supporter in my life and career."

"…" Abel was not impressed at all.

Seeing the suspicious look on his face, the older man decided to escape for the day.

'There would always be chance later.'

"Miss Oz. Since your brother has come, I'll be leaving now."

"I did not even ask you stay. You should have gone from the beginning."

"…"

Noa was trying hard not to make a face as he greeted Abel for the last time before leaving.

"See you next time. Third young master Cacia."

"Whatever."

And Abel offered him the same attitude as that of his sister. He watched the man got into the car. It until the car disappeared from his sight that he turned to the clingy drunk kitten in his arms.

The girl had a silly smile on her face, which only made Abel's frown deeper.

"Have you not had enough of making drunk messes? Why did you did this much?"

"I did not mean to drink too much. It just…" Maevie pouted at being scolded.

"You…" Abel had more to say. But he did not want to reason with the drunk girl at the moment. So, he turned to her companion.

"I hope you have the answers for my questions."

Nora was cursing in her head.

'Being an assistant is a hard job.'

"Third Brother, I'm just a bit tipsy. I not that drunk."

"You shut up." Abel poked at the girl's forehead before he turned his attention back to the assistant.

"Why are you still here? Why didn't you head back as soon as the dinner party is over?"

"Third Young Master. We were about to head back but the wheel of the car was punctured. So, we were waiting for the cab." Nora answered.

"Punctured?"

"Yes."

"Punctured? Huh…"

Abel was on again reminded of the man who had left just a few minutes ago. He could not help but feel suspicious of the man. No matter how much of a gentleman he looked, the way he was persistent towards Maevie rubbed him in many wrong ways.

"What is Third Brother doing here?" Maevie asked.

"My team won the match today. So, I brought them out for a little celebration."

"Oh… That how it is. Congratulation on the victory." Maevie did a little celebratory jump and tilted her head as she gave a smile worth million.

"… Amm…Thank you?"

Abel was still to get used to this type of Maevie. He had observed the girl for so long. Either the girl had improved her acting skills to a godly level or she had changed her ways genuinely.

He had seen her talk softly and some times act cutesy infront of his parents and Big brother. She was awakward with his twin, but the two seemed to have a different type of understanding of their own. One he did not understand.

While all Maevie did with him was bicker with him left and right.

And now, this drunk Maevie had become clingy to him. Talking to him sweetly and acting a bit spoiled.

Abel had never thought that one day, he would see his most hated person. His nemesis. Maevie Oz. As someone cute.
