Both Able and Llyod took a look into it and was stunned. It contained the call history of Maevie. The amount of call she tried to connect that particular night and the night before. And amongst them, were their names, with the highest number of calls.
"This…"
Able let out while Llyod was trying to process where this was leading to.
Maevie had tried to call many people. But with the time of calls so close, it was clear that the calls were not picked up. Clearly, her 'friends' ignoring her.
"Let me show you something else…"
Tyler said before he opened his laptop and showed him a video. It was not the footage of the accident. But the CCTV of their home, of the living room.
The speed up video showed how Maevie was sitting in the living room facing the door as if she was waiting of someone to walk right into the room. No. She was clearly waiting for them.
"This is the video of the night before she got into the accident. Did she not call you guys then?"
"…"
Able and Lloyd knew the answer but could not reply. She did. But they did not respond to her calls. They watched her as she curled herself up as she kept her eyes on the door, as if she could not dare to miss a single second.
"Now see this."
Tyler opened another video. This time it was that of the night club Maevie was in that night. The compilation video showed the parts where Maevie appeared. There was even the video of the private rooms.
Although it was a private room, due to the occurrence of many crimes, there were surveillance in the private rooms and it was not hidden form the guests.
In the video, they saw Maevie drinking, making calls endlessly…. Again and again…. Although they could not hear her voice, she could see from her body language that she was getting more and more depressed as the time went on.
They watched her, curl up once again, in the room, all alone. Her shaking figure gave out that she was crying. Llyod and Abel had seen her cry multiple times. They were even tired of seeing her tears. Seeing her shed those fake tears.
But it was different this time. Seeing he sob… All alone in the room in that corner… It was different. It brought out an emotion they had never felt for her…
They watched as she came out of the room. They video shifted to that of the corridor. Right in front of their eyes, they saw a man approaching Maevie. So close of any of their liking.
Abel heart was beating faster and faster… he did not notice that his hand had tightened to a fist. He had the urge to enter the video and pull the man away from the small figure. And it only released long after the girl pushed him away and got into her own car. When he saw that the man had not followed the sister he 'hated.'
Llyod too released the breath which he was unaware that he was holding in.
Tyler saw the relief on both their face and knew that they did care for Maevie and were not completely hopeless. But he did not make them see that he was pleased with their reaction. He got points to make.
"You saw that. She called you. She called me. But due to our negligence, she almost landed in trouble there."
Able and Llyod knew what their brother had said was right.
'If she had followed that man…. If the man had not… If he had been forceful…'
Able did not dare to think of the consequences.
'I should've picked up the call when Sienne had asked me to.'
"Why did she not call her agent? Or her assistant?" Llyod thought out loud.
"She did not look sober enough to think logically."
Abel said clenching his fist as he remembered the man trying to take advantage of his adopted sister again.
"Agent or Assistant. They were strangers to her not long ago. But we are her family. I don't think anyone who had been ignored by his or her family would have the hope that a stranger would respond to him or her." Tyler analyzed.
Although it was not the reason behind why Maevie did not call her staffs, it was a fair point to make. The twin brothers finally came to know what bad things could have gone. Or so they thought. Until Tyler showed them the footage of the accident.
At the end, Abel could only cover his face with his hands, trying to control hard not to shake. He hated Maevie. Yes. But he never wanted her to die.
The same was for his twin. Llyod stood still. He thought, if… If Maevie had not gotten out of the car… He did not dare to imagine what could have happened. When Tyler showed Abel and him, the photos of the condition of her car, the driver side that had been squeezed in as if it had been put under a hydraulic pressure, he could not thank more the God, for making Maevie get out of the car that night…
"Stay here and reflect on what you have done."
The second young master remembered the words he had said to Maevie the day she was locked up. Her eyes which had been brightened seeing him come there, with the hopes of him releasing her from that cage, slowly fading away as she hear those words.
The soft "I'm sorry, second brother" that he heard when he turned his back to her could have been the last words, he heard from her. His to her would be… those harsh words….
Tyler watched as the complexion of his two brothers go pale. He knew what they need now was not the continuation of his lecture, but time to process their thoughts. So, he left quietly… But as he was about to walk up the stairs, he added,
"Don't forget to go the hospital."
He did not get any reply. But he was not asking for one so he went to finally get his well-deserved rest that he had been missing out for days. Giving his two brother all the time they needed and also an advice to start correcting their mistakes.
