"sister, sister, sister" Kevin nudged his sister awake.
Jewel grunted sleepily.
"oh come on, what's with you? So lazy"he sighed "wake up. There's something I want to show you"
Jewel sighed in her sleep and opened her eyes tiredly. Kevin grinned "you are awake. Sit up there's something I must show you "
She yawned"Kevin. I'm so tired "
" After this, you won't sleep again " .
Jewel groaned and sat up. She rubbed her eyes and yawned again.
Kevin smiled and showed her a laptop" this morning while doing a quick study " jewel raised up a brow making Kevin to smile sheepishly"fine fine I was watching a quick video, I saw a message and you have an interview scheduled by 8 at wayatt enterprise ".
Immediately Kevin said that, she snatched the laptop and blinked her eyes rapidly to see what was before her in the screen" OMG. Oh my God" she frantically searched for her phone "6:48" she squinted her eyes and gasped " Good lord it's to 7.i have got to get ready before 8. Why didn't you wake me up earlier?. Oh thank you Lord. I never knew it would happen so soon"
"Maybe God didn't want you to suffer"
Jewel smiled and ruffled his hair" I will get us out of this mess. You'll see" she removed her covers and sprang up"I feel so energized" then she skipped happily towards the bathroom.
By 7:30, she was ready. Dressed in a white chiffon blouse, a black pant suit paired with a 4 inches heels, jewel looked outstanding. She did a light makeup; a light colored pink lipstick, eyeliner to bring out her cat eyes and eye pencil to darken her eyebrows. She looked beautiful, she did her hair in a high ponytail but left some strand of her hair to fall on her face. Her skin glowed with radiance and beauty. She was simple and unique.
"How do I look?" Jewel turned to her brother who stood in awe "Kevin"
"Waaaaaaw... Sis you look beautiful. I never knew you could be this beautiful. You dress so casual and plain and old like someone who hasn't seen the world. But today you look like a goddess"
Jewel chuckled at Kevin's blabber of praise " well thank you Kevin. I'll let your wry remark slide for now. Close your mouth a fly could enter. Aren't you going to school today?"
Kevin who was still transfixed snapped out of his reverie" uh-yes -yes-let me go get ready and we can go together. I just need to park my stuff "
Jewel shook her head" alright, I'll be waiting on the porch " Kevin nodded and ran off.
By 7:40 they were already out of the house. Jewel saw Kevin off to school and she took a taxi to take her to wayatt enterprise. By the time she got there, it was 7:54am.
"Shit, 6 minutes left" she hurried inside and met with the receptionist.
"Hi" she greeted the receptionist. The receptionist looked up and wa stunned ' even though she wore glasses, she looks very beautiful and so simple '
"Y-yes how can I help you?"
" I have an interview scheduled 8. So um if you can kindly direct me to the interview room I'll appreciate it"she said with a smile.
" What's your purpose for the interview?"
"A marketer"
" Ah I see. Take the elevator by your right. The interview room number is 506"
"Immediately I enter the elevator and get out, I should find a room with number 506?"
"Yes. Though the room is by your left"
"Ah I see. Thank you" she bowed and hurried to the elevator.
The elevator dinged and she got out. It was a long corridor. She moved forward looking left and right for room 506.
"Aha" she got to the second to the last room by her left. She knocked on it twice.
"Come in"
She pushed open the door and bowed her head "I'm sorry I'm late."
" No no you are just in time."the interviewer ushered her to her seat and sat down smiling ambiguously " now let's start shall we?"he adjusted his glasses. "Your name is jewel Josephine Langford right?"
"Yes"
"Um.. it says you are a graduate at California state university"
"Yes sir"
" Studied business administration am I right?"
"Yes sir"
"Wow" the interviewer shook his head in amazement "pretty smart and still very young" jewel smiled and the interviewer continued "why do you want to go to the marketing department? That's quite the low level for a brainy person like you "
She smiled and replied" let's say I'm applying for an internship. It's not long after I graduated. Also, I need this job to fend for myself and my brother. I also want to start from scratch and maybe with a little bit of hardwork and determination I can get a promotion "
The interviewer nodded his head"good good. Such sincere words from you is enough to give you a promotion right away " he laughed lightly"okay..."he paused , putting his hand in an earpiece to show that he wax receiving a call"y-yes sir." He released a shaky breath and smiled warily"um..." He let out a shaky chuckle" the president wants to finish the interview "
Jewel's face turned into confusion"why? Am I the last one? Did he interview others before me?"
"N-no . I don't know but yes you are the last one "
She tilted her head"huh?"
The interviewer sighed and wiped the sweat forming in his forehead. Jewel looked at him 'is he that terrified?' she would like to see this president anyway.
"I don't know why the president insisted on doing the interview and no he didn't interview others. I guess you're the last and only one."
"Okay??"
Suddenly, the door was opened and a man dressed in a three piece black suit with trousers and fitted black shoes walked in. His black hair was short and trimmed.it was styled like how a kpop idol would style it. Jewel squinted her eyes through her glasses obviously scrutinizing him' can be fun to be with and very easy going but at the same time you should keep your distance '. The other man came in, dressed in a black coat, black shirt, black tie and black shoes to match. his black hair was swept to the back , a strand falling over his right eye. His dark eyes were cold and his face void of emotions.
The interviewer stood up and bowed hastily "m-mr p-president you are here"
' he's obviously the president. his aura is so suffocating and intimidating and frosty ' she thought as she gazed at him.
Ian met her gaze she was obviously observing him.' good I like observant girls '.
He recognized her, she was the one who gave him the wrong slap. She slapped him without any reason.
"Um.. jewel jewel" the interviewer called.
"Huh?" Jewel tore her gaze away from him and turned to the interviewer "yes?"
"That's... The the president"the interviewer said pointing to the man dressed in a coat."greet him"
"Oh" jewel stood to her feet and bowed slightly " hello Mr president, my name is jewel Josephine Langford and I came here for an interview."
"Hmm" Ian grunted went to take his seat . The man dressed in a three piece suit stood beside him.
"Oh I forgot. This is Mr Anthony Mr president PA"
"Oh. Nice to meet you Mr Anthony."
"Let's continue shall we?" Ian said in a bored tone.
" Oh let's continue indeed." The interviewer quickly sat down and continued " you had a tamper with your education?"
"Yes. I had to stop school for a year when my father died and my mother went into coma."
"Oh. I'm sorry. it's personal isn't it?"
She gave an awkward smile "yes"
"Well that's all for the interview. Every available information is here. I must say that you're very qualified to work in wayatt enterprise but mr president here would probably like to address one or two"
Jewel shifted her eyes to ian who was silently observing her. his deep voice spoke "you're qualified in every area. but you react to quickly which can of course lead to hasty decisions that can ruin the system of the company".
"Huh?"jewel was confused"how? When? Why? I haven't even started yet."
Ian's lips curved up a little" like raising your hand on one person who meant no harm but you misunderstood the concept."
Jewel eyes went wide"you...."
Ian leaned back satisfied with the expression on her face" for that reason, you're not qualified for the job "
"This is not fair. What has that got to do with this?" He eyes turned dizzy and she took a deep breath"s-sir this is work. Whatever I've done it's all in the past now. You can't deprive my only way of gaining income "
Ian raised a brow"oh is there?I didn't know "
Jewel suddenly clasped her hands and sniffled"s-sir I beg you. I worked hard for this. I've tried to get into other companies but they didn't accept me and now that I have been a accepted into this one please don't take it ll away from me.w-whatevet I have done I apologize. We can make a deal "
"Deal?"
Jewel nodded"yes, a deal. You let me work in your company and whatever u want me to do I'll do it "
Ian smirked" how bold. You dare to strike a deal with me? Fine then, I love to gamble "
"S-so you accept?
Ian shrugged and jewel hurriedly stood up and bowed "t-thank you sir"
"It's not over." Ian stood up and walked towards her. He looked down on her. To him, she was like an ant, even with the high heels her shoulders barely reached his. Was she that short?. She was small, a little chubby around the cheeks and if one didn't take a closer look, one couldn't see she really had a figure 8. She was voluptuous, her breasts were full and firm and her lips were small and plump perfect for kissing. She didn't have r pointed nose or a high one but she had a small nose like a little dot that only enhanced her beauty. Ian took a gulp as he assessed her body; he stared into her eyes. That chocolate brown eyes that reminded him of hot cocoa in a cold winter night. it was so warm, he felt himself gradually getting lost.
"Mm" Anthony cleared his throat to stop the awkward staring contest between the two of them.
" Be my PA" ian said as he continued looking at her.
Jewel blinked twice and put a little distance between them " sir... But I applied as a marketer and I'm an intern...."
" Be my PA or you won't get another job" he cut her off.
"S-sir"
"5 million dollars for start"
"Huh? It's that my salary?" Her voice dripped with shock.
"No I said for a Start salary is 10million"
"Waaaaaaw....." Jewel was so shocked she practically froze with her eyes wide"t-then how much do you pay interns?"
"50,000dollars"
"Wow that's huge. That's my salary for 5 years "
The three men had a puzzled look on their face. Is she for real or she's just exaggerating?
" Mr president. I accept but I need guidelines in how to be a PA"
"Anthony would teach you. It's time I found a new PA or secretary no? I think Anthony is a bit tired of being the only one" he briefly glanced at Anthony before returning to jewel.
"They are both the same" she muttered.
"Are they?" He looked at Anthony again" give her the contract. You start work tomorrow " he said then turned around and stroded away.
" Miss jewel " Anthony called as he brought out a contract"sign please."
And just like that jewel got herself entangled with the devil.
Anthony took the contract jewel had signed and without saying anything more, walked out.
Jewel turned to the interviewer and bowed politely"I'll take my leave now sir " she ran out hurriedly.
The interviewer shook his head " what a very strange interview."
