Greeting the receptionist, jewel walked in with a big smile . Many a times, she had dreamed of working in a company especially the wayatt enterprise. She was confident about her education but not her background.
Because, these days to hire someone they look at the background, less the education.
But above all, she was happy at least there's evidence to prove education is important after all.
She got out of the elevator and while hurrying to the president's office, she bumped into Anthony.
"Woah.... Slow down" Anthony chuckled as he steadied her.
Jewel breathed heavily "sorry I have to get to the president's office.i can't be late on my first day"
"Well you need not to rush" he gave a quick smile "I'll lead the way. come on "
Jewel followed him to the president's office. On getting there, Anthony knocked on the door and she heard a gruttal "come in"
Anthony opened the door and they both sauntered in.
"H-hello sir" jewel bowed quickly.
Ian gave a taut smile "Miss Langford. How early of you.
"I am sir"
Ian raised his brows"not in your office?"
"I -i just c-came to s-see you s-sir since I'm n-now a new PA" she stuttered.
The man nodded his head"I suppose it's plausible. Well you are welcome. Anthony would show you your office "
Jewel bowed again"Ah.. thank you sir I'll make sure to work hard. I'll take my leave now " she turned and left with Anthony beside her. Ian smirked.
Her office..... Would it be proper to call it an office or an isolation cubicle?No one around. Just her and the cubicle and to make it worse, she was beside the president's office. She felt like a prisoner, the only difference was that she was clad more professionally.
" I hope you like it " Anthony's voice laced with a little humor echoed in her ear drums.
"Y yeah I guess " she tilted her head.
He clapped his hands"well if all's well and nothing to remind you of, I'll leave you to your work then " he gave her a quirky smile and turned on his heels.
How's this an office for goodness sake? I thought I'll have an entire office to myself or a cubicle filled with other co workers like her
Ugh!!
She groaned in her head
" This is a cage" she murmured.
LUNCH TIME....
Jewel stretched her limbs and stood up' finally break time. God it's boring here'
"Food. I need food" she whimpered silently.
She stood up and hurried down. Along the way, she bumped into someone's chest. "I'm sorry" she quickly bowed.
"Miss Langford. What a coincidence" it was Ian , talking in a very rich accent that jewel shivered slightly.
She bowed again "I'm sorry sir"
Ian sighed in irritation "you like bowing. U could have hunchback you know"
"I'm sorry sir" she made to bow again.
"Stop. What are you doing rushing down here?" If he watched her take any more bows he'll lose it "stand straight and look at me. I hate people that are not confident"
"Ah?"
He hates people that bows?
" But sir, this is being respectful"
"Well your respectfulness is a little over the top. I'm not an emperor you'll be bowing to all the time. I'm a very Rich boss" he commented sarcastically
Oh! Was it mentioned that he's sarcastic and egoistic? He actually is .
"I'll try not to bow again sir" she gave a polite nod.
"I asked what you are doing here "
"I came to grab lunch "
He gave a lopsided smile"truly a coincidence Miss Langford. I was about to grab lunch too. Will you walk with me?"
Jewel blinked confusingly "Ah? But sir... I'm your PA you are supposed to stay in your office while I bring your lunch to you sir "
"How lovely . What a responsible PA. Maybe you should be more than just a secretary my wife maybe?"
Jewel blushed. How could he propose something like that so bluntly."I'm n-not w-orthy s-sir. We can go grab lunch if you are ready sir "
Ian tilted his head"you never know. Anyways, lead the way "
"Okay sir "
They arrived at the cafeteria and walked inside. Suddenly, they were the center of attention. Jewel felt uncomfortable while Ian looked nonchalant.
He turned to look at her" if you stare at them they'll stare at you too.keep your head up don't let anyone intimidate you" he wisphered.
" That will make them stare the more." She wisphered back.
Ian smiled dauntingly" don't you know what a haughty look looks like? Should I show to you?" He raised his chin up and walked to a table arrogantly. Jewel rushed behind him .
They sat opposite each other and ordered their food. Jewel with burger and fries without ketchup and orange juice while Ian .... Well ordered coffee and toast
Very plain! . jewel nodded at that thought.
"what you nodding for?"
"Nothing sir" she shook her head and continued to eat.
After eating, they were walking back to their offices.
"Sir" jewel called.
"Hmm"
"T-thank you you for eating with me Sir. B-but the stares became too much"
Ian smiled sardonically "why? Are you still embrassed? You will have to get used to it in future"then he straightened his back and walked away.
Get used to it in the future? What does that mean? Jewel calmed her heart " be calm be calm" she told herself.
Ian sat in his office and recalled jewel's face her shocked and easily flushed face. So far, he became amused by this supposedly brave little girl who had the audacity to slap him. He chuckled. She impressed him with her behavior , she was the only girl he was interested in . She had a very intriguing personality.
"Fuck" he couldn't get her out of his head
Was it obsession or fantasy? Well he would know soon as time goes on. He gussed he'll have to make her his soon but he had a problem.
"So innocent" he voiced out. A knock disrupted his thoughts.
"Come in" he said in a gruff voice. The door was opened and Anthony came into view.
"Your step aunt and her daughters are here"
Ian's eyes became cold " how did they enter?"
"They were making a fuss"
"Despicable" he spat out coldly "fine. Let them in I don't want them to turn my company info an entertainment industry."
" But sir.."
"I want to hear their preposterous and bizarre words "he smiled devilshly" I want to hear their acted out words . Time for some drama no?"
Anthony gave a befuddled look 'sir is this okay?'
Ian noticed the look and sighed" let their drama in my office not downstairs "
"Oh.. I'll get them now sir "Anthony gave a quick bow and left.
5MINUTES LATER...
"I thought you wouldn't welcome us in I was beginning to think you're rude" Penelope ambrose walked inside alongside her two daughters. She wore a sky blue blouse which was tucked in a white A line skirt and a creamy white christianloubotin heels. Her short blonde hair was styled perfectly and was smooth. She wore heavy makeup. Diana and Jessica stood stiffly behind their mother. They were twins, they had the same hazel eyes. Diana's hair was long blonde and curly while Jessica was short blonde like her mother. Both wore a denim short skirt and tube top covered with knitted cropped sweater.
"Penelope, I allowed you in here because you're turning the hall into a studio. I'm giving you five minutes for your rubbish talks"he spat coldly and leaned in his chair.
"How dare you talk back at me " Penelope seethed in anger" do you think this is yours? You are just a son of another illegitimate son. If my father hadn't controlled his urge, he wouldn't even think of having my bastard half brother"
"As I recall vividly, your mother wasn't married to my grandfather.if not for your stupid partiach system, we won't have scumbag human beings like you"
Diana and Jessica gasped. Did their step cousin just call their mother a scumbag? They were incensed how dare him?
Jessica, though being the younger one was very defiant spoke up "don't talk to my mother that way. You are privileged to be a wayatt only because grandfather couldn't control his urge. Don't think you belong in this family"
Ian sighed obviously irritated and tired with their blabbing " your time's up" he casted a lazy glance at Jessica and the latter shrank " you came here just to tell me this?"
"No"Penelope answered "I came so you can sign this" she brought out a document and placed it on the table " sign this and we'll let you off - we won't disturb you. Don't think your mere company and you being the heir to the wayatt enterprise is enough for us to back down "
Ian took the document and opened it , he glanced over it and gave an infuriating shout of laughter and for a moment, Penelope thought he looked like the devil. She felt chills run down her spine as she gazed at Ian who had a malign smile" you want me to sell 50% of wayatt enterprise to your husband pharmaceutical company under the pretense of donating isn't it? How stupid do you think I am?"
"It's the only way, besides it's approved because it's a family company "
Ian let out a mocking laugh"family? one minute ago, you were pointing fingers at me and now you want to shake hands with me? You disgust me. I'm afraid your brother is there no?"
"You...."Penelope gritted her teeth, huffed and went out with her two daughters strolling behind her. Ian looked at the document on the table, tore it to shreds and threw it away.
They'll have to hypnotize him to do their biddings.
