The boat shattered noiselessly among the blades of grass. I watched as shards and splitters flew in all directions. They fell to the ground reminding me of the descent of a giant firework.
Both Lux and I stood perfectly still for what felt like an eternity. Neither of us could speak for pure shock at what had happened.
The Lyrra girl stopped what she was doing and knelt near the ground, I watched transfixed as she ran her hands over the grass. I saw tears start to drip off her chin and then she stood up.
The ground shuddered and shook like an earthquake as she ran sobbing toward her home.
It was only when she had disappeared that I started to breathe again.
"Iz! We got to find Yuni," Lux snapped me back to the real world, he grabbed my hand and started to run toward the wreckage. I tripped trying to keep up as we dodged through the grass.
