We told Lis about how I had seen Yuni leaving and how I had tried to stop her. We also told her about the Lyrra girl and the boat.
Lis remained calm but I could see emotions just behind her eyes. I saw shock, fear, and sorrow.
Lin had nuzzled her way under the arm and I hugged her to the side of my body.
"Is Yuni going to die," She whispered. She sounded so much more like a child then she usually did. I had to remind myself that she was more a child than myself.
Lis shook her head slowly, "We won't know for a day or two, we have stabilized her to the best of our ability."
I could see the grief already though, I think even Lis knew it was unlikely Yuni would survive.
We heard a tiny sound come from the bed. Yuni had opened her eyes a tiny bit. She spoke in a low almost inaudible voice, "I am mortally wounded, you've done well my child but the skies will soon claim me..."
She suddenly was hit with a fit of coughs.
