Chapter 6: Visitor
SUN IS up and so is she. Lu Xia is in her kitchenette, preparing her favorite creamed coffee on the coffeemaker obviously. She brewed some black beans and when it's done, she mixed it with a spoon of powdered milk and added some two cubes of white sugar.
Slowly walking back to her room, she keeps on stirring her coffee but stops on her track when she hears a knock outside the door.
Her eyebrow raised. "Who's that?"
Still confused, she placed her coffee on the table in the living room and walked towards it.
The person outside the door knocks again. "Wait up!" she said and immediately opened it.
"Hello—" She stilled. A man wearing a baseball tee- sleeves are colored black and the body is just plain white, aviator classic sunglasses, black loose fit jeans, converse mono black shoes and a black fanny pack bag on his shoulder unto his chest.
And then grin on his face. He's wearing it again.
"Done checking me out, Ms. Lu?"
She scoffed, her annoyance for him comes back again "Need anything? Why are you here?"
He smiled cheekily. "Can I go in first?"
She sighs and widens the door. "Get in."
"Thanks." and he immediately passes through her then comfortably sits on her dirty white mid-century modern couch.
"So.." she sat on the single couch on his side. "Can you answer my question now, Jinx?"
He grimaced. "Just He Tian."
She shrug. "He Tian, then."
"Well, when will we start our plan?"
And she's confused. "Plan? About what?"
"For the collaboration. I actually have some sample outlines—"
"Hey wait up." she motioned her hand in front to stop him from talking. Her forehead creased.
"And when did I say yes to the collaboration?"
He blinked. "Oh?"
"Oh?!" she repeated sarcastically and he actually pouted at her afterwards.
"Come on!" he leaned on the couch. "Just say yes!"
"And why would I?"
He stilled a bit. "Yeah." he looked at her. "Why won't you?"
She sighs. "No particular reason. It's just 'cause I'm not into collaborating with someone."
"That's it?" he doesn't look convinced by her answer but who cares anyway? Definitely not her.
She nodded twice. "Yep."
"Hmm.." her body went still when he put his arm on the arm-rest of the couch, hand on the side of his face, and vulgary stared at her.
"W-What?" she blink and ask awkwardly.
He tsked and crossed his arms— slightly shook his head afterwards.
"I don't believe you."
She grimaced. "Don't care."
"Hey!"
She stands up from the single couch and gets her cup of creamed coffee on the side.
"Don't want to." she said and took a sip to taste the hot— no, warm coffee.
"Tch. I can taste the bitterness now." said with a bit of annoyance and went back to her unwanted visitor.
"Is this all that you want?" he didn't answer. "Then you can leave my house, Jinx."
"He Tian, Ms. Lu"
She rolled her eyes. "Yeah whatever." She turned her back on him and was about to go into her room but he spoke again.
"Your house.." she faces him while her brows are raising.
"I know my house isn't that big and I didn't need that anyway 'cause—"
"It feels lonely." she stilled.
"H-Huh?"
His eyes roamed around the place before it went back to her. "Your house feels lonely and alone, Lu Xia."
"..." she has no words for that.
What he said is actually true. This house, it's been years since she lived here.. alone.
She never had anyone who could live with her. No family or even friends that she has enough to be with.
And she got used to it. It didn't bother her anymore and she's not thinking about it— but not until this man that owns nut brown orbs in front of her opened that topic.
"It feels lonely so you are lonely, right?" he exclaimed and grinned. "Can I stay here?"
She gasps. "And can I throw this coffee to your face?!"
"Woah!" He stood up and crossed his arms. "Just kidding." he said while chuckling.
"Well, it's not funny." She's getting seriously annoyed now and the latter just grinned again.
She puffs a loud breath. "Look, I'll go straight forward this time, alright?" her eyes glistened in annoyance and she glared at him.
"Get out!"
She's half-shouting now to tell that she's really annoyed but again, his grin just widened.
"Not until you say yes to the collaboration."
"Seriously?!"
He nodded. "Yep!" popping the p.
"Tch." She sighs. Looks like she can't get through this. She has no choice then. "Fine!"
He gasped a little. "Really?" she just nodded unwillingly as a response.
"Great!"
"Now get out—"
"No. We will start today immediately--"
"He Tian!"
"What?" he chuckled. "I'm just glad, your highness."
She shook her head undeniably by the man.
"Whatever. Stay there. I'll be right back." and pointed to her couch.
He smiled and playfully bowed like royalty. "Yes, your highness."
She scoffed. This thick face!
