"Avery! My lovely child. Wake up and get ready to bring forth justice to this dismal world." a voice rang out.
Avery groggily got up, the bags under her eyes dark and bulging indicating an other restless night.
Today was the day that Avery would officially join the town guards in protecting the town. Something she had strived for ever since she had been rescued by them. She quickly washed up and put on her new crisp uniform.
Looking in the mirror she saw that the dark green of the uniform coupled with the black armor complimented her dark skin nicely. Her brown hair was tied back in a ponytail. The dark red of her scales giving off an assertive vibe as her tail gently swayed splitting at the midway point, something that occurred during her early teenage years. Her expressionless visage adding to her allure.
"I can't believe my little girl is all grown up and ready to help her pops vanquish the inclement wickedness that has plagued this mortal plane." a male voice spoke. She turned around and her adoptive father came into view.
A muscular dragonkin with firey red hair that matched his scales and bronze coloured skin. He stood at a massive 6'4" with a heroic aura that made everyone around him feel safe. His handsome features made every lady that gazed upon him swoon. His tail was nearly identical to Avery's with the only difference being the colour of their scales. His blood red eyes matched Avery's.
"
Avery looked very much like Alister's daughter. Infact whenever she told anyone that she was adopted they would assume that she was joking.
This was very helpful to Avery as she could easily pass for a dragonkin and nobody would question it. That was how she had seemlessly blended into the community these past eleven years.
"Dad I am ready we should get going if we do not want to be late." Avery stated.
Walking to where the ceremony was to be held the pair was stopped several times.
"Avery congratulations on your inauguration, I feel at ease knowing that Damerel is protected by good people." the baker's wife called out.
" Thank you ma'am, I will try my hardest to ensure the safety of Damerel."replied Avery.
" I knew it was only a matter of time before you succeed in your dream. Well done!"
"Warmest congratulations on your achievements."
" We knew that you'd ace the exam."
It took them over an hour to reach the town square when it typically took them only fifteen minutes. This was due to all the people who stopped the pair to say their well wishes.
The square was more crowded than usual, the smell of grilled meat reached their noses. The spices used to season it lingering in the air. The crowd bustling noisily, excited by the festivities.
" We should get into our positions. The ceremony is about to start." Avery stated.
