Chapter 13 - chapter 13

I ran down the blood covered streets looking for my family. The soldiers chasing after me. Thump Thump Thump. The sound of their feet like thunder on the pavement. The distinct smell of sulfur in the air.

I turned left towards my home .Please please be safe I thought. I turned right and hid behind some storage bins outside a store. The soldiers ran past me.

I waited a few seconds and snuck out. I turned back towards my home ignoring the cries of those dying in the streets.

The thundering grew closer and I dove into the bushes my neighbor had planted, the thorns cutting into my skin.

My eyes were fixed on the door to my house which was closed shut and looked unscratched to my relief.

My hands fumbled in my pockets searching for the keys as I waited for another squad to pass by.

I lunged for the door as soon as the cost was clear and managed to lock it behind me just as the next squad was rounding the corner at full speed.

I made my way to the kitchen that had a safe room connected to it, feeling thankful for it for the first time since my wife had insisted on it.

His family would be safe in there.

Then he opened the kitchen door and fell to his knees.

What awaited him was the sight of his daughter. His cute little innocent daughter who was less than three years old. His daughter who was just learning the to spell with him yesterday. Her lifeless body hung impaled from a spear. Her blood dripping on the marble flooring as her empty eyes stared right at his as if asking him why he wasn't there to protect her.

He then spotted his wife's red hair on the floor. She didn't move even when he called out her name. Tears streamed down my face as my daughter's body fell from the spear onto the floor with a thump.

I couldn't move or breath. Squish. I watched as my daughter's body caved in from the weight of the foot that stepped on her. Her blood hitting my face woke me from my stupper .

My body moved before my mind could think.

I was sprinting down my lawn then all I could see was black. The pain in my abdomen told me that I was conscious.

My hand went to where it hurt. It felt wet. I lifted my fingers to my face covered in red blood.

" Nice shot Ricky."I heard.

" I just don't plan on letting any of these vile creatures get away." someone else replied.

The thundering slowly faded to silence and the cold set in.

Avery sat up in her bed breathing hard. She could hear the blood rushing in her ears as her head spun. Her body trembling from the scenes.

Even after eleven years she still wasn't used to dying in her dreams every day.

Her desire for revenge grew by the day. Maybe defamation wasn't enough maybe the only way to get justice was to expunge them from this world entirely so that they couldn't bring harm to anyone else.
