"There are about ten demons who are currently alive and accounted for not including you of course." Harriet started to talk and Avery nodded encouragingly.
"Everyone is always on the move with almost no way to contact each other. We keep track by telling the other about the demons we have met and that's how we keep count."She went on as Avery listened.
"It's not very effective but it keeps us safe. Especially if someone is being tracked like I am right now. Oh right!" She exclaimed.
"The hero's party! I was being chased by the hero's party. They have my broach. You need to stay away from me." She hurriedly moved away from Avery.
Avery had to spend the next half hour calming her down. Finally she got a summarized version of events.
Harriet was walking around the streets of the capital because she thought that she could hide in plain sight in the place where they would least suspect her to be. Obviously her plan had failed as low cut backs were very popular at that time. And what's worse was she had dropped her broach, the only item she had left from her mother, which landed right in the hands of Agatha.
The hero's party, on their quest to rid the world of all things they perceive as evil, had chased her all over the country. Even now they were hot on her tail using the broach to track her all the way to Damerel.
This was why she had been stealing food from whoever was dumb enough to fall for her schemes.
Harriet stopped talking and Avery fell into deep thought. She now had four thing on har agenda:
1) make the broach disappear without suspicion.
2)contact the rest of the demons.
3)get revenge on the hero's party.
4)keep her identity hidden.
Right now the most important thing was to make the broach in question disappear. Harriet happily provided her with the description of the broach, a simple green frostia flower broach.
Avery made a mental note of the description and decided to return home before Alister noticed her absence.
"I will do something about that broach, you should probably change locations and vary your sleep cycle as much as possible so that they don't catch on to this place."Avery stated leaving. Harriet just nodded.
Avery arrived in front of their house and noticed the light coming from the living room.
She entered quietly only to come face to face with a concerned looking Alister. No words were said as Alister was used to her taking walks in the forest when she couldn't sleep. But that didn't keep him from worrying about her even going as far as to impose a time restriction of two hours on her, which she barely stayed in today.
She made her way to her room and collapsed on her bed.
There was much to do and much more to hide but no progress could be made exhausted.
