Chapter 10 - chapter 10

Avery awoke breathlessly once more the final memorial of a demon projecting itself in her dreams yet again. She had gotten used to seeing the point of view of random demons in her dreams.

The faces of the soldiers seared into her mind. Avery's thoughts started spiraling down a vengeful path.

"Avery are you awake yet. I have something exciting for your first day on the job!"her father's voice called out.

Avery quickly got ready and headed to the table for breakfast.

"What do you have planned?"Avery asked .

"You'll see when you get there." He replied.

They ate in comfortable silence after that , the way Avery preferred.

A stern knock on the door interrupted them just as they were clearing the table.

"Sir THEY have arrived." Rothe one of the elites informed them through the door.

"Ah yes , Avery let's go meet your first assignment." Alister nodded.

They followed Rothe to one of the newly constructed houses made for adventurer groups.

Avery found this odd since most adventurers were more than capable of protecting themselves.

Entering through the door she found herself staring at the faces she saw the most often in her dreams.

"Allow me to introduce you guys. This is Avery. She will be your escort during your stay in this region. Avery this is the most famous adventure party in the world known for bringing justice on the demons who sought to plunge the world into chaos." Alister fawned over them.

Rothe saw that Alister was making the party uncomfortable with his swooning and hurriedly made some excuse to prevent an incident.

Avery was left alone with the party before she could process the situation.

"May I know what's on the agenda for today." Avery's training kicked in.

"We plan to kick back and relax for the day. We might go do some sight seeing if we feel like it. Do you have any recommendations for what's good around here?" A small girl in mage robes questioned curiously.

" There are a number of places to enjoy during your stay here. What type of places do you enjoy?" Her body was on autopilot.

"We like all sorts of things. You know what why don't we randomly pick places to go as we see them." The mage chirped

"Alright." Avery stated.

"This is boring, I'll be in my room taking a nap , scream if you need me." The rogue mumbled.

Everyone in the party made their excuses and left to go do their thing. Well everyone except the mage.

" You're very pretty. Why did you become a guard when you could easily have become an idol in the capital?" The mage enquired.

" I'm good being a guard." Avery replied.

The mage then started poking Avery

" You're no fun." She whined .

" Agatha she is not your toy. Leave her alone." A deep voice came from the backyard.

The mage who's name was Agatha ran off like a kid cought doing something naughty.

"Sorry about her . She doesn't know the word boundaries or personal space." The voice continued.

" It's quite alright." Avery replied stoically.

That was the only interaction Avery had for the rest of her shift.
