Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Aaron POV

'I'm still waiting for that email, Sam.' I told my best friend over the phone.

'Yea, I know, I know. I will get back to you as soon as possible.' I heard him curse.

'For an acting CEO, you sure are doing a lousy job, my friend.' I chuckled as I gulped down the last drop of my wine.

'And for an actual CEO, you sure are lazy as fuck.'

'Is that how you talk to your boss?' I walked over to my cabin for another bottle of wine, only to find it empty.

Shit.

'Oh I'm sorry, boss.' I heard Sam say sarcastically and I laughed at him.

'If you weren't my friend, you would be fired by now.'

'Well, it's a good thing then that I'm your best friend. I have sent the email.' I hear a ding on my laptop.

'Thanks. I will get to it now.' I sighed deeply as I hang up the phone.

Being a CEO of the largest shipping company in the world was never easy, adding being blind on top of that.

I know what you are thinking: that my life is probably fascinating... it's not.

I don't really remember the first five years of my life but I know I was born blind. My father, Jeremy Light was- still is- the Alpha king of all werewolves.

My father never really liked me because I was blind. Imagine a six year old being told how much of a disgrace he is just for being blind.

My mother, Queen Luna Eliza Light, was blessed with another child, my younger brother, Alex. Alpha Jeremy was beyond happy to finally have a normal son.

I was locked inside my room the day Alex was born. My mother and Alex were the only ones who visited me. We were close friends with my brother until he turned ten and began to shut me out.

For thirteen years, my father kept whispering words in my ear until I finally broke down. I realised my family was never going to let me out and I made peace with it.

Even my mother had no need to lock my door anymore because she knew I didn't have the guts to face anyone especially after I was announced dead to the whole pack.

I used to cry about it but crying gets you no where in life.

I knew I was different when I got Ralph, my lycan, at the age of thirteen. A lycan is a much much better version of a werewolf, not to mention we walk on two legs. The only downsize to that is the fact that lycans are much harder to control than werewolves but Ralph and I, we're in sync.

Werewolves usually get their wolf at the age of eighteen, and those with Alph blood at fifteen. That is when they begin to find their mates: that one special person who will be with you through thick and thin for eternity.

Everyone in my pack, except for me, was a werewolf. There are about fifty packs altogether and each pack has an Alpha to lead them. Kinda look at it this way:

There is America and inside America there are different cities which have different ministers looking after them and then there's the President, who is superior to everyone. Packs, Alphas and the Alpha King.

Each pack consists of about five hundred people, ours being the largest with more than a thousand.

We interacted a lot with humans as they had resources useful to us but they can never be trusted. A few years ago, we discovered that some humans had started an organisation to hunt us down, attempting to use us as lab rats.

They discovered we were weakened by silver and wolf bane so we just try to stay out of their turf as much as we can.

Werewolves aren't the only thing that that exists in this world. There are also vampires and witches. A few centuries ago, hybrids and phoenix also existed.

A phoenix was believed to be the most powerful spernatural creature of all as it could live up to five hundred years.

It is said the first phoenix gave its fire and healing powers to a human. I really don't know how true the stories are as no one has ever seen a phoenix.

Then there is a hybrid which is a combination of two species. Both of those creatures are extinct. They were killed on sight as people believed they were stronger and were a threat to supernatural existence.

I met my best friend Sam when I was fifteen. That was the first night I snuck out at home. I saved him when he was seconds away from being a vampire's meal. That was my first kill.

I remember him crying like a newborn baby after I saved his life. I knew the very moment I set my eyes on him that he could be trusted.

We became friends then and he taught me about his world while I taught him about mine.

By the time I turned twenty-four, I had started my own company, with a little help from Sam, of cause. I made Sam the acting CEO. He deals with most of the stuff whilst I deal with the major ones.

I have never set foot inside my company. I finalize every deal with emails, no zoom. I only see the world with colours. My human side is blind but my lycan can see perfectly, hence the colours. I see colours around.

Human are green, werevolves are yellow, vampires are black and witches are blue. That's how I distinguish anyone from everyone.

I guess you can say it is kinda fascinating.

My family is still oblivious to all of this of cause. There was a time I actually wondered how my father would react when he found out about all his blind son's accomplishments but the voices in my head always won that debate.I was already dead in his eyes.

I wanted to run away but the thought of my family came in my mind everytime. Even though they were were horrible to me, they were still mine.

I opened my laptop to check the email Sam had sent earlier but quickly closed it and hid it under my bed when I smelt a familiar scent outside my room.

'Hello, mother,' I say casually as soon as she opened the door.

'I have always wondered how you do that.' I heard her walking towards me. She reaches for my face and I dodge her hand.

'Anyone would know your scent if they had been locked up here for the last twenty-one years, no?' I crossed my arms before getting to the point,

'What do you want, Mother?'

She let out deep breath. 'Alex is being crowned King next month.'

I sat there listening to my mother tell me that nonsense. I was the most richest eligible bachelor in the state so I didn't really give a shit about spending my whole life seated in some room, having to solve every stupid problem of all these people.

I scratched my head a little. 'I'm not really sure why I needed that information, but, congratulations to him.'

'Aaron, he's your brother and he...' She began to say but I cut her off.

'Mother, please, I'm really not in the mood today.' I told her bluntly and she gave me a look that almost made me feel guilty.

There was silence for a while until I spoke up.

' Well, this was such a lovely visit, thank you.'

'Are you kicking me out?'

I inhaled dramatically. 'I wouldn't dare. You will know when I kick you out. And please ask someone to bring me a bottle of red wine.'

I walked to the door and opened it widely for her. ' I will waiting for that wine.'

She walked slowly and stopped besides me. She gave me that motherly smile I hadn't seen in a while. She stood for a few more seconds before walking away and I closed the door behind her.

I closed my eyes, trying to gather my thoughts.

I was about to take out my laptop again when the door suddenly opened and the last person I wanted to see was standing at the door.

'Hello, brother.'
