Sofia POV
Such beautiful eyes, yet they seemed to hold so much pain. My hands touched the soft fur on its face. I don't even think my hair was this soft. The way it responded to my touch sent a smile on my face.
'Do you really think a human can kill a vampire, much more to reap their hearts out?'
'I agree with Sean, she couldn't have done this?'
The continuous talking interrupted my sleep. I groaned loudly as the pains began to settle in.
'She is waking up.' My eyes travelled to the three men in the room. Where was I?
'How are you feeling?' I looked up to the man who had spoken to me. He had a handsome face with a nasty scar on his left cheek.
'Where am I?'
'Why don't you tell us how you ended up near our borders?' Another man asked and I looked at him. Although he was equally handsome, there was something about his eyes that made me feel a little uneasy. He continued,
'Are you a rogue?'
I have heard this term before. Since I was a supernatural nerd, I had read almost everything about supernatural beings. There was a library in town and I always went there when Rachel sent me on errand, although it always resulted on getting my ass kicked because I always lost track of time.
A rogue was a werewolf without a pack, either the reason was being banished or by choice.
'Please don't kill me,' I started to plead with them.
'Maybe I won't if you tell us how you mananged to kill those three men.' The second man asked as he come a little closer and I backed to the wall.
'Eli, you are scaring her', said the man with the scar.
'I didn't. A werewolf killed them. They tried to rape me but a werewolf came to my rescue.' I left out the part where the wolf changed. They wouldn't believe me anyways.
'Any updates on who killed those worthless things?' A voice came from the stairs as a man slowly descended.
Was every man handsome in this place?
'Your Highness.' All the three man said altogether as they bowed their heads.
'Any updates?' He asked again.
'She said a werewolf killed those vampires.' The scar man said, still with his head bowed down.
The man addressed as "Your Highness" looked at me and I stared back at him. He had striking green eyes. His blonde hair was pushed back, with a few stubborn strands sticking out.
A hot slap woke me from my thoughts and I winced in pain.
'You don't stare at His Highness!' The man- Eli shouted at me.
I already weak from the beating I got earlier in that forest and now I was feeling worse.
'Set her free.' His Highness announced and I panicked. Where would I go now?
'Please don't send me away, I have no place to go.' I reached out to touch his shoes but a kick landed on my stomach and I lost consciousness.
Something soft was beneath me. I have never laid on anything this soft before. My body was refusing to move but I forced my eyes open. I looked around the room and the smell of medicine invaded my nose.
The door opened to reveal a woman wearing a white lab coat. God, even she was beautiful.
'Good, you are awake. How do you feel?' She was writing something in a book she was carrying.
'A little better.' I answered her. There were still little pains on my back but it was bearable.
'That's a good thing then.' She continued to write in her book.
Her blonde hair was waving around her face because of the wind from the open window. She somehow made the glasses she was wearing look sexy on her.
'You are so beautiful.' I blurted out. She seemed to be taken back a little and I wanted to find a hole to sink in.
She let out a hearty laugh, showing a perfect row of white teeth.
'Thank you.' She smiled and I smiled back.
'You are quite pretty as well.'
'Now you are just being nice.'
'I'm serious. Apart from the little black spots, you are quite lovely.' I don't know why that made me blush. Probably because this was the first time after Maria, that someone was being nice to me.
'I'm Sofia.' I introduced myself.
'Aria, the pack's doctor.' She smiled again.
I had a strange feeling that Aria and I were going to good friends.
My mind went back to earlier and I couldn't help but wonder what decision await for me. I silently prayed he didn't decide to sent me back because this time, I was sure I was going to die. As if on cue, the door opened and the scar man walked in.
'Bryan.' Aria said happily.
'Your Highness', Bryan bowed his head. I was taken back. Just how many Highnesses were there?
Aria frowned. 'I have told you not to call me that. Call me Aria, please.'
'Your brother would kill me if he heard that.' Bryan said, his head still bowed down.
' Cousin, and he isn't here, is he?'
Bryan lifted his head slowed. 'No, Your- Aria.'
'There. Now that wasn't so bad, now was it?' I didn't miss the faint smile on her lips on Bryan called out her name.
Wait. Did she like him?
Most probably and judging from the way Bryan was avoiding eye contact with her, he probably liked her too.
'You came for something?' Aria broke the silence.
'Yes, His Highness decided to let her...', he pointed at me with his head. '...stay. She is to work at the Royal house.' He finished off.
I wanted to scream but I refrained myself. Atleast I didn't have to go back. I could have a new life here.
'Thanks Bryan.' Aria dismissed him.
'I'm so happy I wish I could scream.'
'You know you are going there as a maid, right?'
I smiled at her. 'Yea, I know. But working here as a maid is much better than being out there.' She also smiled at my words.
'Well, you will be in better shape in a few days. I will ask the head maid to take it easy on you.'
'Please don't, I don't want anyone to hate me. First I'm a human and now I will be working at a Royal house, people might start talking.' Aria hummed in response.
'I guess you are right. But if anyone bullies you, come straight to me.' She said in a kind voice and I wondered,
'Why are you so nice to me? I mean, you are a princess and I'm just.. me.' I shrugged my shoulders as I asked her.
She let out a sigh before answering, 'Well, I guess you can say like at first sight. It's really difficult to have real friends when you are a princess because everyone wants to be at your good side, always showering you with praises because you have something to offer. You called me beautiful because you actually thought I am beautiful and not because I'm a princess and you feel obligated to say that. So I just thought and feel you are good person.' I processed her words and snall tears ran down my cheeks.
'Why are you crying?' She looked somewhat concerned.
I smiled through my tears, ' there are happy tears. I have never had a friend before.' She chuckled before answering,
'Well then friend, it's time to get going.' I quickly dressed into a dress Aria had given me.
She called Bryan and told him to escort me to the Royal house as she still had a lot of things to do.
'I will be here if you need me', she said, waving goodbye at us.
It was a twenty minute walk from the hospital to the royal house. We passed through the community and I didn't miss the judging eyes from the people. Suddenly I began to shrink.
'Don't worry, there are just surprised. There has never been a human inside out territory', Bryan whispered.
We reached the Royal house gate a few minutes later. I stood frozen to the ground as I gawked at the view in front of me.
Wasn't this supposed to be a house? This was a freaking palace!
The gate opened automatically and we entered inside. No words could express how beautiful this place was, simply magnificent.
We walked towards the main door which was heavily guarded by armed men. We stood at the door and Bryan rang the bell.
This was it. The start of my new life.
