Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 - Feelings

"This was too easy." Elanor thought to herself. To think that after all these years, Eunice Parker was still as naive and gullible as before. Five years ago, thanks to Eunice, after her interview on Channel One, her viewer ratings skyrocketed. She was immediately promoted and given the most airtime on the Channel, becoming one of the most popular TV hosts in Country C.

I'll send the details to your assistant, it was a pleasure meeting you again." she said and exited the place. The smile on Eunice's face faded immediately Elanor walked out. An amused expression spread across her entire face. Anyone would find it scary for a person to be able to change their expressions so quickly. Eunice clicked her tongue and got back to her workout.

...

At Dusk Co.

Marcus had just dismissed everyone present at a board meeting and headed back to his office thoroughly, exhausted. His eyes burned with pain and fatigue, but the goddess of slumber evaded him. Secretary Sam followed behind and suddenly called out. "Boss, Mr Daniel just arrived and has been sent over to your office."

In his office

Marcus rolled his eyes at the figure leisurely sitting on his couch with legs crossed and a cup of coffee in his hand. "And what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?" Marcus walked up to the man in black.

This man was Daniel Silver, the most 'notorious playboy' in Counrty C. Currently, he was the top manager at Dusk Studios, one of the companies under the Dusk Conglomerate which Marcus currently owned. He had ink-black hair and very defined features. He gave off a charming devil aura that could make anyone swoon no matter who they were. "Can't I just drop by to see my best friend?" He said with a smug expression. "Tsk!" Marcus scoffed and sat at his desk. Daniel taking the initiative to visit him was extremely laughable.

"Okay, you got me, Crestwood. I actually heard a piece of gossip within the socialite circle and wanted to find out if it was true." He placed the cup of coffee on the sofa table and took a seat on the chairs behind Marcus's desk. "Hmm?" Marcus arched his eyebrows he honestly had no idea of what Daniel was saying. "Director Sid's anniversary celebration." He rapped his figures against the table in anticipation. "Oh, that?" Marcus didn't know the matter was already abuzz in the socialite community. "Well..." Marcus explained into details the events that unfolded that night. "Haha!" Daniel just laughed in mockery as the man opposite him shot daggers at him through his eyes. "Sister-in-law is really too much!" Daniel realised his mistake clamped his lips down. He had actually referred to Eunice as 'sister-in-law'. Marcus's gaze turned cold. "Relax, it's not such a big deal. So, how did it feel seeing her after all those years?" Daniel asked.

After the celebration, Marcus mind kept on wandering to that encounter. His thoughts and emotions had been scattered all over, and he couldn't focus. Now that Daniel had asked such a straightforward and precise question, Marcus's mind finally began to steadily analyse his emotions and thoughts. "I don't know." He closed his eyes whole his heart rate went up drastically. He felt a wrenching pain in his heart, but nothing could ease it. "How did he feel?" The question relayed in his mind several times. He wasn't sure how to feel at the moment. "Hmm, Daniel decided not to push it. He had obviously touched a sore spot and didn't want to cause any more discomfort.

"Okay, let me get to the real reason I'm here." Both men then quickly switched to business mode. "We need about 30 million for next months operation, but we're shot on investors, those cowardly snakes. We need your help this time."

"That's quite a heafty sum. Send the coordinates for the drop-off point. I'll see what I can arrange." Marcus quickly made a call. Moving this amount of money was always troublesome, especially for such missions.

They exchanged a few more words before Daniel left the company. The moment Daniel left, Marcus was alone in his emotions. He was indeed pitiful. To think that he had continued to harbour all those feelings in his heart only to find out that she had long moved on and started a 'happy life' without him. Could he be more pathetic. "Mom, you really had to do this now of all times." He thought to himself.

...

Elsewhere, Eunice was busy picking her outfit for her interview scheduled for the next day. Damien walked in, completely vexed. "Are you seriously gonna go through with this? That Elanor woman is a certified vixen. Look what she did last time!" He just couldn't understand why Eunice would agree to something so ridiculous.

When he had received the message to inform Eunice about the interview details, he was very well prepared to delete that vile woman. Who knew Eunice would say it was her idea to take part in that interview. "Chill, I have a plan. Besides, this exposure is beneficial, no?" She tried to reason with him. As much as he hated the idea, he had to trust Eunice. She had grown a lot since going to Europe, and he knew her thinking capabilities were extraordinary. She was more than just a pretty face. He sighed and just went along with it.
