Thud! Thud! Thud!
The sounds of beating echoed throughout the night. Under the faint moonlight, Jett relentlessly assaulted Kai with his fists and feet, combining them with his Water Bullet attack.
Kai was in a miserable state, any trace of a captain's dignity was utterly absent.
Logically speaking, Kai's battle experience was unimaginable, but he had stowed it all away, leaving him now as someone with no knowledge of martial arts.
"Haha, brawling with the captain is so much fun." Jett laughed while throwing punches.
He knew Kai wouldn't use any power not belonging to this body, which gave him the confidence to beat him up like this.
Kai spat out blood, his body battered, with numerous broken and fractured bones. Yet, he laughed heartily:
"Hahaha, do you think this little skill can defeat my super regeneration?"
Then he lunged at Jett. Honestly, their fight was purely instinctual, as neither of them had any knowledge of martial arts.
With a clumsy mix of punches, kicks, and Water Control, Jett held a huge advantage. Kai was simply being thrashed, with hardly a chance of victory.
Occasionally, he managed to land a hit or two, but it only inflicted minor injuries on Jett.
"Haha, Captain, you're so weak. But beating you up is a lot of fun, so I'm not stopping." Jett laughed as he spoke.
Since he was young, he had never seriously fought anyone and hadn't found it interesting.
But now, with his fists and feet landing on the captain, he felt immense joy. Perhaps it was because of Kai's captain status.
The two fought back and forth for half an hour before finally stopping. Naturally, Kai had lost miserably.
Of course, he hadn't used his seismic powers, as he had yet to fully control them. If he had used them, both of them might have ended up dead.
Jett stopped simply because he was out of energy, and Kai wasn't in much better shape.
Although he had super regeneration, it only healed his injuries, he still needed to eat to restore his stamina.
Now, lying battered on the deck, Kai chuckled and said:
"Haha, I used to call you useless. Well, now you've hung me up and beat me."
"To be honest, beating the captain is really fun. I'll be doing this a lot more from now on." Jett laughed in response.
Kai didn't feel bothered; instead, he replied:
"Fine, but I believe I'll soon surpass you."
"Haha, keep dreaming. If you're not using your true power and only starting from this body, there's no way you'll beat me along with the system." Jett retorted without hesitation, completely convinced that Kai couldn't match him and the system combined.
"Hahaha, I'm not sure whether I'll use that power or not. If things get exciting, maybe I'll unleash a bit of it to treat this world's strongest." Kai replied.
Hearing that, Jett's mouth twitched, knowing all too well that this "treat" wouldn't be anything pleasant.
"Treat? You mean beat down?"
"What do you know? Ordinary people naturally wouldn't understand. In this world, those who hold great power are nothing like you. They forge ahead without any support, so of course, they're completely different from ordinary folk."
In reality, Jett's power wasn't something he could have obtained on his own.
The most important thing in this world was free will, and below that, the desire for freedom.
Jett, however, possessed neither, simply a regular person who had been given a chance to wield great power.
Hearing this, Jett was at a loss, completely unable to understand the world of those who sought true freedom. The kind of freedom he saw on Earth wasn't on the same level as this.
Jett rested for a bit to let his body recover, then went to sleep. In his current state, he was practically as weak as a chicken. Who knew if falling asleep too exhausted could mean an untimely death?
Kai didn't worry about it as much. With his heavily injured body, he went to find some food, then went straight to sleep.
Super regeneration was entirely unreasonable, as long as his body retained energy, his injuries could heal at an astonishing rate.
This ability was the ultimate beginner's shield, though later on, it would become less useful, as the energy required to recover a stronger body would only increase.
After all, you couldn't just stuff food into your mouth mid-battle. Doing so would leave too many openings, making a quick defeat all too easy.
.....
Next morning, the skies were clear, with no large waves on the sea, making for a refreshingly calm day that eased Jett's mood considerably.
He knew how to steer a ship, but he had zero experience dealing with storms or heavy waves.
With just two inexperienced members on board, their voyage was risky.
While Kai might be indifferent to danger, Jett valued his life. He didn't want an early death. He wanted to live a few more decades, accomplish more things.
"Caption, I think we need to find a navigator as soon as possible."
Hearing this, Kai tilted his head, looking at Jett like he was a fool.
Seeing his captain's expression, Jett immediately understood. He grabbed Kai by the collar and shook him repeatedly, saying:
"Damn it, you might not care, but I do! Without a navigator, our ship will sink sooner or later."
"Alright, alright, what are you afraid of? If the ship sinks, we can just swim to our destination." Kai replied.
Thump!
A punch landed on top of Kai's head, nearly knocking him over. Kai laughed and said:
"Hahaha, why are you so anxious? The system isn't that weak. Whether we have a navigator or not isn't important, what's important is that I have to be interested in that person."
Despite the hit, Kai wasn't about to change his mind. Whether they had a navigator or not, they had a map in hand, and if the ship sank, they'd swim to the destination.
Jett, feeling helpless, cursed silently:
"Damn it, this stupid captain. How can you go out to sea without a navigator? Does he think the sea in this world is normal? Even if it were, the ocean shouldn't be taken lightly. Damn it… though, he's right about one thing—the system isn't weak."
"System, mark today."
[Ding! Congratulations, you've gained +3 Strength.]
Jett's strength suddenly surged, quadrupling, making him feel as if he could soar to the sky.
The sensation was incredibly satisfying, especially because he could grow stronger without any effort.
