After re-evaluating her thoughts, Luna felt that everything could finally make sense.
In this world, no demigod had ever started out as a slave, but a demigod might suddenly find it amusing to become one.
After all, a free spirit has no fear. To a demigod, everything in this world is simply a source of entertainment.
Kai noticed her expression and felt she was letting her imagination run wild, so he said:
"Before, I truly wasn't human."
He enjoyed putting it that way, leaving the interpretation up to her.
Luna nodded in response and said:
"Well, that would explain a lot. By the way, your pirate crew is impressive—one demigod and someone who knows how to use Water Control."
"Hahaha, of course, we're impressive! How could I choose weak companions?" Kai laughed heartily.
Suddenly, remembering Kai's rapid healing, she asked,
"Do you have a curse? Such a high recovery speed must be one of the six oldest curses, right?"
Curiosity rising, Kai asked:
"I'm not sure, but it calls itself 'Quake'. Can you tell me what the other five curses are?"
Luna was momentarily surprised. While she'd suspected he possessed one of the strongest curses, she hadn't expected it to be the one with the greatest destructive power.
"Wow, I didn't expect it to be Quake. Let me tell you what they are. These six curses are the oldest ones, the first to appear across the oceans, each holding immense power. Anyone chosen by them is certainly a demigod. They are: Fire, Wind, Earth, Lightning, Quake, and Ice."
Kai nodded, already knowing that Quake was fun, because if it weren't, he wouldn't have agreed.
He didn't realize it had such an extensive history, but he wasn't particularly interested. As long as it was fun, he was all in.
Noticing her sword, he asked:
"And what about that sword of yours? It doesn't seem like an ordinary weapon."
Luna glanced down at her side, took up her sword, and introduced it:
"It's called Excalibur, a soul weapon with an ancient history."
Again filled with curiosity, Kai asked, his eyes gleaming:
"What's a soul weapon?"
Getting used to Kai's cluelessness was just part of the routine now.
Nothing he asked surprised her anymore, no matter how basic.
"A soul weapon is a special type of weapon crafted from soul metal. Soul metal is a unique metal closely tied to the ocean. It embodies the combined power of the metal and the sea.
"Of course, creating anything with it requires a highly skilled blacksmith. Otherwise, it's impossible to alter the raw material. A soul weapon is created this way, but after its master dies, it takes a part of their soul's power and returns to the ocean, waiting for a new master."
Hearing this, Kai was astonished but picked up on a few key points. He asked:
"So, Excalibur chose you, then? What are its benefits and drawbacks?"
"A soul weapon, like a curse, provides its wielder with a weapon that's enhanced in power, sharpness, and indestructibility against attacks below the divine level.
However, it has a limitation: the user can't employ Water Control. But this isn't usually an issue since those chosen by a soul weapon tend to be weapon specialists and don't need other combat methods."
After listening for a while, Kai summed up the main points:
1. A soul weapon can't be damaged and enhances damage.
2. A soul weapon actively chooses a suitable master.
3. A soul weapon has limitations similar to a curse.
"Wow, I didn't realize these weapons were so powerful." Kai remarked, genuinely impressed.
He wasn't particularly concerned about pros and cons, he was just intrigued.
Suddenly, an idea struck him, and he asked:
"If I used Excalibur, would it boost my power?"
Smack!
Luna landed a punch on his head, then laughed and said:
"Haha, smart one! Don't be too clever like that next time. If the soul weapon doesn't recognize you, how could it boost anything?"
"Hahaha, I was just throwing the question out there, no need to hit me." Kai replied, rubbing his head.
"Oh, right! Now that you've agreed to join us, let's set sail!" he said eagerly.
With a crew now, there was no reason to stay in this village any longer. He wanted to set off for adventure, adventure, and more adventure.
Seeing Kai's starry-eyed excitement, Luna grinned and tapped him on the head with her sword's hilt. She said:
"Train with me here for two weeks, then we'll go. You two are way too weak right now."
Kai nodded, agreeing he was indeed weak, and two weeks didn't seem that long.
But he suddenly felt something was off and frowned as he asked:
"Wait a minute, are we really going to become strong in just two weeks? Doesn't sound too convincing."
Luna tilted her head, debating whether to call him smart or slow. She replied:
"You know yourself well, huh? Two weeks won't make us top-tier warriors. But it'll be enough for us to swim comfortably and catch fish out at sea without drowning."
When she mentioned "catching fish", she meant diving into the deep ocean and chasing them, not fishing with a rod or using a net.
Kai nodded seriously. Two weeks would make him a good deal stronger.
He might not become a master, but it'd be enough to have some fun.
"Alright, let's start training then. Ah, we can practice here while we wait for that guy to wake up."
Suddenly, something crossed her mind, and Luna nudged Kai with a smirk:
"That teammate of yours… he was risking his life for you earlier. I'm so touched I could cry."
She managed to squeeze out a single tear, though her expression showed not the slightest hint of sentiment.
Kai didn't take it to heart, only laughing as he replied:
"Hahaha, he does whatever he wants. He can leave or stay if he likes. In the end, there's nothing a person…no, a demigod would care that much about."
Luna nodded. Demigods were extraordinarily free-spirited.
For them, emotions and feelings were just elements to add a bit of fun to life.
Never bring up affection or gratitude with a demigod, they simply don't care.
If they feel like it, they might help you. If not, they might just as easily kill you. In short, they don't operate by common logic.
