Kai was just about to stand up and train when he suddenly noticed a problem—his body wasn't following his commands.
"Ah, am I out of energy already?" he muttered.
Hearing this, Luna looked over at him and said:
"If you can't walk, then let me carry you to get some food. Seeing how poor you all look, I'll cover the cost."
Kai tilted his head and looked at her with a puzzled expression.
"We're pirates, aren't we? Do we need to pay?"
It was a perfectly logical question. Just a moment ago, Luna had been a noble, but now she was a pirate.
The change in her status had happened so quickly that she hadn't had time to adjust.
Clapping her hand, she looked like she had just been jolted awake:
"Ah, that's right. I'm a pirate now, so why would I pay?"
Looking over at Jett, who was lying motionless on the ground, she asked:
"What's his name?"
"Jett."
"And how long will he stay unconscious?"
She was starting to feel like it was a bit of a waste of time. If he didn't wake up soon, she'd just drag him along.
Kai was deep in thought, considering:
"Jett doesn't recover as quickly as I do, and we can't afford to waste time on him. There's no other choice but to take a shortcut... No, why call it a shortcut? This is the system's doing, not mine."
With that, he looked over at Jett, and the system cooperated. A flow of energy, just enough for basic activities, surged into Jett's body.
"Huh, am I… am I still alive?" Jett mumbled, sounding like he could hardly believe it.
But it wasn't just him who was surprised—Luna's eyes widened in astonishment. She exclaimed:
"What just happened? By all accounts, he shouldn't have been able to wake up for a few more hours."
Seeing her glance at him, Kai merely smiled and said:
"Who knows? The world is vast. There could be things beyond your understanding. Just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist."
Luna nodded, and a small grin played on her lips as she looked off into the distance, as if anticipating the exciting journey ahead. She thought to herself:
"It looks like I need to set out to sea soon. I can't stay in this small place any longer. The ocean awaits… I hope you won't disappoint me."
After thinking it over, Luna sat down and said:
"I'll carry you. Don't tell me you're too weak to even let me do that."
Kai gathered every ounce of strength he had, his trembling hands wrapping around her neck as he tried hard to keep himself steady, though his body was still slightly shaking.
"Hehehe, a captain this weak, huh? You're the weakest captain I've ever heard of." Luna teased, laughing.
Suddenly, she found the idea of a frail captain rather amusing. She'd already made up her mind to overpower him and teach him a lesson.
Poor Kai—he was probably the first captain in this world to get beaten up by his own crew and still somehow remain in charge.
Meanwhile, Jett, still a bit dazed, stood up and saw the unbelievable scene before him.
The woman he adored was happily laughing with another man.
Sure, he and Luna didn't actually have anything going on, but that didn't stop him from liking her.
From the moment he laid eyes on her, he'd considered her his. He'd probably even picked out names for their future kids in his head.
But too bad for him—demigods couldn't have children. They'd surpassed human limitations, making it impossible for them to have offspring.
Watching Luna carry Kai only made his blood boil even more. He shouted inwardly:
"Why? I clearly have a system. Why doesn't the one I love love me back? And worse, she's carrying that unreliable captain? Is being clueless actually an advantage?"
All kinds of random thoughts swirled through his head—things neither Luna nor Kai would ever care about.
He marched up to them and demanded:
"Why? How did your relationship progress so quickly?"
Seeing him bursting with jealousy, Kai and Luna both looked at him like he was an idiot. Kai asked:
"Did you go crazy after passing out?"
Luna nodded in agreement. The person who had just risked his life to protect his comrades didn't seem to be the same person standing before her now.
Seeing them standing close together, with Kai's arms casually around her, only fueled Jett's fury.
In truth, Kai was just out of energy, and his hands were hanging freely. But to Jett, it looked like Kai's hands were inappropriately placed.
"You… you… damn it, you bastard captain! You're the one who's crazy, your whole family's crazy!" Jett roared.
The more Jett overreacted, the more Luna and Kai became convinced he must have been hit so hard that he'd gone a bit crazy.
Watching their increasingly bewildered looks, Jett slumped to the ground in despair, unable to shed tears but thinking to himself:
"Why? Why? I'm a man with a system, so why am I so unlucky? How did that worthless captain, Kai, end up with all the luck?"
In truth, saying Jett was knocked into foolishness wouldn't be entirely wrong.
Somehow, he'd managed to forget the fear that had gripped him just moments ago.
Perhaps he'd been so terrified of Luna that his brain had automatically erased the traumatic memory, which would explain his behavior now.
Feeling unwilling to back down, he turned to Luna and said:
"There's no need for you, miss, to carry this foolish captain of mine. Let me take on this burden instead—I can't allow him to sully your hands."
Kai was stunned, thinking he must have misheard. Sure, it wasn't unusual to get insulted as a captain, but the way Jett spoke to Luna was like his brain had completely short-circuited.
Luna's eye twitched, it wasn't the first time someone had spoken to her this way, but the contrast with Jett's previous noble and courageous display left her a bit shocked.
Just moments ago, he had shown loyalty and bravery, full of potential. Now, he seemed like a groveling fool.
"Hmph, if I don't mind, why should you? Is there a problem with me carrying my captain?" she challenged.
"Captain? Well then, there's no problem at all." Jett replied with a nod, fully accepting whatever Luna said as truth.
Wait a second—something about that didn't sit right.
Jett's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked over at Kai and stammered:
"Is… is she really one of our crew?"
"Of course! She agreed just moments ago. Didn't I look impressive protecting my position as captain in front of her?" Kai nodded.
Luna chuckled:
"Hahaha, feel like protecting it again?"
"Hmph, who's afraid of who? Go ahead and attack me! If you kill me, you can be captain."
"Good, good. But I have no intention of killing you just yet. If I'm going to do it, I'll wait until you've reached your peak."
