Chereads / Pirate: Free Will / Chapter 13 - Luna Silvermoon

Chapter 13 - Luna Silvermoon

Seeing that Kai had lost consciousness, the young woman ceased her attack.

The only reason Kai was still alive was because she had held back.

With her power, she could have easily split him in two with a single strike.

However, it wasn't as though she had decided not to kill him entirely.

A normal person would surely have died from that blow. She was merely testing her luck to see if Kai was different from others.

"Haiz." Jett let out a deep breath and opened the cap of his water flask.

Looking toward her, he said:

"Even though I can't beat you, and even though you've make me fall in love, that still doesn't give you a reason to kill my captain. I know today is likely our end, but if that's the case, I'll risk it all."

His gaze turned deadly serious. Ordinarily, he wouldn't have been able to bring himself to harm her, but this was no ordinary moment.

"Water Bullet – Gatling Gun!"

"Take my full-force attack!" he shouted.

From the large flask, water continuously transformed into small droplets—over a hundred of them.

Under his command, the droplets shot toward her like a barrage of bullets.

For a moment, she stood stunned, thinking to herself:

"Interesting, this two-member pirate crew isn't half bad."

Raising her sword, she looked at Jett and said:

"Let's see what you've got!"

"Aaaaa!" Jett yelled, sending the water bullets flying continuously toward her.

Clang! Clang! Clang…

The young woman skillfully deflected the water droplets with her sword at incredible speed, though she couldn't block them all due to their sheer volume.

The water bullets striking her body only made her tremble slightly and drenched her clothes, causing no significant harm.

It was visibly clear that the water in the flask was depleting rapidly.

In just over ten seconds, the flask had emptied completely. Jett's heart grew disheartened, and his vision began to blur from sheer exhaustion.

"Is it… over already? My second life only lasted two days…" His final thought flashed through his mind before he, too, collapsed.

This was his first time using Water Bullet with full power, and it was on an entirely different level compared to his fight with Kai.

Seeing him unconscious, the young woman sheathed her sword, glanced at the two of them, and thought:

"Pirates, huh? Not too bad, and this crew has potential."

Then, she sat down, waiting for the two of them to wake up. She had already made her decision—whether they liked it or not, they'd have to accept her as a teammate.

And if anyone opposed, a good fight would settle things. She wasn't exactly known for her gentle nature.

About half an hour later, Kai slowly opened his eyes. His recovery rate was much higher than Jett's, assuming the system wasn't playing unfair.

"I'm… not dead yet?" he muttered.

"Of course not. And I have to say, you recover pretty fast." she replied.

Hearing her voice, Kai immediately realized the likelihood of her joining their pirate crew was high.

What remained unclear was whether she'd agree to be a crew member or kick him aside to take over as captain.

"I'm Kai, and since you're still here, that means you agree, right?"

She nodded and responded:

"Yes, I'm Luna. Luna Silvermoon. I didn't expect to meet another demigod here."

Something about that word puzzled Kai. He furrowed his brows and asked:

"Demigod? What's that supposed to mean?"

Luna raised an eyebrow at him, looking somewhat baffled. She asked:

"This isn't exactly a secret—it's common knowledge. What's your deal? How are you so clueless?"

"Me? A few days ago, I was a slave on the brink of death."

Kai's reply was straightforward, he saw no reason to hide it. He wasn't lying—just days before, he had indeed been a slave.

But before that, he'd been omniscient and all-knowing.

Hearing this, Luna grew even more astonished and thought to herself:

"What in the world? A slave achieving enlightenment in freedom? This is the first I've ever heard of such a thing. This world truly is extraordinary, I should explore it a bit more."

"So, tell me, just how did you reach this realization? A slave attaining the ultimate enlightenment of freedom to become a demigod—that's truly something."

Kai didn't answer right away but instead said:

"Did you mix up the order? I asked you first. How can I answer when I don't even know what a demigod is?"

Kai was in a state of serious knowledge deficiency. He knew almost nothing about the powers of this world.

Luna slapped her forehead and replied:

"Ah, I forgot you dumb… I mean, uneducated. A demigod is someone who has achieved true enlightenment and gained absolute freedom. The most noticeable sign is the spiritual or soul-based attack you used earlier."

"Demigods are that weak?" Kai asked bluntly.

He wasn't foolish, he knew he was extremely weak. Right now, he could only match up with an average adult, far from her level.

"There are both strong and weak demigods, but they're called demigods because their maximum power potential is much higher than ordinary people's. I'm not particularly strong myself, I only became a demigod recently." Luna explained.

Since they were bound to be teammates, she couldn't let him remain completely clueless, it would be troublesome.

"Maximum power potential? I see. So, are you agreeing to join my pirate crew?"

"Yes, but I'll be the captain." Luna said.

Kai immediately decided to resist. He didn't care much about who was captain, but right now, he was in the mood for it.

Maybe someday he'd lose interest in being captain. After all, those who act freely don't follow any rules.

"No, I'm not letting you be the captain."

"Fine, it doesn't matter. What's important is that you two have great potential, and that's enough. But you still haven't told me—how did you attain enlightenment while being a slave? You should know that you're the first case of this in the past three thousand years." Luna asked.

She found it quite puzzling. Typically, in this world, no one enslaved would have a true desire for freedom.

It wasn't unreasonable. The free-spirited fear nothing, if they didn't want to be a slave but lacked the power to resist, they could either end their life, use soul attacks, or simply refuse to work even under beatings.

In most cases, this would get them expelled. Torturing a free person only makes them stronger, as their recovery ability enhances after enlightenment, breaking the chains of their bodies.

Wait a minute, she had just thought of something. If she reversed the sequence, everything made perfect sense!
