Chapter 7 - Cult in another World

Unknown Person's PoV

They say Kaijus are the bringers of destruction with their origins clouded in mystery.

However, I see them as the bringers of salvation.

I was but a humble assistant to a world renowned scientist whom I was the best of frienss with. We both were obsessed with the Kaiju threat. Their origins, their biology, and why they do the things they do were all we could think of.

It was an addiction. It was our life, and we decided to spend it by researching and studying the Kaiju.

My friend had a saying-

"If God created Man in his image, then who created Them."

However one day, our world was caught in an all out invasion by the Kaiju. Cities fell. Countries fell. The lab where we both worked, was attacked.

It all happened in an instant when a blinding white light appeared in the sky and destroyed our lab. Everything was in ruins and when I came to be, the first thing i saw was my best friend being devoured by a Kaiju.

The crunching and cracks of his bones echoed in my ears. And then it was my turn. The Kaiju approached me, but only stood still. It stared into my eyes as if staring deep beneath my soul.

It was then a revelation arose in my mind.

As the Kaiju stared deeper into my soul, a voice reached out to me.

"You wonder if the Kaiju are the end of the world. No. WE are the beginning of new worlds. We bring not destruction, but salvation to all. You say you seek knowledge of US. I shall grant you that knowledge. Your salvation will be your knowledge."

They were the answer.

They were our future.

I've spent countless hours, days, weeks, and years studying them.

To be gifted their knowledge...

It was a temptation that I fell victim to. And I don't regret it.

It was then the answer to the saying appeared.

"If God created Man in his image, the who created Them?"

An image of Her flashed in my head.

She was the one.

She was the first.

And She is their progenitor.

And I shall carry out her will for the sake of knowledge.

I shall lead this world to the future, and save it and it's people!

For Her.

Asol Ansaldo's PoV

It's been a couple months since I began training against the Kaiju holograms, and I hafta say...

Its been treacherous with just one arm man...

But, I quickly adapted.

Things have been quite calm these days. Of course that's not including the many Kaiju attacks that followed during the weeks, but things have been going not in the way I expected.

Now I'm currently sparring with the girls, and they weren't lying when they said they were strong.

Oh and when I mean by sparring with the girls, it's usually Toma who spars with me.

Let me rephrase that. It's only been Toma whose been training me. The others have been occupied by their idol activities.

But I hafta admit.

POOM!

"Ugh..."

THUD!

Fist fighting Toma is a death sentence.

I thought as I fell to the cement ground.

With that small petite body of hers, it's hard to land any hits. Of course having a single arm didn't help. But, witnessing her fighting style opened up a pathway for how I want to fight.

During our many training sessions, she's bragged about being a top fighter in Japan. She mixes martial arts with a fighting style called Boxing.

Her speed and power behind her attacks, paired with her fighting style, makes her a prominent individual in battle.

"Man! Asol! You gotta do better than that! You need a hand?"

Need a hand huh...

I can see her chuckling to herself as she came over and pulled me up standing. In that small body of hers is the strength of gods.

We had been sparring with each other eversince I started training. I haven't had the chance to spar with Fujiwara nor Hikari.

"Ah, don't worry bout it Asol. They'll come along!"

Toma slapped me on the back with assurance.

Geez. It's like all of them can read my mind or something.

"I think they're just afraid of killin ya on accident! They're pretty strong!"

"Well, the CEO did say for you girls to not hold back when it came to training me."

"Eh. I don't see a problem with that!"

We were sparring in the abnormally large underground space located underneath the KAC headquarters here in Japan.

It was then a small scale earthquake appeared out of nowhere.

RUUUUUMBLE!

Considering that the both of us were underground, it was slightly concerning.

"Man, another earthquake huh? Are these usually common in this area, Toma?"

"Nah! We've rarely had them the past ten years!"

"I see..."

(1 hour later)

Relaxing on a comfy couch in my apartment will not get old.

Sigh...

I wonder what Mom and Belle would think if they saw me in this state?

I haven't forgotten about them. I still think about what would've happened if I had known of my abilities.

Even if I did, I doubt it would've been enough to save them.

Though. I wonder if it was me who should've died instead of them.

Sigh. Ah well. I can't dwell too much on what could have happened.

Time to watch some TV!

CLICK!

*"My brothers and sisters around the world! Rejoice! As the Kaijus are our saviours! With them, we can change this world and lead our people to salvation! We are the Saviours-"*

Is this like some cult? Kaijus as our saviours? Is this guy for real?

The man speaking had his face covered by a blue robe. It was covered with an intricate design that seemed to reflect the Kaijus themselves.

"What the f-"

DING DONG!

Eh?

"Someone's at the door?"

It couldn't have been any of the girls since they should be streaming right now. The CEO is busy with ceo work.

I walked myself over to my front door and peered through the cover hole thingy. Manhole? I don't know...

It was a person in a blue robe. It looked similar to the one I saw on Tv, however it lacked the intricate designs and details.

I opened the door slightly and answered.

"Uh hello?"

"Good afternoon sir!"

They spoke in a English accent. Though, they sounded quite young.

"I'm Patrick. I come from a group called, The Saviours. Would you like to help support our saviours, the Kaijus?"

"Kaijus? Uh..."

It seems this is a recruitment. And the fact that I was just watching some guy on TV preach for the Kaijus doesn't make this any better.

And after what happened to my world?

I felt like gut punching this guy, so in order not to get myself restraining order (if I can get one here)...

"I'm not interested."

SLAM!

Yea...

I was not going to let that happen.

Kaijus? As our saviors?

I'd rather kill myself than preach them.

RING RING RING RING RING!

Hm? Whose number is this?

"Uh hello?"

*Good afternoon Asol. The CEO wishes to meet with you right now.*

A woman's voice.

Though they sound familiar...

"Ah! You're the-"

Click!

"Secretary..."

Hm. I just came back from headquarters. I wonder what the CEO needs from me?

...

...

...

"My brothers and sisters around the world! Rejoice! As the Kaijus are our saviours! With them, we can change this world and lead our people to the future!"

Click!

The CEO and I were in his office, watching the same exact broadcast that I saw just a bit ago.

"They are called, The Saviours. They are group of individuals that are obsessed with Kaijus and want to bring us all to "salvation." Salvation as in destruction. Destruction as in the end of our world."

To be obsessed with Kaijus to the point where you preach them. Scoff. Disgusting.

"Their existence wasn't known to us until just a few years ago. They made their first debut by destroying one of our cities."

"I'm sorry what?"

"You heard me right. They destroyed an entire city just to make their presence known."

"That..."

That's just wrong. So wrong. Just thinking about the many lives that were lost, brought me back to what happened to my world.

The CEO could guess what I was thinking.

"I know Asol. By the way."

"Yes?"

"Remember when I told you that you may be fighting others like you or Fujiwara?"

"I remember. However I don't think you expanded on it."

"Right. As you know, us individuals who can use and harness our Aura are one of the most powerful beings in the world. However there are two types of people. Those who want to do good and those who want to do bad. Both are opposite sides of the spectrum."

"Would we be the good guys?"

"I wouldn't call us the good guys. We are just individuals who do good in order to survive really."

Silence filled the room for a moment until another question rose in my mind.

"I'm guessing if The Saviours are still active till this day, it's because they consist powerful members?"

"Correct. In fact, there are three individuals that have caused problems for our members. One can open spatial rifts that connect two locations together no matter how far of the distance the two are. Another is able to fully manipulate the elements of nature itself by manipulating the Aura all around us. They can also produce these elements from Aura by itself. Then there's the third one. Their leader. It's that robed guy you saw in the broadcast."

I had a feeling that was the case.

"He can utilize gravitons as a means to attack and even traverse our world. His attacks are catastrophic. The second he lays his eyes on you, he'd send you down to the core of the Earth. Believe me. It's happened."

The power that these people have is unbelievable. How can we even beat them?

The CEO chuckled to himself.

"Lighten up Asol! Anyways there was also another matter I wanted to discuss with you."

Another thing to discuss?

"Which is?"

"I know that you being thrown the mantle of being a manager was not what you expected when working in the KAC."

"It's fine! I quite like the job. But why are you telling me this?"

The grin on the CEO's face disappeared.

"Because over the years, our talents have been targeted by The Saviours in assassinations."

"What? That-"

"Doesn't make sense? If you put some thought into it, our talents are our strongest KAC members. Getting rid of them is imperitive for their goal."

"To save all humanity and other races?"

"To summon the Kaiju threat. In fact, the Kaiju that appeared on the day you turned up was because it was summoned by them. The Saviours."

"Summoned? The one I killed that day was summoned?"

Summoned? You can do that? How?

This question razed my mind.

"Yes. Why do you think it happened to appear in the same area as you and Fujiwara?"

That means that the Kaiju that appeared that day, was meant to kill Fujiwara. If it weren't for me, she would've been...

"I can see your face. You're wondering how they could be summoned?"

"Yea. How?"

"They use catalysts for these Kaijus in the form of sacrifices. The one that appeared that day, was a human catalyst for a Kaiju."

No wonder it looked human...

"So Asol."

The CEO's facial expression turned darker.

"I want you to protect Fujiwara. Stay by her side."

"Fujiwara? What about the other girls?"

"They can handle themselves. But I have a slight worry for Fujiwara. So please. Protect her."

The CEO gave me a place here on Earth. I can't turn him down.

"I will."

"And speaking of Fujiwara..."

"Hm?"

"She wanted me to tell you to meet her at the burger joint."

"Burger joint?"
