Chapter 9 - Kaiju in another world

Asol Ansaldo's PoV

If there's one thing that won't get boring for me, it would be eating a hamburger with Fujiwara.

After my conversation with the CEO, I was to have lunch with Fujiwara.

I didn't plan it today, but I was heavily encouraged by the CEO.

But, I knew why.

Every moment Fujiwara or the other girls are out, they would unknowingly be in danger due to the presence of The Saviours.

Anyone could be one of them. A random passerbyer and even a child could be one, which prompted me to conduct research on the cult.

However it seemed I didn't need to. What the CEO told me was spot on.

"Asol?"

Though, being told that they destroyed a city brought back some bad memories.

"Asol."

Combine it with the fact that there are powerful members and can summon Kaijus makes the group makes them even more dangerous.

"Asol!"

"Eh!?"

Ah. I forgot.

I was eating lunch with Fujiwara at her favorite burger joint.

I guess I was too deep into my inner monologuing.

"Are you okay, Asol?"

"Yea! I'm fine. I was just deep in thought."

"I see. How's training with Toma faring you?"

Training with Toma...

Yea...

It's a nightmare...

"It's not bad. Sometimes I wish she'd go easy on me."

"Ah. You haven't seen the worst of it. Heh heh."

She said while grinning lightly.

Her soft-spoken voice really reminds me of Belle. Not to mention the similarities the two have.

Man. Am in like an alternate reality or somethin.

Fujiwara's eyes focused on my missing limb and slightly frowned.

"I see you still haven't gotten a prosthetic arm."

Ah. That...

"For some reason I just can't. Not yet at least."

"It would make your training sessions easier. Especially since you're training with Toma."

"..."

My eyes stared with no life towards the half eaten burger in front of me.

My lost arm wasn't just a limb. It was a reminder of everything I lost.

Eventhough I've already come to term- Wait. Did I even come to terms with what happened to me?

Fujiwara then stood up from her chair and lightly smiled.

"Asol. Wanna go for a walk?"

A walk huh?

To be honest, I haven't really ventured the city as much.

"Sure!"

...

...

...

Ah...

The concrete sidewalk, the cherry blossom trees, the bustling city.

"It's amazing. This city. The people. The food. I really missed all of this."

I've been training, strengthening, and conditioning my body to fight the Kaiju Threat for all the time I've been here.

I love this place.

"I know right? Sigh. It's been a while for me too. I haven't been able to go out as much. Especially since The Saviours have started making their move."

The Saviours...

Right...

"So you're aware of them too?"

"Always have been. The things they do to accomplish their goals. It's horrible."

"The CEO says some of the Kaijus are summoned through some ritual, I dunno, weird stuff. But that makes them all the more dangerous."

"Summoned? What're you talking about?"

"Huh? You didn't know? I thought you knew?"

"Ah. Well I mean. I kinda did. Anyways lets continue."

Weird. Does she not know of that?

We continued to stroll down several streets until we came to a stop due to barricades blocking the path.

"Barricades?"

I turned to Fujiwara who had a melancholic look on her face. She seemed to be in deep thought. Though, what're the blockades blocking us from?

"Are you alright Fujiwara?"

"Eh? Uh. Yes. I'm alright."

"So what are the barricades blocking us from?"

I could see the hesitation on her eyes. Her mouth quivered slightly until she finally responded.

"This place used to be called Shibuya before a threat entered our world and annihilated the entire city."

"Oh..."

"A lot of people died, including my previous manager. He was my best friend."

"Was it a Kaiju attack?"

"No. It was something else. Something unordinary. Something different."

A destroyed city...

It has to have been the Saviours. Although, it doesn't seem that Fujiwara knows. Is she being kept in the dark? If so, why?

"It came from a rift that opened in the sky. It was... Catastrophic."

She seemed to not want to talk about it anymore.

Her gaze lingered on the barricades, a shadow falling over her features. Her shoulders tensed, and I could see her swallow hard, like she was trying to push down a memory she wasn't ready to share.

Aside from her telling me of her loss, it seemed there was more.

"Descend. We call to you. Rid this world of the ones who stand in our way."

What the-

It sounded like multiple people whispering in my ears.

I observed our surroundings and saw two figures on top of a building a distance away, seemingly observing us and then disappeared.

Wierd. They seemed to be wearing a blue cloth-like robe. Almost like the guy I saw on the TV.

I then turned to Fujiwara who didn't seem to hear those whispers. These were the same whispers I heard back then on that day. Was this the way that they summoned the Kaijus?

"Did you hear a whispering voice Fujiwara?"

"Hm? What whispers?"

She didn't seem to hear them...

"Ah, it must've been my head or something. I didn't get much sleep last night, so it might be because of-"

Kill them...

What?

Crumble!

The earth beneath us crumbled as cracks began to reveal themselves.

Fujiwara made eye contact with me for a split second until-

BOOM!

The earth beneath us exploded with a Kaiju rising from it.

In an instant, Fujiwara had grabbed hold of me and brought us on top of a nearby building.

ROAAAAAR!

"Whoah!"

"Whew. Are you okay Asol?"

"Yea. I'm okay. Thanks for the save!"

Smoke and dust had filled the surrounding area, even reaching as high as we were on the building.

This has to be The Saviours! It's gotta be them! I turned to Fujiwara.

"What about you? You alright Fujiwara?"

"I'm fine."

Fujiwara had already transformed into her Pandoras Dress, with her Durandal in hand.

I still haven't figured out what I could do with my Aura. All I can do is just punch and kick really hard.

I could hear the screaming of men, women, and children who were caught in the disaster.

THOOM! THOOM!

A dark looming shadow rose from the dust.

It was a Kaiju. A-

"Very big one..."

The building we were standing on was around forty meters tall.

The Kaiju's quadrupedal body that stood before us was at least twice as tall.

Horns protruded from both sides of its head like a bull. Its body was bulky, completely made up of muscle in which allowed its arms to hold up its body.

And not to mention it's extradimensional armor that covered its body.

It was truly massive.

The entire street was destroyed. There was no way that the area we were in, was going to survive the battle that was going to take place.

ROAAAAAR!

Its roars sent shockwaves, damaging all building around us and almost sending the both of us flying.

"Fujiwara! We gotta get this thing away from the people!"

I could see Fujiwara think to herself until-

"I've got just the thing!"

"What!?"

Fujiwara lifted her blade upside down and plunged it into the ground beneath us.

SHING!

A bright, golden light enveloped us and the Kaiju, blinding me. When I opened my eyes, we were in a completely different place.

All around me were ruins made of gold, with a golden castle that stood in the distance. There were floating ruins and warped landscape that surrounded me.

The ground was all dirt and the sky was just a purple color.

There were what looked to be birds in the sky as well as golden raindrops, however they seemed frozen in time.

All I could hear is just...

Silence.

This was not Japan, much less Earth or rather the same reality we were in.

However Fujiwara was never to be seen.

"Fujiwara!"

"I'm over here!"

I turned towards the direction of her voice, and spotted her in front of the castle that I saw.

I was all of a sudden shifted towards her.

"Woah! What is this place? What'd you do?"

"I used my Aura to bring us here. I call this place the-"

[Land of the Golden Lord]

"It's amazing. Did you make all of this?"

"Thank you. And yes. I made this place for whenever Kaijus as big as the one we encountered appears, I bring them and I here to minimize the damage to our reality."

"That's a handy ability. I saw some birds in the sky. They seemed to be flying, but it looked like they were frozen in place."

"Right. The laws that dictate the Land of The Golden Lord is purely based off my imagination. Things like Time doesn't exist here, because I simply thought it when I created this vast space some time ago."

She's powerful. She made this world just to contain Kaijus.

This is what I could potentially do maybe now or even in the future.

Pfft. That's if I could even figure out what I can even do with my Aura.

ROAAAAAR!

Oh. Right. The Kaiju.

We both turned towards the direction from whence the roar originated.

The Kaiju's hulking body tore through the floating ruins, sending chunks of golden debris scattering across the landscape, yet frozen. Its roar reverberated through the air, shaking the ground with such force that Asol had to steady himself

Third PoV

As the two watched and observed the Kaiju making headway to their location, they prepped themselves.

Asol, though inexperienced in fighting Kaijus, was ready for the impending battle to take place. His time during training would pay off, especially since he trained with Toma for months.

And even though he had one arm, he was ready. Or so he told himself.

Fujiwara, already in her Pandora's Dress, had summoned her Durandal and positioned herself with a stance with the intent to release a Divine Solidus.

It was an attack that could cut through the fabric of reality, and it was crucial for the attack to connect if the two were to harm the Kaiju through its extradimensional armor.

ROAAAAAR!

Fujiwara turned to Asol.

"This is your first time officially fighting a Kaiju. Don't die."

"I don't plan to."

For them.

Fujiwara launched herself into the sky carrying her Durandal in hand, with the force of her departure leaving a dust cloud in a suspended whirlwind, while Asol sprinted towards the Kaiju with uncertainty in his mind.

Fujiwara streaked through the sky with her Durandal humming with power and enveloped by her Aura and swung, sending a wave of energy towards the Kaiju.

[Divine Solidus]

SHING!

The golden wave sliced through the Kaiju's armored forelimbs, causing it to release a screeching sound like grinding metal reverberating through the air. The Kaiju stumbled, its massive form swaying as a sort of blue substance bled out from the wound. It let out a shriek as its body convulsed, struggling to stay upright.

Asol, remembered a conversation with Fujiwara just before they took off to take on the Kaiju.

"Now Asol. The forelimbs are where we are going to hit it. If we can hit them, then the Kaiju will fall and then we can kill it. If we fail to do so, then... Well... I guess we will cross that bridge if we get there."

"Sounds good. But wait... How am I supposed to get pass it's armor?"

"Think back to the day you saved me and that group of people. Think about how you were able to kill that Kaiju."

"Right. I was able to-"

Asol while dashing across the earth, closed his eyes and concentrated and channeled his Aura to his fist. He thought back to the day he saved Fujiwara and that group of people.

He opened his eyes full of determination and mistakenly launched himself towards the Kaiju's face. But with fear and courage his eyes, he gathered his Aura into his fist and landed a massive punch on the Kaiju's face

But all was in vain.

Slight fear and confusion appeared on his face as the Kaiju seemed to be unaffected by his attack.

He yelled with courage as he pulled back his fist to launch another attack, however he was met with a harsh reality.

The massive Kaiju quickly recovered swiped its forearms at him, sending him at extreme speeds towards the castle, tumbling cross the dirt with his body aching from the sheer force of the blow.

"Asol!"

Fujiwara yelled frantically. Asol being hurdled across the vast landscape reminded her of what happened during the Shibuya Incident.

However she was in the middle of battle. A massive Kaiju stood in front of her. She couldn't go tend to him, however hurt he was.

And so closed her eyes. The roars of the Kaiju became muffled as her Aura gathered into her sword.

Just like that day with Asol, she lifted her sword pointing it towards the sky.

[Divine Solidus]

She swung her sword, releasing a massive wave of energy that was bigger than any she had previously released. It encompassed the massive Kaiju, slicing it through the center.

For a moment, all was silent as the dust was suspended in the air. The Kaiju slowly dissipated into nothingness as Fujiwara tended to Asol.

...

...

...

Asol's PoV

Everything was dark...

"Asol!"

Urgh...

"Asol?"

A voice...

Its Fujiwara's...

"Asol! Are you okay!"

I opened my eyes to see Fujiwara on top of me.

"Ugh... Yea.. I'm okay..."

My body says otherwise.

I was in Fujiwara's arms, with her facial expression seemingly being frantic.

"Asol! I thought you were dead!"

"Sorry. I think I seem to have a hard time dyin."

She then hugged me.

And then a thought just passed my mind.

"Wait! The Kaiju!"

I got up from her arms and looked around to see it's massive body slowly dissipating into nothingness.

"I killed it Asol. Don't worry."

"Ah..."

I stumbled onto the ground, passing out due to the exhaustion and pain my body was in.

At least I managed to land an attack onto the Kaiju, however I was too weak. I couldn't hurt it.

"Urgh..."

As I attempt to stand up, I pass out from the pure pain and exhaustion my body was in.

"Asol!"

Unknown Person's PoV

I foresaw this happening. Today just wasn't the day. Nor was it the one. The Kaiju we set onto the two who stand in our way, fell.

I wanted to test the boy, yet he couldn't kill the Kaiju. It was too good to be true.

Although...

It did confirm one thing.

He is an aberration. A singularity that shouldn't have been here in the first place.

He may not have shown his full capabilities, but he will be our biggest threat.

Asol Ansaldo, The One Armed Wonder. A survivor from Dystopia.

You are an interesting person.
