Asol Ansaldo's Dream
"Asol!"
I could hear my name called, echoing.
"It's time to eat your world favorite pancakes!"
It was Mom calling out to me as I was sitting in a tree right outside our apartment.
Was I dreaming? Or was this Heaven?
I observed my surroundings just find myself in our home.
I remember this day.
Mom was making pancakes for breakfast and Dad was out working at the KAC.
I was eight years old at the time. I barely made friends, but I had Mom and Dad.
Why?
Why was I being shown this memory?
Is this what they called having your life flash before your eyes?
I sat down at the table and laid my eyes upon the pancake in front of me as it completely covered the entire plate.
"Wah! It's so big! Thank you Mommy!"
A large smile appeared on my face.
Mom smiled back at me.
I turned to the pancake in front of me, however I didn't start digging in.
Mom made a confused face of curiosity.
"What's the matter Asol? Are you not hungry?"
I turned my head to her.
"How come Mommy is not eating?"
"What? Oh..."
She made a nervous smile and spoke softly.
"Well, Mommy isn't hungry right now."
Ah. Thats right. We had run out of ingredients to make pancakes. There was only enough for one person.
Heh, I don't think I even knew at the time.
"Then we can share!"
"Heh?"
"Yea! We can share!"
I pushed the plate as far as I could towards her on the table.
She smiled and we both ate the perfectly, fluffy breakfast.
"Delicious!"
We both said at the same time.
...
The memory then cut to my freshmen year in highschool.
It was the same year I met Belle for the first time.
It was the second semester, I was walking down a flight of stairs till I heard some commotion.
It was a group of human girls ganging up on a single Demi-Human bunny girl. They were making fun of her ears and her physique.
Bunny Girls in the Demi-Human race had a different physique than others. Due to their nature of being, bunnies, their hips develope more than others do.
It's got to do something with their reproductive organs being biologically different from most individuals.
They were calling her all sorts of names. The most tamest name I've heard was "Hourglass girl." I won't disclose the more untamed names.
She was a beautiful and cute bunny girl. How could the group of girls even think of picking on her?
Discrimination was very much common due to the constant influx of different species coming from many different worlds that were connected by the gate.
I usually avoid these types of cliches. Well, I more so just avoided interacting with others. I was very much a smart student, however being smart didn't mean you had friends.
And then for an unknown reason, I decided to intervene. We both locked eyes for a moment just before I intervened. I myself, can't remember why I did. Perhaps it was her captivating cute face that I laid my eyes upon.
Who knows?
I went over to the bunny girl's side, taking her by the arm, and ignoring the girls as I led her down the stairs towards a hallway.
We both then took a deep breath of relief and I spoke.
"Whew. Never thought I'd do that for someone. Or rather for a Demi-Human?"
The girl gave me weird looks. It looked as if she questioning herself as to why I helped her.
"Is something the matter? Ah shit. There must be something on my face huh?"
I asked the girl. And she suddenly laughed which made me confused.
"There's definitely something on my face."
Then she spoke in a soft voice and smiled.
"No, no, no, no. There's nothing on your face. I'm just confused as to why you saved me?"
"Hm? Well, I'm not sure. Seeing your cute face probably convinced me."
The girl's face became slightly flustered.
"Well, uh... Thank you. Thank you for saving me. My name is Belle. Belle Hopper."
"No need to thank me. Asol. Asol Ansaldo."
I reached out to giver her a handshake, and that was when she said this while cutely smiling-
"Nice to meet you. By the way, you didn't need to go out of your way to save me."
A spark of curiosity lit up in me.
"Why's that?"
"Well, I would've sent them to the infirmary."
"Eh?"
That was when a new friendship blossomed.
And from that day onward, we continued to talk and laugh.
She showed me what it was like to have a friend and interact with others.
It put a smile on my face.
And then, the memory then cut to...
Sigh...
That day...
The end of the world.
My memories cut to this part.
Everything was dark and blurry. I was alone, missing my arm, surrounded by the flames and the devastation around me.
I was exhausted, panting for air until I saw a silhouette of a woman in the flames that surrounded me.
Or at least I think it was a woman.
It then turned it's head to the right, to which I also turned towards the same direction.
Flashing images of people being killed and buildings exploding appeared.
And then, reliving the memory of Mom dying in front of me.
Reliving the memory of Belle disappearing into nothingness as she was engulfed by the white light, while I was sent through the gate.
Then my arm.
Wait.
My arm?
(The Real World)
Asol Ansaldo's POV
I could hear several voices, although they were muffled to where I couldn't tell if they were male or female as I was barely conscious.
It felt as if I was in a car with these people.
"Careful! He's loosing a lot of blood!"
The first voice.
"Geez, how are we going to explain this to the CEO?"
The second.
"I suggest we go to him with the situation."
The third.
"Sigh. Just hurry up! We gotta get em to the-"
They all had a girl's voice. Three of them.
What were these girls going to do with me?
I then mustered up enough energy to open my eyelids slightly and saw the blurred face of a brown haired girl until I went fully unconscious.
She resembled her.
"Belle..."
...
...
...
(An unknown time later)
Chirp Chirp Chirp Chirp Chirp
Birds?
I opened my eyes to see I was laying on an unfamiliar bed, in an unfamiliar room, and looked around to see pictures of women and a man, although it hurt to even turn my head.
I tried to massage my neck with my right arm, however I was missing it. The one arm that I was most dominant in.
However, seeing my missing arm made me remember everything.
Everything I loved and cared for was...
Gone...
Tears flowed from my eyes.
"Oh gosh..."
Images of Mom and Belle flashed in my mind.
"Mom... Belle..."
I cried to myself for some time. Until I calmed down and then attempted to get up from the bed, which was very painful considering my whole body was aching.
My missing arm messed up my center of gravity.
However opened a nearby curtain to see-
"Sunlight..."
It was...
Bright.
There were trees, birds, cars, and people.
It was colorful just like my world. Dystopia.
Tears then started to stream from my eyes until I heard the door to the room opening.
I turned immediately to see a girl with brown hair in a school attire holding a tray with a towel and water, although I didn't recognize the school attire as one I was familiar seeing.
I was definitely in another world.
However, this girl looked familiar just from the hair alone.
She was the one I saw in the car, holding me just before I passed out.
One feature I didn't see was her gold gradient eyes and her long hair that reached down to her waist.
Her eyes were...
Captivating.
The girl seemed frozen in place, analyzing and figuring me out. Probably thinking if I was a good or a bad guy. Although I don't think she thought that I'd wake up considering the state I was in.
We locked eyes for a moment until she broke the silence that filled the room.
"You're... Awake. I didn't think you'd recover that fast, I-"
"Where am I?"
"Um , pardon?"
"Where am I?"
The girl thought for a moment and responded-
"You are on Earth, currently in one of its many countries we call Japan."
She was well-spoken and seemed to be well mannered for such a girl her age.
But I recognized her voice to be the first I heard in the car.
I then responded to her.
"I see... I come from-"
"Another world named Dystopia. We've heard of the fate that your home world fell to."
"..."
So she knows. What else does she know?
"I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself. My name is Fujiwara Kane. What's yours?"
"Asol. Asol Ansaldo."
Silence then filled the room for a moment until the girl asked-
"Did you lose anyone?"
The memories of Mom and Belle dying briefly flashed in my mind.
I stayed silent for a moment, and stared at the ground and spoke in a soft darker tone.
"I lost... Everything."
"I'm sorry..."
Two other voices could then be heard, echoing through the doorway and overlapping with each other.
Two more girls walked through the doorway, surprised to see me awake. But not more surprised to see that the brown haired girl was already speaking with me. They wore the same school attire as her.
They both had distinct hair color.
One of the two had red hair and dark green eyes. She had a petite physique, though she seemed to be the type to be offended quite easily. She spoke out first.
"Hey! Fujiwara! I thought you'd let us know when the boy would wake up!"
"Sorry Toma, he just woke up haha."
The two seemed to be friends since they hugged each other.
The red haired girl's name was Toma it seems.
Just Toma?
I think I heard her voice in the car. She was the second voice.
The other girl had long silver hair and wore glasses that encompassed her silver colored eyes. She looked to stand around 5'11, which was around my height. Though she has a rather slender body.
She then greeted me in a proper manner.
"Greetings visitor. My name is Higanbana Hikari."
She then respectfully bowed her head.
These three girls with three different personalities...
What happened to me?
...
...
...
Some time later we were sitting down at a table. Though, I had a hard time walking to the table due to my missing arm.
With the missing weight on the right side of my body, my center of gravity that enabled me the ability to stand straight was completely messed up. It would take me some time to adapt to this predicament.
The girls filled me in on what they knew.
My world was destroyed, alerting all other KAC branches across our plane of existence of the situation.
Now that another world had fallen, every other world was on the lookout for refugees. Though I think I'm the only survivor.
After the girls found me, they took me to their best healer. They healed every single cut and bruise that they could find, however they could not heal my arm back.
Or let me rephrase.
They could not restore my missing right arm.
According to Toma:
"Yea! It was weird! Usually we're able to restore limbs by reverting the body to a time just before it lost that limb. The missing limb usually still exists and even if it was reduced to nonexistence, we'd still be able to restore it."
Fujiwara then cut in-
"And despite our efforts, we still weren't able to restore your missing arm. We're sorry..."
Then the three girls explained where I was.
Apparently the building that we're in belongs to this world's KAC branch, The Earth Branch. Or rather, this was the main building of the Earth Branch.
The girls were members of the Earth Branch...
As streamers...
Or to be specific...
"Idol streamers?"
In this world, the KAC branch that is meant to fend off the Kaiju threat, is an idol company?
"Yep!"
The girls said proudly in sync.
"Huh?"
I was in a confused daze...
Fujiwara then snapped me back to reality.
"You heard it right. Our KAC branch is an idol company. We stream and have concerts for the people to raise money for our projects involving the Kaiju threat."
Toma then spoke.
"Oh yea! We are also very, very, very-"
Hikari then interrupted.
"Very much capable of annihilating any Kaiju threat that threatens our world. And there are more of us spread throughout the world."
Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring! Ring!
One of the girls was receiving a call. Thankfully phones exist here.
Fujiwara got up and stepped out to take the call.
Meanwhile the other two entertained me, with Toma taking the charge.
"So... Uh..."
Right...
I never told them my name did I?
"Asol. My name is Asol Ansaldo. I already introduced myself to Fujiwara."
"Right! Asol! What was it like on your world before it, you know?"
"Ah. Uh. Well, it was quite colorful and happy. Although you may have heard that Dystopia is quite sciency. Like imagine having to learn Quantum Mechanics in high school?"
"Sheesh! We had to learn it in middle school! Even though I failed miserably at the entire subject."
She failed the subject?
Hikari then chimed in.
"That's because she's all brawn with no brains."
A nerve ticked in Toma's head.
"Sheesh. You didn't hafta do that to me?"
"I'm stronger than you. What're you going to do about it?"
This atmosphere that the two give off is relaxing. I've never talked much with others, but these two plus Fujiwara seem fun.
Hikari then asked another question.
"So, do you know about the Manifold of Worlds?"
"The Manifold of Worlds? Uh. Yea. Its the folding of more than an infinite number of planes of existences that we live in, and it will continuously fold more and more infinitely just to keep folding more. And our plane of existence is the lowest level of the manifold."
"Good. I just wanted to test your knowledge. It seems you've been taught well."
That was a random question. Although I am glad I studied that in my freshman year of highschool.
Fujiwara then interrupted the conversation with a soft smile.
"I'm sorry everyone, but the CEO wants to meet Asol. Heh, heh..."
Silence filled the room for a moment until the Toma-
"HUH!?"
...
...
...
(69 minutes later)
It took quite a bit to get me through the hallway to the elevator and up some flights stairs.
It was a painful walk...
For the girls at least since they had to basically carry me.
On the way to wherever the girls were taking me, Toma filled me in on who the CEO was.
According to her, he seems to be quite the strong person. Not physically but also psychologically.
And he happens to be blind.
The employees in the building stared at us, giving weird looks as we traversed the hallways and the elevators.
It was very embarrassing to say the least...
At least for the girls...
And now I was sitting in across the table of the man in charge of KAC's Earth Branch in his office.
Their CEO.
He was a middle aged man that looked to be in their mid to late thirties. He had short hair and and was wearing a business man suit.
Though he wore shades to cover his eyes.
And if you were here sitting in the same exact spot as I was, he was a very intimidating man to look at. I could feel he was a very powerful man.
Silence filled the room as he seemed to be analyzing and giving me weird looks for whatever reason until I broke.
"My name is-"
"Asol. I know. One of my talents informed me."
Talents? Ah. He must be referring to the girls.
"Ah! That must've been Fujiwara."
"Correct. And now you are face to face with her boss."
I gulped nervously.
"My deepest condolences, Asol. I've heard of the tragedy that your world fell to. Those damn Kaijus..."
"Yea..."
"Now, you're here on Earth with nowhere to go back, to with nowhere to call home."
Why am I getting the sudden feeling that the CEO is going to offer me something.
"So... After hearing your story from Fujiwara, I've decided to give you a couple choices."
Yep. I knew it.
"One. To be transported to a world of your choosing to live the rest of your boring and tragic life out? Or Two. Stay here, work for me, and fight the Kaijus with us. It's basically a job offer."
"Wait what?"
"I'll give you twenty-four hours to decide. During that time, you can reside here in the building or go out and explore. Also, you can sleep in the room you woke up in. I'll have the girls escort you out."
The door opened with Fujiwara, Toma, and Hikari stepping in and smiling at me.
The CEO spoke again.
"So, Asol? What're you waiting for?"
