Everything was dark and blurry and loud. I was hurt all over. What had happened? Explosions lit up all around us.
Us?
I looked around and saw blurred faces of people frantically running away from something.
And then everything went dark.
I opened my eyes to a blurry person crying and shedding tears over me. They were carrying me.
There were flames all around us.
Where was Mom?
Everything hurt.
I couldn't feel my right arm, and then everything lit up.
Asol Ansaldo's POV
Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep
Sigh. The sound of the alarm clock never fails to wake me up. Well, that is it's purpose after all.
But I'm glad it did. Whatever that dream was, it's now over. Or was a dream? It was like the end of the world or something. So I guess you can call it a nightmare.
I went back to sleep the second I shut the darn thing off. I shouldn't have stayed up late last night writing that book. Perhaps that was why I had that nightmare.
It was then my mother was pounding on the door to my room in the attempts to wake me up.
Dun
Dun
Dun
Dun
Dun
"Asol Ansaldo! If you do not wake up right now! I will barge into your room and drag you into depths of Hell making you wish you never existed!"
Yea. I can't ignore the nightmare that is my Mom.
I got up to put on a change of clothes and exited my room to see a hot breakfast had been made by my mother.
She was a middle age woman in her late thirties. She had me when she was eighteen, straight outta highschool.
"Asol. I know you stayed up late last night. You know better. Especially on a school day. The first day of your sophomore highschool year!"
"Yea. Yea. I know. I was just-"
"Working on that story? What was it called? The End of a Story?"
"Yea..."
"Aright... Just don't overdo it okay? You don't want to stay up all night. It really messes up your brain."
"Ha! As if I would!"
I said smiling and laughing.
We both finished our delicious breakfast. Mom makes the best pancakes in the world. You can debate me on that.
She left to go work at her numerous jobs, leaving me with the dishes.
I soon leave for school.
On the streets that I walk on, their is quite the few sights to take in. The tall buildings that loom over me are homes to many others that come from different worlds.
Seeing a bunny girl (as I would call them) on the streets would be quite the normal sight. Heck. Even one of my friends is one. Or well, my only friend is one...
Those who are similar to the bunny girl are called Demi-Humans. Humans that have the attributes of animals. Of course they are generally more superior in several fields of work. Well, they were far more physically superior.
Then we have princes and princesses from other worlds attending and working schools or businesses.
They're plenty of other races that inhabit this world all thanks to the Multi-Versal Gate that connect our infinite realities to allow interdimensional travel.
Of course you have to have a Universal Pass in order to travel to these other worlds.
I'm quite jealous of those who have one...
How these gates came to be is a mystery. Even to my world.
It happens to be more of a scientific world. Everything that is built and made is by the use and help of Science. The food we eat, the cars we drive, and even the toilets we flush our fecal matter down. Everything is made from science.
This is Dystopia.
...
...
...
I now stand at the front gate of my highschool. It's my sophomore year, so what's the worst that could happen?
(Later that day)
"Open up your textbooks to page-"
Ah yes...
Quantum Entanglement. When two particles are connected and dependant on each other's properties no matter how far they are. Even if they are an infinite distance away, they'd still be connected.
Sigh. Physics Class is the bane of my existence.
"You betcha."
I thought I heard a girl's voice comment on my inner thoughts. In fact, it was quite a familiar voice.
I turned to see a brown haired bunny girl in her school uniform, who was not that much shorter than I.
"Ah. Belle."
"Hey there Asol."
Belle Hopper. A Demi-Human bunny girl who happens to be one of my closest friends. She is also quite cute.
We both met each other during our freshmen year. She was being picked on until I happened to pass by and saved her.
I'm quite the hero.
"Yea. You're right. It's the bane of my existence. You know, it'd be pretty funny if we were both caught in a quantum entanglement. So that way, we'd still be connected no matter how far we are from each other."
"Eh?"
A slight blush appeared on Belle's cheeks. She was staring blankly.
It was slightly concerning.
"You alright?"
"Heh? Ah yes. Ahem."
Ah, I must've broken her brain something...
"Anyways Asol. Ahem. Are you still thinking of joining the KAC?"
"Yea, but..."
I let out a deep sigh.
"I don't know how to convince my Mom. She's very protective of me. She fears that I-"
A loud siren then played on the speakers.
Belle then sighed.
"Well, it seems another appeared. I'll talk to you later, Asol. Kay?"
I nodded.
She disappeared just as she appeared.
An earthquake could be felt throughout the building. The city was under attack by a giant monster called a Kaiju.
Monsters of sheer, immense size and power. Some are human sized in some attacks.
These Kaijus appear out of nowhere. They come from a higher plane of existence, somewhere far beyond and unreachable to our Manifold of Worlds.
But what our world has figured out, is that they want to collapse it. Our world is the center of the universe. For it to be destroyed, would be the destruction of our reality.
These attacks happen all over the world. And our reality is not the only to experience these attacks. It is an occurrence that happens to all worlds.
Our teachers have us evacuate the classrooms and into special bunkers that are strong enough to stop nukes, capable of leveling entire cities.
Many of these bunkers have been spread throughout the city in the event that a Kaiju has appeared.
I of course didn't evacuate like the rest.
Reason?
I wanted to see my Bunny Girl Friend in action.
Belle is a part of a multiversal corps called The Kaiju Annihilation Corps. Or the KAC for short.
Every world has their own KAC branch, and Belle happens to be a part of it because she is the daughter of the Branch Leader here on our world.
Now don't ask me why she couldn't defend herself when she was getting picked on, she doesn't like the attention...
My Dad was a member of the KAC until he was killed in action by the largest Kaiju to have ever appeared on our world, protecting civilians who didn't make it to the bunkers.
The Kaiju disappeared right after killing my Dad and hasn't appeared since then.
The Kaiju attacking our city in question is about 3 stories tall, so it's not the one back then. Although this one looks like your average megatherapod that you'd see in the history books.
...
Third Person POV
As Belle dashes through the city, she finally finds herself facing off against the Kaiju that threatens the city.
She had been fighting these Kaijus for the past two years. A secret kept by her, her father, and the KAC Branch.
She had faced many Kaijus just like the one that stood before her. It had the body of a megatherapod, but also was equipped with extradimensional armor that covered its body.
This armor was present on all Kaiju's and was impervious to all forms of attack.
That was until those who awakened powers beyond human comprehension appeared. Those just like Belle.
Here, they were called Manifestors. Those who could harness the energy in themselves to fight the Kaijus.
Belle dashed towards the Kaiju at lightning speed with the intent to land a powerful kick on the lower jaw.
POOM!
The area around them shook and trembled from the sheer power of her kick as shockwaves were sent from the impacts between the two.
The Kaiju easily shook off the attack and retaliated by swinging its armored tail, equipped with stalagmites, towards the girl sending her flying through several buildings.
ROAAAAAAAAR!
The Kaiju then positioned itself as if it were charging up an attack from its mouth and was aiming towards the direction Belle was sent.
Inside the building with blood dripping down the side of her head, Belle was resting on the wall facing the threat in front of her, charging up an attack.
She smiled as she lifted her arm with her fingers spread, aimed towards the Kaiju.
A dark red energy formed around her arm and gathered in the palm of her hand.
[GENKI!]
PSHYOOOOOM!
The red energy was fired towards the Kaiju, blowing it's head off causing a large explosion. The Kaiju's body fell onto to the earth beneath them dissolving into nothingness.
She had defeated it.
Belle rose from a hole in the side of the building with a breath of relief.
"Whew. Just another Tuesday..."
...
Asol Ansaldo's POV
(Later that night)
I was in the living room watching the news.
Belle did amazing against that Kaiju. It was a sight to watch. I really want to be a part of the KAC.
*The shopping district has experienced destruction. Thanks to the KAC, we-*
"No you will not join the KAC, Young Mister."
Ah...
I forgot...
Mom...
She had turned off the news the second the aftermath was shown.
"Aw c'mon Mom! You know how much it means for me to want to join the KAC!"
"You know the dangers, Asol. What will I do if you get killed by those monsters?"
"I won't, because I have a feeling that I will-"
"Unlock you special powers just to die like your Dad?"
I stared at the floor with silence fuming with anger, avoiding eye contact with her.
"Sigh. I'm sorry Asol. It's been really hard for the both of us. I have to work several jobs just to keep this apartment. And you just need to focus on your studies."
"..."
"I know your friend, Belle, was the one who took down that Kaiju. But just because she can, doesn't mean that you are able to."
"What do you know, Mom?"
"I- uh."
I let out a deep sigh and left the apartment in an angry daze, angrily shutting the door.
"Asol!"
...
(2 hours later)
I was sitting alone on the roof of a seven story building thinking to myself.
"Did I really just do that to Mom? Did I really walk out on her?"
Sigh.
"Asol! Asol! Asol!"
I could hear her calling out my name as she was searching for me.
Is the KAC really the place I want to go to?
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!
A siren? It's the one they use for a Kaiju attack.
The building started to shake. It was another earthquake, a much more powerful one than earlier.
A helicopter was flying over the city broadcasting a message:
*EVERYONE PLEASE EVACUATE TO THE NEAREST BUNKERS UNTIL THE KAIJU THREAT HAS-*
PSHYOOOOM!
A laser pierced the helicopter, destroying the broadcast.
I looked towards the city and I could not believe what I was seeing.
One, two, three, four...
Ten Kaijus as tall as seven-story buildings appeared. Flames erupted in every direction I turned
"It's just like the dream. Flames everywhere."
The roars of the Kaijus snapped me back to reality.
"Asol? Is that you?"
I turned to see a frantic Belle on the rooftop with me.
"Belle?"
"Asol! What are you doing here? You have to get to a bunker! It's dangerous here!"
"I- yea. Yea..."
A bright, blinding light suddenly appeared in the night sky above us. It was as if the night sky opened a hole as big as an entire city block
It was then we both saw what looked like a foot coming out of the light.
It was another Kaiju. And the light in the night sky, was a rift that allowed Kaijus to pass through to our world.
This Kaiju that was coming out was the largest that appeared.
It was twice the size of the other Kaijus. It was a quadruped that had characteristics of reptilians of all sorts, equipped with its extradimensional armor.
ROAAAAAAAAAR!
"Asol! I gotta get you somewhere safe!"
I was in a daze. I thought back to what Mom said.
"Just because Belle is able to beat these monsters, doesn't mean you can."
Belle grabbed me by the waist and carried me off far away from the Kaiju.
I then noticed Mom was on the ground frantically looking for me.
I was then dropped off on a building not far away from her.
"Asol! There's a nearby bunker not far away from this building. Get to it alright?"
I nodded.
"Alright."
Belle approached the edge of the building and then looked back to nod at me.
"Stay safe Asol."
"You too Belle."
The Demi-Human girl smiled and hopped off towards the Kaiju threats.
The roars of the Kaijus echoed through the city.
I made it to the ground and started to immediately find the place where I saw my Mom. It was still a few blocks away, but the flames around me made it difficult to cross streets.
I ran down the flaming streets calling out to my Mom.
"MOM!"
My yells, echoed through the burning city.
It was a not long after that I heard my name called out.
"Asol!"
It was her.
"Mom!"
We both embraced each other, apologizing.
"I'm sorry walking out Mom..."
"I'm sorry for saying what I said ealier. I shouldn't have-"
ROAAAAAAAAR!
CRASHSHHHH!
A smaller Kaiju around the height of a three story building crashed through a building with it hulking body, lunging towards us opening its mouth.
...
It felt as if time had slowed down.
She shoved me out of the way in order to save me. She, on the other hand had been grabbed by the Kaiju's mouth and eaten.
I had tried to pull her with me as she shoved.
But...
It was instant.
The crunching of her body in the Kaiju's mouth...
It was...
Deafening.
Although, something didn't feel right. I looked down towards the right side of my body and found that I was missing my entire right arm and bleeding profusely.
I erupted in pain and tears and fell back onto the ground behind me, using my other hand to block as much blood from bleeding out.
The Kaiju that had killed Mom turned towards me, stalking slowly like a tiger ready to pounce.
[GENKI!]
A dark red light appeared from the right and pierced a hole in the armor of the Kaiju, harming it.
SCREEEEEEEECH!
It cried out in pain just as I was.
I then heard my name being called out from a familiar voice.
"Asol!"
"Belle..."
I said tiredly.
The pain from the blood loss I was suffering from was keeping me awake.
Everything slowly became blurry. And then I closed my eyes.
"Oh my gosh! What happened? I told you to-"
...
It was dark and blurry and loud. I was hurt all over. What had happened?
There were explosions happening all around me.
I opened my eyes and I could see Belle.
She was...
Carrying me?
Tears exited her eyes and dropped onto my cheeks.
I looked around and saw blurred images of people frantically running away from something.
Ah, the Kaijus...
There were flames all around us.
Where was Mom?
I spoke weakly.
"Mom? Wheres-"
"Asol? I- I'm sorry..."
She was panting as if she was exhausted from carrying me.
Everything hurt.
I couldn't feel my right arm.
"I cauterized your wound, stopping the bleed. However, I- I couldn't save her..."
That's right...
It's gone...
Just like her...
BOOOOOOM!
Another earthquake appeared, although it felt different.
Another bright light then appeared in the sky.
More Kaijus were crossing over.
"Asol! I hafta get you through the Multi-Versal Gates! The Kaijus are going to drill into the core of our planet and destroy it, and when that happens-"
"Our reality will collapse..."
I said weakly.
At the center of each universe, is a planet. When that planet dies, the universe collapses.
Many worlds fell due to the Kaijus destroying them.
And what happens to the gate that connects it to every other world?
It becomes a dead gate in a dead universe.
"It's the end of the world Asol..."
"No..."
As Belle carries me towards the gate, streams of tears fall from her eyes.
"Asol..."
"Yea..."
"I just want to say that I-"
BOOOOOOM!
A shockwave was sent from behind us, knocking Belle onto the ground, dropping me.
THUD!
"ASOL! ARE YOU OKAY!"
"Urgh..."
I was too weak to speak, however my moaning gave her a breath of relief.
Belle turned the other way to see what caused the shockwave, and then her eyes widened.
The Kaijus were gathering at a spot and using a breath attack, drilling into the earth beneath them to the core.
Blood streamed from the side of her head, however she had one goal in her mind.
She picked me up and continued towards the gate.
We weren't far from it, however a question rose from my mind.
Could we make it?
...
Thanks to Belle's speed, we made it to the gate. However, we weren't the only ones to think of this.
There was a large crowd trying to enter the gate. However there was a downside.
Those who didn't have a Universal Pass could be sent to an entirely different universe from the one they want to go to.
However in this situation, did it really matter?
Another earthquake appeared, this time larger and destructive. The earth beneath us was crumbling and shaking.
And eventually large cracks in the earth started opening where the crowd was. The crowd was large, extending half a kilometer.
The gate was decently large, with both it's length and width being around two stories.
Belle looked down at me.
I could see the hesitation in her eyes.
"Asol. In order for you to get to safety, there's one thing I have to do."
I responded weakly.
"What?"
As more cracks in the earth opened up, a bright blinding light appeared shooting up into the skies, interrupting us.
Belle then continued.
"The Kaijus have reached the core. Everything will cease to exist in this world."
The bright light then started to spread, encompassing and dissolving everything it came into contact with.
She smiled at me with tears.
She put herself in a position as if she was going to throw me.
"I'm sorry."
Once I figured out what she was going to do, I mustered all the energy I could into the next sentence I would say.
A dark red energy gathered around us. I lifted my left hand and gently touched it.
It was warm. It was my first time ever interacting with it.
Everytime I had asked Belle to let me touch the energy, she made up excuses telling me it would disintegrate me.
It had the properties of a red dwarf star, yet...
"Warm..."
I said weakly.
"Goodbye Asol..."
[GENKI!]
She used her energy to propel me through the air, with my back turned towards the gate.
I couldn't do anything to stop myself.
I was a distance away from her, however I could see her smiling in tears.
It then looked as if she was saying something.
The white light then engulfed her, erasing her from existence just as it did to everything else before.
I had passed through the gate before the white light could get to me.
And then...
Everything went dark.
...
...
...
As the rain patters on the cement ground in a city, there layed a black haired male in bloody clothes.
He appears to be alive and breathing, however it seems that his wound that was cauterized had began bleeding again and mixing with the rain puddles around him, turning a blood red.
A group of girls came upon his almost lifeless body.
