Chapter 2
Ashwin ordered healthy food for the two children over the phone. Soon, the food arrived, and Ashwin fed them one by one. Ashwika stopped crying and started laughing and teasing her brother. Idhansh just stared at her.
Ashwin thought to himself, "These kids look like me, especially Idhansh; he's my carbon copy. But how is this possible? I won't trust this DNA report; I'll conduct my own test."
Just then, the office door burst open, startling Ashwika, who began crying again. Ashwin quickly picked her up and consoled her.
The man who entered was stunned. "Your daughter?" he asked.
Ashwin glared at him. "Couldn't you enter quietly? You scared my daughter."
The man was Vivan, Ashwin's childhood friend. Vivan was handsome and Ashwin's closest friend, who would do anything for him.
Vivan stared at Ashwika in shock. Then, he heard another voice, "Daddy, lap." Idhansh stood behind Ashwin.
Vivan's eyes widened. "Ashwin, where did these big kids come from? You didn't even know you had them! Your parents will kill you."
Vivan continued, "What's going on, man? Are you okay?"
Ashwin explained everything to Vivan, who laughed. "Haha, you didn't know you had kids! Awesome, man!"
Vivan teased Ashwin, patting his back. "Your kids are lovely."
Ashwin smiled, looking at Ashwika and Idhansh. "Let's go home."
At Oberoi Mansion, Ashwin's parents waited. They were shocked to see Ashwin with two children.
"Who are these kids?" Ashwin's father asked sternly.
Ashwin smiled mischievously. "You think they look like me?"
His mother excitedly took Ashwika and Idhansh from Ashwin. "Oh, they're adorable! This boy looks just like you, Ashwin."
Ashwin's father demanded answers. "Ashwin, who is their mother?"
Ashwin shrugged. "I don't know."
His parents were stunned.
"What do you mean you don't know?" his father pressed.
Ashwin repeated, "I. Don't. Know."
Vivan intervened, "Let's talk later, sir. The kids are tired."
Ashwin's mother agreed, "Yes, let's focus on the children now."
Ashwin handed Ashwika to Vivan. "Take care of her for a minute."
Vivan played with Ashwika while Ashwin carried Idhansh.
Inside the mansion, Ashwin's parents bombarded him with questions.
"Where did you find them?" his mother asked.
"What's their mother's name?" his father demanded.
Ashwin replied, "I'll tell you everything later. First, let me settle them in."
His parents reluctantly agreed.
As Ashwin and Vivan settled the kids, Ashwin's mother couldn't stop smiling.
"These children are God's gift," she said.
Ashwin smiled, watching Ashwika and Idhansh play.
Vivan whispered to Ashwin, "You're a dad now, man."
Ashwin chuckled, feeling a sense of responsibility.
To be continued.
