Chapter 1 - Uninvited

It was raining heavily outside. The mansion was gloomy. Just like what she felt inside. She looked out her bedroom floor-to-ceiling window to see a couple of Range Rovers driving in. The appearance of these cars made her heart churn more in anger.

The lightning kept striking the earth with the heavy rain. The bodyguards helped the guest out of the car, with an umbrella in hand, escorting him inside the mansion.

The guest scanned the living room to see the househelps all lined up to greet him. The others bowed their heads as he passed them.

"Welcome back home." Ginfred, the head butler said as he too bowed.

"Where is she?"

As soon as he asked the question, the butler and the other househelps tensed.

"She's in her room." Ginfred replied, trying to gauge his reaction.

The supposed guest walked up the staircase as if to make his way to her bedroom. But, he turned on his heels and walked to his bedroom.

Early the next morning, Brooklyn was forced to get up quite early to take her bath and get ready for breakfast.

"You know I don't take breakfast." She glared at her personal maiden through the mirror.

Nia, her personal maiden who had been with her for all her life just chuckled as she finished combing Brooklyn's hair.

"You don't have a choice today. You know that." Nia put the hairbrush down, on the dressing table. "Now, come on. He's waiting for you."

Brooklyn rolled her eyes but still got up and made her way down to the huge dining room.

A beautiful melody was being played by the live band performers just a distance from the dining table. Brooklyn rolled her eyes again as she took her seat, which was across hers.

She glared at the man who sat across her. He was lucky that he was a few dining chairs away from her, because she'd not hesitate to throw a plate at him. Just the thought of seeing him in pain made her chuckle.

Felix put his cutlery down, trying to figure out what made her so happy that she actually chuckled in his presence. The Brooklyn he knew always glared at him to show the pure hatred she felt towards him.

Brooklyn felt his piercing stare. So, she looked up from her plate.

"Still thinking about throwing a plate at me?" He smirked at her.

Brooklyn just rolled her eyes at him, bored.

"You gonna continue acting childish?"

That riled her up. She clenched her fork tight.

"And who's fault is that?"

Felix chuckled as he wiped his mouth with a napkin.

"I've given you enough time to act out. It's time you put an end to these childish antics."

Brooklyn hated it the most when he called her a child. She hastily got up from her seat, knocking down her chair.

"At least I'm not one who just does as he's told like a puppet."

Felix clenched his teeth. He also got up from his chair and towered over her. He mumbled something in her ear. Seeing that he riled her up, he smirked.

Splash!

Brooklyn threw her red wine right in his face. She couldn't take it anymore. He always infuriated her beyond words.
