Chapter 28 - The traitor angle

It was night and the sky was dark. Lyotan had gone to a tavern, sitting behind a table and looking out the window. A waiter approached Lyotan and asked, "Would you like something to drink?"

Lyotan replied indifferently, "No, thank you."

A man with purple eyes dressed in black sat opposite Lyotan. Lyotan paid no attention to him.

The man in black frowned and said, "If you don't want to drink wine, why did you come here?"

Lyotan frowned at the man and said, "I don't have to answer your question."

The man in black smirked and said, "Aren't you the disgraced hero? So, where's your friend Kazaris?"

Lyotan looked at the man and said, "Kazaris was never my friend. I should have killed him when I had the chance."

The man in black chuckled under his breath and said, "But your face doesn't say that."

Lyotan, irritated, scowled and said, "I gave Kazaris a chance. I let him live with me for ten years, but as soon as he regained his power, the first thing he wanted to do was kill me."

The man in black looked at Lyotan with a nerve-wracking smile.

Lyotan: "And, of course, that boy Karil. Because of him, my wife was killed, and then just yesterday, he set the city ablaze."

Lyotan's face contorted, and he said, "And I don't care at all that his life is in danger now."

The man in black extended his hand to Lyotan and said, "My name is Delicas. Since you're wanted everywhere and have nowhere to go, you can live with me."

Lyotan frowned and said, "I don't need your pity, and I don't want your help."

Delicas, with terrifying eyes, said, "I don't want to help you. This is a deal."

Lyotan: "What do you want from me?"

Delicas: "You have to bring Kazaris to me alive."

Lyotan crossed his arms and said, "I can't help you. Kazaris is now imprisoned in the realm of the angels."

Delicas was shocked, thinking, "Kazaris, what are you doing with the angels?!"

Lyotan stood up and said, "I don't care what happens to him. After all, Kazaris and I are sworn enemies."

Lyotan left the tavern, and Delicas looked at the door, smirking and thinking, "No matter how much you deny it, you and Kazaris are still connected."

Alorin, cloaked in a hooded cape, silently approached the room where Kazaris was imprisoned and opened the door.

Kazaris looked at Alorin in surprise and said, "What are you doing?"

Alorin put a finger to his lips and said, "Shh, be quiet and do exactly as I say!"

Kazaris: "You're going to help me escape from here?"

Alorin nodded and handed a black cloak to Kazaris.

Kazaris took the cloak and said, "Are you sure you want to help me? You'll get into big trouble."

Alorin smiled and said, "I'm coming with you. I want to escape from this land too."

Kazaris followed Alorin as they made their way to the main gate, running across the grass and under the stars, both cloaked.

Kazaris saw the main gate and said happily, "We're almost there, we're making it!"

Suddenly, several guards appeared in front of Alorin and Kazaris, blocking their path, forcing them to stop.

The leader approached Kazaris and Alorin from behind and said, "Alorin, how can you betray your own kind and help a demon after all these years?"

Alorin stepped in front of Kazaris, looked at the leader, and said, "This isn't fair at all. Kazaris only came here to save his brother."

The leader shouted, "That's enough. Arrest them both!"

Suddenly, Alorin attacked the guards with his sword to clear the way for Kazaris, then threw a bag towards Kazaris and shouted, "Run quickly!"

Kazaris caught the bag and ran towards the main gate. Suddenly, he stopped in the middle of the gate and looked back.

Kazaris looked at Alorin and thought, "I'll help him just to settle the score."

Alorin's arms were being held by the guards, and they were taking him away. Suddenly, Kazaris ran towards Alorin, attacking the guards to save him.

Kazaris angrily said, "Then why don't you fly?!"

Alorin, irritated, replied, "I can't. The angels here lost their ability to fly years ago."

Kazaris grabbed Alorin's hand, and they both ran out of the main gate together.

From a distance, the leader saw everything and smiled, saying, "Interesting, so Alorin decided to team up with a demon."

A guard looked at the leader and asked, "What do you want to do about Alorin now?"

The leader frowned and said, "Forget about him. No one is allowed to talk about this matter."

Kazaris, panting, stopped to catch his breath. Alorin looked at him sorrowfully and said, "Sorry, I can't fly, and I'm just more of a burden to you."

Kazaris looked at Alorin and smiled, "What do you mean? If you hadn't helped me, I could never have tasted freedom again."

Alorin: "But you're a demon; you should be angry with me."

Suddenly, Kazaris hugged Alorin.

Alorin, surprised, said, "Kazaris..."

Kazaris, looking at Alorin with a frown, said, "It's not that I'm being kind to you. I just haven't settled the score with you yet."

Alorin: "Where do you want to go now?"

Kazaris: "To a small town."

Alorin: "I know that, but where exactly?"

Kazaris thought for a moment and said, "I don't know. Where exactly are we now?"

Alorin, frustrated, shouted, "How should I know?! How do you not know where your brother lives?!"

Kazaris laughed and said, "Well, I'm terrible at navigating on the ground."

Alorin sighed and said, "In the realm of the angels, the leader put some kind of spell on everyone so no one can fly and escape. Breaking it is nearly impossible."

Kazaris, surprised, said, "What do you mean?! Are you saying that man has imprisoned all of you?!"

Alorin sighed and said, "I don't know exactly why, but the leader doesn't allow anyone to leave the realm of the angels. It's like a curse for outsiders."

Kazaris thought, "Strange, I didn't see Lyotan there. What happened to Lyotan?"

Kazaris shook his head and thought, "Why am I even thinking about that traitor?!"

Alorin looked at Kazaris with curiosity and said, "Is something wrong? What are you thinking about?"

Kazaris: "Nothing, nothing important."

Kazaris looked at a very tall tree and said, "Maybe if I look around from up there, I can find the way."

Alorin: "How are you going to climb all the way up there?"

Suddenly, sharp claws appeared in Kazaris's hands. Kazaris grabbed the trunk of the tree with his claws and started climbing.

Alorin, surprised, shouted, "What are you doing?!"

Kazaris sat on the highest branch and looked into the distance from the top of the tree.

Kazaris thought, "Damn, I've lost all my magical powers again. I can't sense anyone's mana!"

Will Kazaris succeed in returning to Karil with the flower? This was the greatest challenge of Kazaris's life, and he was the only one who could save Karil.
