Chapter 3 - Chapter 2

Okay, calm down. This isn't like you. He won't recognize you. That's right, you are a completely different person, so act like it.

Rosette didn't know whom to listen to, her heart or her mind cause both of them were complaining about leaving this damn person, this village, and moving on with life. But she couldn't run, she needed the exit and the front door was occupied, which meant it was either this or the top window.

The top window was the only largest window for her, but she couldn't walk over it, not unless she used her magic. At night, she couldn't take the chance. Her magic would only bring disaster, which could cause chaos in the village, but who would cause more chaos than the person lying in front of her doorstep?

After too much thought she bravely opened the door and walked out with her suitcase, leaving the soldier to die. This is the smart move she thought. Her mind keeps telling her to move forward, forget him, and only care for survival, that's what you've been training for your whole life.

But a certain urge told her to stop, turn back and help him, help him live, help him survive, or else he will hunt you down and will show you no mercy.

With a deep breath Rosette turned back, she lifted the fainted body of the general and carefully placed him on the bed. She then took off his body armor and his sword only to reveal his chest with a huge wound of blood dripping to the white bed sheets. He was losing so much blood that the wound needed to be stitched quickly.

Without wasting time, Rosette wore her surgeon attire and started to wipe out the blood and stitche the wound. Stitching of the upper body was finished, now she needed to stitch the upper back, she carefully lifted him with her magic, and started stitching the back. Then she turned him again and stitched his minor injuries such as the cuts on his upper arms, cuts on his lower legs, and a minor cut on his left eyebrow.

Finally, she sealed the wound with bandages and also applied herbal cream for quick healing. She gave him painkillers for comfort sleep and transported him to her bed while she washed the bloody white sheets and hung them for drying. She cleaned up the mess of blood and bandages and lit up some herbal candles for the smell. After all the work she finally took a bath and dried herself with a wind sphere. She applied lotion and massaged her hands since they were swollen. With all the work she has done, she brings her chair close beside the bed where the general is sleeping.

She sits and immediately closes her eyes for the time to pass. With her working all day, she deserves a rest.

The next day, Rosette's eyes opened to find a man, sitting up straight, with long black hair covering his shoulders, and those green Jade eyes looking straight at her. At first, Rosette thought that this man would kill her immediately, but instead, he waited for her to recover from her sleep. She quickly straightened up her back and looked at him with her green eyes. Her expression was beyond imaginable, she wasn't scared, no, she was serious.

"Um", she broke the silence, "How are you feeling?", she asked with a sworn voice.

The general's face had no sign of concern, he showed no pain, no anger, no emotion, instead, he said, "Who are you?".

A question that Rosette knew he would ask at some point. "I'm Rosette Qain, a herbologist who moved to this village. May I ask who are you?". She knew who he was, she just wanted to confirm if it was him.

"My name is Mathias Wager, the general from Dark Jade Knights. I was in charge of eliminating Heartwarth from the map, please tell me if I have succeeded?"

"Yes you have, the tomb of Gracia was destroyed leaving Haleen to be killed, but both your and her army have perished, I'm deeply sorry for your comrades".

She wasn't, she didn't want to have any conversation with him, she just wanted him to leave. But judging by his injuries, it might not be possible. Mathias didn't blink over his army's dead, he didn't want to show any emotions, but deep down Rosette knew he was weeping, weeping for comfort. Too bad he didn't have any.

"General, are you in pain?", Rosette shifted his attention to her, she needed him to heal quickly, so that he could leave. It was the only way for her to survive.

Mathias on the other hand took her consideration as a token of kind heart. He hasn't met anyone who would ask about his health or even take care of him. He could see the dark shadow under Rosette's eyes which showed how she spent the night healing his wounds, stitching him, and giving him painkillers.

"I'm not in pain I'm quite well, my back does hurt a bit but I'm sure it's nothing". He said back to her while observing his bandaged arm. "What's your age Miss Qain?".

Rosette answered, "Seventeen, sir". She knew he wanted information, Personal information. She shouldn't be flustered by any of this. This was common among patients.

"Seventeen!", he said with a surprise, "That's too young, and yet you are a professional".

A common praise heard by Rosette, she wants to tell them that she's been doing it for hundreds of years, but who would believe her?, "Thank you for the compliment".

Rosette didn't let a general interrupt her work. She handed him a description of some medicine and a pair of farm clothes to cover his upper body.

Without wasting time she ran toward her clinic and started treating her first patient, it was none other than Herdrick. Her pulse started rising, she knew if Hedricks was to find out that she was keeping the so-called general in her house, he was to tell the merchants and things might go downhill for her.

"Hello Hendrick, did you accidentally cut yourself again?", Rosette managed to keep her tone as calm as possible. Hendrick wasn't a fool, he was a sly fox.

"You know how my job is, God with all these muscles, I could've been a knight or a general perhaps", he said with a common smile. Does he know? Rosette thought, her hands were focused on the bandages but her mind was focused on what Hendrick knew.
