There were times when fairies were compared due to their race, and it all depended upon the royalty. Waren tried to hold his position as an example for all Jade knights. He wanted to show his power and strength, but if something or someone has lost its ability to please the country, he or she is considered a disgrace.
"Roven!? What the hell are you doing here?" Mathias asked as he lost his grip. Roven, who had been released, reached for his breath.
"What do you expect you dumbshit", finally he got to his feet, "An order by the king, God you make it so hard, and what's with this disguise?", he gestured his hand to point Mathias's changes.
Mathias wanted to ask more and express his gratitude, but he couldn't until he was fixed. "How is the king?"
Roven shot him a quick glance, "The king is devastated, he wants his dog back". Mathias flinched at Rovens words. Not because he called him a 'Dog', but by the news he is worrying his king.
"I didn't bring my party", said Roven, with a deep sigh. He looked reluctant to do so but said it anyway. A small act of sympathy he thought. "I noticed something was wrong. You couldn't defeat Haleen that easily, there would be some permanent damage. If you are here, means you know how to fix it".
Roven's words brought relief to Mathias. He was glad he didn't have to explain himself, especially not the part he was staying with a lady.
"So", Roven turned to him, "Who was that girl next to you?". He asked with curiosity.
"What?", Mathias mumbled.
"You know. The one with brown hair, and hazel eyes. She was with you a few minutes ago", Roven clarified in more detail. His smile was curved with an expression full of sinister.
Sweat started to drip Mathias's forehead, his mind wasn't able to fabricate any lie to hide the truth. He looked Roven in the eyes but it didn't work, he couldn't think.
"She saved my life", finally he said, that a normal village girl saved a fairy.
"She saved you?", Roven asked again, trying to clear what he was listening to.
"Yeah".
"Was fighting Haleen that bad?".
"You have no idea".
The next day, Rosette woke up early. She followed her normal routine, setting up her bed, making breakfast, organizing her herbs and a new addition, and waking up Mathias Wager who was not found in bed.
..._?
Not found in bed, he is not in his room. Panic rises in Rosette, she can think of millions of ways of what might have happened last night, but it didn't make sense, she would have known.
Maybe he woke up early and went out for a morning walk, like hell he would, he is not completely healed. Maybe he just left, yeah that could be it. Thinking Mathias leaving for good made a rush of excitement fill Rosette, but all that flourished disappeared when she saw his body armor.
Shit. He was still here, just not in here. Anger, frustration, and resentment filled the air. With a hot head, Rosette entered the dining room, but what she saw stunned her. An unexpected guest was chewing her last-minute breakfast.
A man with a slandered body, black pixie-styled haircut, beautiful green jade eyes, and pale blue skin. She recognized him like she knew who he was. He looked at her while blinking his eyelashes as if it were a beauty contest.
"You must be Mathias's friend", she asked with a straight face.
"And you must be his secret mistress", he replied back.
Rosette already had enough on her plate, she didn't want anymore. With deep breaths, she cooled her head with pretty thoughts. "Where is General Wager?".
Roven put the spoonful of oatmeal aside, opened his palms, and placed his face in between. "I don't think you're that much worthy to see him", he said.
She did the same palm gesture, "May I remind you, 'I saved his life'". She replied to him back.
"He is back in the shredded greenhouse".
'shredded greenhouse?'. Shit. My herb collection. "What is he_", she quickly ran towards the backyard. She didn't care for Mathias, oh no, she was furious. How dare he have the audacity to trespass on her greenhouse. No matter how high the person is, he or she is not allowed to step into the 'Herbal Greenhouse', especially when it grows high-quality herbs.
The front door of the greenhouse was open. Shit. She knew he was in there, she knew he was touching them, shit, shit, triple shit. As soon as she entered, she saw what she didn't want to see. The man who once introduced himself as the general was now acting like a lazy cat.
Rosette wanted to punch that pretty face of his, but she couldn't. All she saw was a grown man feeling the urge to stand but couldn't. In other words, he was drugged. Beside him, she found coca leaves. The fear of Mathias being drugged means being chopped up by Roven.
Rosette didn't want to die today, especially not at the hands of Waren's knight and shining armor. She promised she wouldn't do this but she had to. First, she hid the coca leaves and relaxed Mathias on a chair. His dark black hair was removed from his mouth and his dazed green eyes were blank with no emotion.
"Mathias, could you hear me? Blink if you do".
He blinked fast, meaning his mind was still intact. Siliva drooled from his mouth only to be wiped out. Rosette quickly closed the door and sat beside Mathias. She took a deep breath and recited an incantation. Her words spread like whispers, her hair glowing shades of pink, and yellow light flashed from her palms when she grabbed Mathias's arm.
That magic did wonders, but to Rosette, it only cost her fear. The incantation was done, Mathias breathing became lighter and his expression began to relax. He was okay, better than okay. And with that, Rosette once again congratulated herself for protecting him, but she knew it was her fault for not getting rid of coca leaves.
She left him to rest, but upon her leaving she found Roven. Back straight, arms crossed, and he had that 'I don't trust you' expression that made Rosette question why the universe hated her. (Sorry Rosy)
