Chapter 2 - Beginning II

After receiving the seal, I waited in silence as the moment neared. When the countdown timer finally hit zero, the ground beneath me suddenly gave way, and I began to fall. A portal opened right below my feet, and the fairy waved me goodbye as I descended into the unknown. As I fell through the sky, I looked down at the vast Continent of Serenia.

It was a breathtaking sight—a beautiful land filled with many kingdoms and home to different races. The most prominent were humans, elves, beast kin, and dwarves, all of which were selectable and playable races in this world. Naturally, I had chosen the human race, which meant I would arrive in one of the human kingdoms.

As I continued to fall, the landscape below began to blur, and before I knew it, I was gently landing in a small village—the starting point for new players. It was known as the Beginner Village.

[You have entered Village B12.]

I nodded as I looked around, taking in the atmosphere of the village. It was an ordinary place, with small houses and simple shops. However, one thing stood out immediately—there were many new players like me, wandering aimlessly, some even causing trouble with the NPCs. The commotion had already drawn the attention of the guards, who rushed in to detain a few overly-excited players.

Seeing this, many realized that this village wasn't a place to fool around. Everything here had a purpose, and even as a beginner, it was clear that rules needed to be respected. The streets were bustling with activity—some new players eager to explore, while the village elder, a familiar NPC, stood nearby, giving quests to those smart enough to approach him.

however, many are complaining too, as they can't change their genders nor their age, But of course the company or should I say whole world don't give a shit about this people.

I shook my head as I looked at my status screen first.

I smiled as I glanced at my stats. I had the maximum stat configuration, and why wouldn't I? Since I knew the system inside out, there was no need to hold back. The VR capsule was equipped with advanced sensors that scanned your entire body, including your brain, and synced with your daily physical and mental statuses. On average, most people have stats around 5. Anything above that is considered excellent, while anything below is considered weak. The maximum for a mortal was capped at 10.

So, I trained my body for this exact day, hence the stat maximization.

"Huh? Why is mine 6, but yours is 7?" one player nearby muttered.

"Me too! I have only 3 in intellect, but my strength is at 8!" another responded, sounding surprised.

As expected, people soon began to notice the stat discrepancies. Players rushed to contact the game manager for answers, their confusion evident. I shook my head with a slight grin as I started to move away. I needed to get my class while everyone started hunting for levels.

For my inventory, I chose a Sword. After all, I had been taking swordsmanship classes in real life, so it was a natural choice. The rest of the beginner equipment vanished as I equipped it. If I wanted to, I could have chosen any other weapon, as my stats were perfect for most classes. But there was no need—I was focused on one particular class, and everything else would come easy.

But first, I needed to get a quest that would give me some money while I worked toward securing my class. I'd need funds to pay for the class, after all.

I made my way to the butcher shop and spotted the NPC butcher inside, busy cutting up pork and rabbit meat, the usual monsters found around the village.

"Hello, can I help?" I asked as I approached.

"You can," he replied, glancing up at me. "I need more monster meat—there's been a sudden influx of orders."

A quest table immediately appeared in front of me.

[Common Quest activated]

[Hunt and deliver dead animals to the butcher]

[Reward: Depends on the amount delivered]

I accepted the quest, and the butcher waved his hand, urging me to get it done as quickly as possible.

I nodded and headed out of the village. As I reached the gates, the guards looked at me with concern. One of them spoke up, "You shouldn't go out there—that area is meant for beginners, but it can be dangerous, if you are careless."

I nodded politely and walked past him. He pointed me toward an area where wild rabbits could often be found, but I had a different destination in mind. A hidden spot, one that was perfect for my needs. Soon, I reached the place, steadied my grip on my sword and steeled my heart, and entered.

When I emerged, I was holding a bundle of dead rabbits.

Yep, you read that right. I had just slaughtered a den of baby rabbits. It's not that I'm heartless, but I'm practical. I had to keep my level at 1, and baby rabbits don't give any experience points—a unique feature of this game.

So, I aimed for them. Not only did they provide meat for the quest, but killing them didn't raise my experience even by a single point. I returned to the butcher with the dead rabbit meat, and he looked at me with a strange expression.

[Affinity with NPC Bran: -10]

[Current Affinity: Neutral]

Well, it's no wonder he looked at me like that. But I was just doing what needed to be done. Sometimes, you have to make tough choices to stay on top.

"Here," the butcher said, handing me a small pouch.

I took the pouch, and a notification appeared.

[Obtained 1 Silver Coin]

I nodded, understanding that the meat I delivered was worth that much.

In this world, the currency was divided into four tiers: Copper, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, with each currency tier having a difference of 100 units.

1 Gold was equal to 100 Silver.

1 Silver was equal to 100 Copper, and so on.

[You are the first player to earn money.]

[You have obtained a title.]

[Rolling in Money: +10% Extra income on every trade.]

Seeing this, I nodded as this title was supposed to be obtained my Max(Og MC) but I got it first now. And then once again I told him I can help as he gave me same quest once again, but this time I hunted baby Boar, as in this game baby monsters don't give any exp.

As I continued to complete this Butcher quest over and over, I gradually accumulated the necessary amount of money.
