The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains as I hurriedly gathered my things, eager to leave the villa before Sam could intercept me. After yesterday's…incident, I needed space to clear my head and refocus on my goals.
Sam's lingering presence in my mind was a distraction I couldn't afford. Thankfully, today marked my first official day managing Mary's Enterprise, the boutique chain that now bore my name. It was a chance to prove myself and escape the tension brewing at home.
I arrived at the company headquarters, a modern glass building nestled in the heart of the city. As I stepped through the revolving doors, I was greeted by the cheerful receptionist, whose smile was warm but professional.
"Good morning, Mrs. Bella," she said, standing to offer a slight bow.
"Good morning," I replied, offering a polite smile in return.
