An Unexpected Invitation
Bella's point
The house was unusually quiet when I got home, with no sign of Sam. After freshening up, I decided to spend some time in the living room, hoping the distraction of a good book or a TV show would help me unwind. But my thoughts kept circling back to him his piercing eyes, his confidence, the way he'd carried himself during the few times we'd interacted lately.
*Why can't I stop thinking about him?*
Minutes turned into nearly an hour before I finally heard the sound of the front door opening. I looked up to see Sam entering, Jacob following close behind him. Jacob headed straight upstairs without sparing me a glance, leaving Sam and me alone in the room.
His presence seemed to fill the space immediately, and I couldn't help but sit up straighter. There was something about him tonight, an intensity that made my heart race even before he spoke.
