The ghost walker
Sam's point of view
Ever since the night with Bella, I couldn't shake the memory of her stunned expression and the silence that followed. She'd been avoiding me, and I couldn't blame her. I had tried to apologize, to bridge the distance, but she had kept herself busy, throwing herself into her new role at Mary's Enterprise.
She hadn't shared much about her work, but I knew she'd made quite an impression from the chatter I'd overheard from the staff. It stung a little to see her thriving without needing any support from me, but I was proud of her.
Yet, her avoidance didn't sit well with me. I wasn't the type to give up easily, but today, I had a more pressing matter to deal with, one that might unravel the mystery surrounding my parents' deaths.
Eliana had called me early this morning, her voice calm but tinged with urgency.
