The meeting
Bella Point of view
The tension in the house had been palpable ever since Sam came back from the hospital. I had expected him to be relieved, maybe even happy, that his grandfather was finally awake, but the look in his eyes told a different story. Something was weighing on him, something far beyond what he was willing to share.
When I greeted him at the door, his response was distant. Not cold, but distracted.
"Sam?" I called softly. "Is everything alright?"
He paused for a moment before walking over to me, his face blank. "The marriage has been approved," he said bluntly, his tone devoid of emotion.
I blinked, unsure of how to respond. My chest tightened with conflicting emotions. Was this why he seemed so detached? The marriage was his idea in the first place, not mine. So why did he seem unhappy about it now?
He added without looking at me, "You'll be visiting my grandfather soon."
