Wounded and bleeding, Kodesh's life flashed in his sparkling and sunny eyes. He had been close to death a few times but it wasn't something you get comfortably used to.
Realizing his grave mistake, he instantly vanished into thin air leaving an afterimage behind. In the next moment, the afterimage was simultaneously struck by a war hammer, a stiletto laced mace and a long needle sword, dissipating it like smoke before a violent wind.
Reappearing behind the concealment of the rocky hills, Kodesh questioned his life choices.
Not long ago he was just a docile kid who loved to hunt wild game. But now he was hunting dangerous humans and hunted by even more dangerous and deadly warriors and warlords.
'You live by the sword, you die by the sword.'
'That's what they say right?'
'Well I am the sword.'
Kodesh thought as he was inbetween realms, teleporting to safety.
He had not used the teleportation ability up to this point because he feared that it was limited in physical form. But now that he had no way to block or parry the relentless and deadly attacks, he had finally used the life saving aspect.
Concealed behind a protruding rock at the top of a hill, Kodesh was wincing in pain. Lowering his gaze to check his wounds, a disgruntled and horrified look manifested in his smooth face as his heart lurched in pain
After all this time, he still was unsettled by seeing his blood.
Luckily, his sturdy breastplate of righteousness had absorbed most of the golden hilted sword attack so the wound was not lacerated. It was shallow but still agonizingly painful.
Summoning the white long bow, the smooth long bone suddenly appeared in his hand. It was still beautiful as ever. The golden inscriptions of Aramaic and ancient Hebrew were even more pronounced this time under the glittering daylight.
To come to think of it, the inscriptions seemed like direct translations of the two languages but Kodesh had not deciphered the inscriptions yet.
Craning over the large rock, he peeped at the blood thirsty and vengeful warriors and he immediately reminisced about the gazelle he had killed a while back.
He had not ruminated it about it since that fateful day because it brought back sad memories of opportunistic foxes but this time he couldn't shake off the thought. The gazelle had an elongated neck that made it easy to crane over obstacles. Not that he wanted that extended neck.
Dismissing those thoughts, he watched them with eagle eyes. The warrior's guard was high as they were nervously scanning the area.
They were in a circle, their gaze covering each and every part of the hills.
The noble knight and armored warriors were on the other side of the circle, hidden from Kodesh's angle. Nevertheless, he wasn't planning to use an arrow on them. He wanted to use an intimate weapon. The white glass maybe.. or his weighty hand perhaps. Any would do. He held some sort of resentment towards them.
Since they couldn't sense him, he was more or less invincible. On top of that, he was on the high ground, an ideal position for a long range assault.
The greatest venerer in all the earth was once again in his element. Hiding cozily in the shadows with a long bow in his hands.
He couldn't help but reminisce about what his brother used to tell him.
"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backwards. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great."
It was rather ironic because he was in dire and difficult circumstances and he also had a bow in his hands.
The majestic bow of the correlation of bright stars was clutched in his hand, ready to send soul devouring arrows at the horde of Oaklanders with devastating accuracy. But he knew he couldn't take out all fifteen of them with the divine bow. Ten was his limit in spiritual form so he would probably take out four at most.
He had long parted with the quiver of mundane earhs before he arrived at Nomia so he had no choice but to pull the heavy and stubborn bow.
'If only I could have imparted from Samson before they caught up to me.' He thought to himself dejectedly.
With that he pulled the majestic bow with all his strength, sharp pangs of pain coursing all around his shallow wound.
His muscles tensed and contracted beyond the resistance of the bow.
In the next second, as the heavy bow stretched, a ghostly arrow appeared out of nothingness and a split second later it was whizzing through the air at harrowing speeds, way swifter than their mind and nerves could process. He drew inspiration and released perfection.
In the next moment, the ghostly arrow struck one of the man in leather armor and plunged into him, immediately sending his weight crashing to the ground.
Before they could react, another ghostly arrow was flying towards their direction. At first glance, it looked like it was a stray arrow but the moment the group dispersed into the hills, one of the men ran straight towards it, instantly skewering his thigh. It didn't even hit a vital part to kill him and that terrified the men even more.
Kodesh had anticipated that they would scatter after the first man fell at the wake of the ghostly so he aimed towards one of the man's escape route and successfully landed a shot.
He didn't have time to celebrate that legendary shot because in the next moment, the man wielding a sharp mace spotted him. His intuition was just as sharp as those stiletto spikes so he knew where to look, and eventually he saw him craning over a rock.
He lunged at Kodesh and the burnished silver armored noble knight followed closely behind like he was his extension. Immediately his aura divided into six indistinct auras and they immediately materialized into his mirror images.
'Oh… so what I felt earlier was a clone?'
'They are some kind of puppets that even I can not distinguish from their master.'
'What a nice ability.'
'On top of that he also has some kind of invisibility aspect.'
'Just before he landed an attack earlier, he vanished but his aura did not so he was just invisible. And at the same time as he disappeared, his clone appeared behind me making it look like he somehow teleported to my rear side just to trick me into letting my guard down for a frontal attack and I fell for the bait.'
'He is cunning and clever, I give him that.'
In the next moment, a heavily spiked mace clobbered where Kodesh had been hiding a split second ago and shards of crushed rocks scattered across the air.
The blue-blooded aristocrat knight was right behind the mace user, waiting for a perfect opportunity to present itself. He was an opportunist warrior who didn't want to risk his life unless he was sure that he would not get killed in the process. He was more like the foxes that had scavenged his kill but more cunning and efficient in his attacks.
His battle style was well rounded, as expected from a highborn like him.
As it seems, he loved life so much that he didn't want to risk losing it. He flourished by hiding behind reckless warriors and delivering swift killing blows from the shadows.
Observing the young knight as he was creating space between him and the mace user, Kodesh noticed a promise ring on the noble knight's hand.
'Oh so he doesn't wanna die before he gets married?'
'I see.'
'Too bad cos he is dying today.'
