Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Ye Feng's heart shattered as if he had confessed his feelings, only to discover his love interest was involved with another. He felt betrayed and fled, his strong exterior crumbling. Resentment brewed within him, directed at Feng Linlin for not being honest about her feelings.

Feng Linlin, unaware of Ye Feng's turmoil, found herself captivated by Chu Ge's gentle demeanor. His attention to detail and caring nature drew her in, like a girl falling in love for the first time. Unbeknownst to her, her actions had inadvertently hurt Ye Feng.

As they spent time together, Chu Ge sensed the tension. He suggested dinner, and they headed out. Feng Linlin, lost in thought, secretly observed Chu Ge, only to be startled when he turned around unexpectedly.

"Is something wrong?" Chu Ge's puzzled expression met Feng Linlin's momentary panic.

"No, I was just checking my phone," she replied, her face flushing slightly.

"Are you hungry? I'm looking for a nice restaurant," Chu Ge said, his gaze softening as he noticed her phone.

"Let's go, there's plenty of delicious food out there," he added, a hint of playfulness in his voice.

Feng Linlin's heart sank at the thought of Chu Ge asking her to go home after dinner. She felt a sense of loss, questioning if he saw her merely as a friend.

Chu Ge, unaware of her inner turmoil, led her to his boss's car. Feng Linlin's curiosity piqued as she noticed the vehicle's interior. "Is this your boss's car?"

"Yes, I'm just a bodyguard. I couldn't afford a car like this," Chu Ge admitted, his focus shifting from the car to his boss. He realized it was past six, and he still had Liu Yanru's car.

"Maybe we should eat another day. When are you free? We can find a better place then," Chu Ge suggested, his eyes lingering on Feng Linlin's elegant attire. She wore a yellow-gray woolen gown, her small hands tucked into the sleeves, her black hair cascading gracefully, and her face exuding delicate beauty. Chu Ge fought the urge to hold her.

Feng Linlin, expecting a dinner date, was taken aback by Chu Ge's sudden change of plans. She tried to hide her disappointment, but her silence spoke volumes.

"I've found a place. Let's set the navigation," she said, her tone a bit strained.

Chu Ge, sensing her probing, assured her, "I'm not worried about misunderstandings. We're both single."

Feng Linlin, still upset, asked, "Are you afraid of your boss's misunderstanding?"

Chu Ge, understanding her jealousy, smiled. "It's not about looks. It's about money. I can't be a bodyguard without it."

As they reached the restaurant, Feng Linlin shared its history. "This hot pot place has been here for ages. The taste is authentic, better than many fancy restaurants."

They found a cozy corner table and waited for their food. Chu Ge's attention was drawn to Feng Linlin, who pointed to the duck meat in the hot pot. "Try this, it's delicious."

Chu Ge savored the duck meat, its tenderness and spice blending harmoniously. "Indeed, it's good."

A familiar voice interrupted their meal. Chu Ge and Feng Linlin turned to see Ye Feng, his eyes burning with jealousy, accompanied by a woman.

"Brother Ye Feng, is this your girlfriend?" Chu Ge asked, recognizing the woman from the video on his phone.

"My girlfriend is beautiful, too," Chu Ge boasted, surprising himself.

"Thank you, your girlfriend is also very pretty," the woman, Zhang Jiajia, replied, her eyes lingering on Chu Ge.

Chu Ge clarified, "We're not in that kind of relationship yet." Feng Linlin, upset by Chu Ge's denial, glared at him.

Ye Feng's anger intensified as he stared at Feng Linlin. He pulled Zhang Jiajia aside, his fists clenched.

Chu Ge, oblivious to Ye Feng's emotions, added vegetables to Feng Linlin's plate. "Eat up, it's good for you."

Zhang Jiajia whispered to Ye Feng, who glared at the vegetables with pent-up frustration. Chu Ge's actions felt like a taunt.

"Are you hinting at him?" Feng Linlin asked, her voice low.

Chu Ge shrugged. "He looked at you with jealousy, so I gave him a taste of his own medicine." Feng Linlin's lips curved into a smile, her heart fluttering.
