Chu Ge enjoyed a delightful dinner with Feng Linlin, while Ye Feng's meal with his "girlfriend" was less than pleasant. The contrast between their experiences couldn't be more apparent. Chu Ge felt a sense of satisfaction, as if he had momentarily overcome the protagonist's halo in the urban novel he found himself in.
However, during the meal, Liu Yanru called Chu Ge several times, and he had to hang up in front of Feng Linlin. Despite his feelings for his boss, he knew her behavior was "simpish". He's a good man and shouldn't have any dirty thoughts about his boss, right?
After dinner, it was already 8 p.m. Fortunately, Liu Yanru messaged Chu Ge, asking him to return to the company. Chu Ge dreaded explaining his late arrival, feeling a headache coming on.
"Let's finish up and head home," Chu Ge said, signaling the waiter for the bill. He asked for a cup of hot herbal tea for Feng Linlin, who sipped it delicately, her eyes occasionally darting towards Chu Ge.
Ye Feng, unable to bear the sight any longer, slammed his fist on the table and stood up, his eyes fixed on Chu Ge. "Chu, you won't get away with this! You'll pay for what you've done!"
Ye Feng felt humiliated, believing Chu Ge was deliberately taunting him. He wanted to retaliate but knew he wasn't a match for Chu Ge's strength. His only solace was his proficiency with firearms.
Chu Ge approached Ye Feng, his voice cold. "This is just the beginning. You and I are destined to clash."
Chu Ge bumped Ye Feng's shoulder, a provocative gesture. "You'll regret this. I'll make you pay."
Chu Ge and Feng Linlin left the restaurant, leaving Ye Feng seething with anger. Feng Linlin, no longer interested in Ye Feng, felt a sense of finality in their relationship.
Chu Ge noticed Feng Linlin's empty wrist, where her headband had been. "Hey, where's your headband?"
"I threw it away; it got oily," Feng Linlin replied with a hint of regret. "I'll have to buy a new one next time."
Chu Ge nodded, making a mental note to get her one. He instructed the driver of a nearby car to take Feng Linlin home, ensuring her safety.
"Here's my number. Call me if you need anything," Chu Ge said, leaving his contact details before the car drove away.
On his way to pick up Liu Yanru, Chu Ge received a call from Luo Xiu (NPC subordinate). "Boss, we found an assassination order for Ye Feng on the dark web. The reward is $100 million."
Chu Ge wasn't surprised, knowing Ye Feng had made enemies. "Tempting, but we won't act without your order."
"Someone has already accepted the mission," Luo Xiu added. "Ye Feng is in danger."
Chu Ge laughed. "Ye Feng won't be easy to kill. Keep an eye on it."
After the call, Chu Ge picked up Liu Yanru, who immediately noticed the scent of perfume in the car. "You picked up a female friend?"
Chu Ge hummed nonchalantly, his eyes on the road. Liu Yanru held a pink hair rope, a gift from Chu Ge. "I bought this for you, but it seems I dropped it."
Chu Ge's heart sank as he realized it was Feng Linlin's hair rope. He quickly covered up, "Oh, I'll look for it later."
Liu Yanru's eyes narrowed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Here's your girlfriend's bracelet."
Chu Ge, feeling exposed, stammered, "I'll find it later. We can get a new one together."
Feng Linlin, unaware of Liu Yanru's jealousy, hung up after a brief conversation. Chu Ge shook his head, smiling apologetically. "Boss, she's just a friend. I'll drive you home now."
Liu Yanru, unconvinced, snorted and threw the hair rope at Chu Ge. He sighed, knowing he had some explaining to do.
On the other side, Feng Linlin couldn't help but smile triumphantly, thinking of Liu Yanru's reaction.
